Our Fabrics

Most golf brands start with polyester and call it performance. We start with cotton and engineer it to outperform. Every fabric in the Three Putt range has been chosen for weight, durability, and comfort, on the course and off it. Here's exactly what goes into each piece and why.

Why Heavyweight?

Walk into any pro shop, and you'll find rails of thin, plasticky polyester. It pills after a few washes, clings when you sweat, and looks tired by mid-season. We went the other way — heavyweight cotton and cotton-rich blends that feel substantial from day one and only get better with wear.

Heavier fabrics hold their shape longer, resist pilling, and drape properly instead of clinging. They cut the wind on an exposed links course in February, then layer up easily when the weather turns. And because our GSM weights start at 240gsm and go up to 400gsm, you're getting genuine substance — not the 160–180gsm tees the big brands charge a premium for.

The T-Shirt — 240gsm Cotton–Sorona Blend

Spec Detail
Composition 73.31% Cotton / 26.69% Sorona Fibre
Weight 240gsm (7.1oz)
Fit Relaxed, drop-shoulder
Price £31.99

What Is Sorona Fibre?

Sorona is a plant-based performance fibre developed by DuPont. It's naturally soft, quick-drying, breathable, and cooling — without the clammy feel of standard polyester. Every Three Putt tee ships with an official Sorona hang tag so you know it's genuine, not a marketing claim.

Why This Blend?

Cotton gives you the weight and comfort. Sorona gives you quick-dry cooling that actually works — it dries faster than anything the big brands put in their polos at twice the price. At 240gsm, this is a midweight performance tee that holds its structure without feeling heavy in summer. The drop-shoulder seam means it sits naturally and doesn't restrict your swing.

The Hoodie — 380gsm Heavyweight Cotton Blend

Spec Detail
Composition 85% Cotton / 15% Polyester
Weight 380gsm (11.2oz)
Interior Fleece-lined
Fit Oversized, drop-shoulder
Price £59.99

Why 85/15?

At 380gsm, this is noticeably thicker than most high-street hoodies. The 85% cotton gives you the weight and comfort. The 15% polyester keeps its shape wash after wash — no pilling after 20 rounds, no shrinking after the first tumble dry. The fleece-lined interior adds warmth without bulk, and the ribbed hem and cuffs lock everything in place on a windy course.

Built for British Golf

This fabric is thick enough to cut the wind walking between holes on an exposed February medal. The drop-shoulder construction means you can layer a waterproof over it without restricting your swing. It handles a full round in the cold and still looks right three pints into the post-round debrief.

The Sweatshirt — 400gsm Pure Cotton

Spec Detail
Composition 100% Cotton
Weight 400gsm (11.8oz)
Fit Regular, round neckline
Price £58.00

Why 100% Cotton?

This is the heaviest fabric in our range — 400gsm of dense, premium cotton with no polyester blends and no synthetic shortcuts. It feels substantial the moment you pick it up. It breathes when you need it to and insulates when the temperature drops, without that clammy polyester feel you get from performance sweatshirts.

Why It Lasts

Pure cotton at this weight is built to last seasons, not weeks. The ribbed hem and cuffs hold their shape over time, and the dense weave resists pilling naturally. Whether you're warming up at the range, playing a casual nine, or wearing it off the course, this sweatshirt only improves with wear.

Care Instructions

All Three Putt garments follow the same care routine — simple and low-maintenance:

  • Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle
  • Tumble dry on low
  • Iron on low heat (avoid ironing directly on print areas)
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not dry clean

Washing at 30°C preserves the fabric's weight and colour. These are heavyweight garments; they don't need high heat to come out clean.
