Castore Golf vs Three Putt: Two UK Brands, Two Different Jobs
Updated on: October 2, 2026 • ~10 min read

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Manchester against Leeds, on the course and off it. Castore makes athletic men's golf kit to play in; Three Putt makes heavyweight golf streetwear for everything around the round.
How We Review Golf Clothing Brands
Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.
Verdict and Quick Pick
Castore is a Manchester sportswear brand selling men's on-course golf kit: £48 Essential polos, £65 trousers and LVS layers, with free 28-day returns (October 2026 prices). Three Putt is a Leeds golf streetwear brand selling long-sleeves and heavyweight cotton tees, sweatshirts and hoodies from £24.99, with free UK delivery. Choose Castore to play in, Three Putt for off the course.
Best for golf style off the course on a budget: Three Putt. Heavyweight cotton tees and hoodies with golf graphics, free UK delivery and nothing above £54.99. It is casual wear, not performance kit.
Best for playing in, dress codes and low-risk sizing: Castore. Moisture-wicking polos, stretch trousers in Regular and Long legs and vented quarter-zips, with free returns within 28 days. An Essential polo and Golf Trousers cost £113 together at full price.

Brand Overview
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt is a UK golf streetwear brand based in Leeds. The range is deliberately narrow: tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies.
Each comes in six graphic designs: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green. The idea is golf culture you can wear anywhere, not a full on-course wardrobe.
That brings honest limits. The range has no polos, trousers, shorts, outerwear, waterproofs or caps, and no women's-specific line. If your club has a collared-shirt dress code, you will need a polo from elsewhere.
Castore
Castore is the Manchester-based premium sportswear brand started by brothers Tom and Phil Beahon. Its first golf collection went on sale in April 2019, with polos from £70 and trousers at £150. The golf range costs far less today.
The kit is built around named fabric tech: AerTek for wicking, ProTek for water repellency and LVS (Layered Ventilation System) for venting. Castore dresses LIV Golf's Majesticks Golf Club, whose 2026 team is Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Sam Horsfield and Laurie Canter.
Matt Fitzpatrick won the 2022 US Open in Castore, but he was wearing Greyson by early 2023. In October 2026 the golf line was men's only. castore.com listed no women's golf clothing, just a unisex Castore x Paul Smith cap and socks.
Clubhouse Golf and GolfOnline stock current pieces such as the Essential polo, and Specialist Sports has handled UK golf distribution since the spring/summer 2026 collection.

Key Features and Fabrics
Three Putt Golf
- Tees: 100% cotton, 305gsm, relaxed fit, S–2XL, five colourways per design.
- Long-sleeve tees: 305gsm, 100% cotton, oversized drop-shoulder fit, S–XL.
- Sweatshirts: 400gsm cotton crewneck, regular fit, S–2XL.
- Hoodies: 430gsm, 56% cotton / 44% polyester, oversized drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL, four colourways per design.
These are heavyweight casual garments, not technical performance wear. Do not expect moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or weather protection.
Castore
- Polos: the Golf Essential polo uses AerTek moisture-wicking fabric, 93% polyester and 7% elastane, with side slits for movement. Some colourways add OTek odour protection.
- Trousers and shorts: the £65 Golf Trousers are 92% polyester and 8% elastane with a ProTek water-repellent finish. They have a gripper-print waistband, a scorecard pocket and a media pocket. The slim £78 pairs add UPF sun protection.
- Quarter-zips: the £78 LVS quarter-zip mixes a woven front panel for wind resistance with laser-cut vents and engineered-knit sides. The £95 Knitted quarter-zip is a seamless knit.
- Hoodies: the £70 Flex Long Sleeve Hoodie is 92% polyester and 8% elastane with ProTek, so it is a technical layer rather than a cotton hoodie.
- Jackets: the £140 LVS Jacket is a stretch soft shell with a mesh chest insert. Castore says ProTek helps "protect against light drizzle during golf".
There is no seam-sealed waterproof golf jacket or over-trouser in the range, so a proper rain suit has to come from elsewhere. Our waterproof golf clothing guide covers the options. Product pages list compositions but don't state a country of manufacture.

| Delivery to a UK address | Free | £3.95, free over £60; next day £5.50, free over £150 |
Castore shows UK visitors prices in pounds. An Essential polo and a pair of £65 Golf Trousers come to £113, and adding the LVS quarter-zip takes one outfit to £191. A Three Putt tee and hoodie together cost £70.98–£85.98.
Small Castore orders carry a delivery charge. A single £48 polo costs £51.95 delivered, while a two-piece order clears the £60 threshold. In October 2026, 13 core golf pieces also carried a "Buy 2 Save 30%" offer, and the outlet held older golf lines.
Price Verdict
Three Putt wins on price. Its dearest piece, a £54.99 hoodie, costs about £18 less than Castore's £70 Flex hoodie, and delivery is free. Castore's prices are fair for named performance fabrics, and its offers bring them down further.
Fit and Sizing
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt runs S–2XL across the range, except the oversized long-sleeves, which run S–XL. Tees have a relaxed fit, long-sleeves a loose drop shoulder and sweatshirts a regular fit. Hoodies are oversized with a drop shoulder, so size down if you want a closer look.
Castore
Castore labels most golf pieces regular fit. The £65 Golf Trousers are regular, the £78 pairs slim and tapered, and the brown LVS jacket is cut athletic. The Elevated Lifestyle quarter-zips and trousers are cut slim.
Golf tops run XS–2XL. On Castore's size chart, XS fits a 36–38in chest and 2XL a 46–48in chest. Trousers come in 28–38 waists with Regular and Long legs, and shorts in 28–38.
Golf Monthly found the cut of Castore's Golf Club Classic quarter-zip tailored enough to suggest sizing up if you like room. Every product page carries a size chart.
Fit Verdict
Castore wins for a tailored on-course fit, with waist sizes and two leg lengths. Three Putt is roomier and cut for streetwear shapes, though both brands stop at 2XL.
Style and Versatility
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt is golf streetwear: golf-themed graphics on heavyweight cotton, cut in relaxed and oversized shapes. A Three Putt hoodie works for a casual range session, the pub after a round or a weekend layer. It is not the right shirt for a members' competition at a traditional club.
Castore
Castore's look is clean, athletic and quiet. Expect a chest logo, a wordmark on the upper back and a palette of navy, cream and brown. Golf Monthly's one complaint about an earlier Castore layer was that back branding.
The polos meet a typical collared-shirt rule, and the trousers look smart enough for most clubhouses. The Elevated Lifestyle pieces lean further towards smart-casual, and the Castore x Paul Smith capsule adds some colour. Check your club's golf dress code if you are unsure.
Style Verdict
Castore looks like sportswear wherever you wear it: sharp on the first tee and at the gym. Three Putt looks like golf culture: relaxed, graphic and made for the pub. Choose Castore for a clean athletic look and Three Putt for graphics with a sense of humour.

Quality, Durability and Sustainability
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt's quality story is weight. Tees are 305gsm cotton, sweatshirts are 400gsm and hoodies are 430gsm. On sustainability, Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims. Its tees are 100% cotton.
Castore
Castore's quality case is consistent, named fabric tech that suits UK golf, from wicking polos to vented layers. Golf Monthly's 2024 review called the Golf Club Classic quarter-zip "a simple, sleek and versatile piece".
In October 2026, Castore scored 4.5 on Trustpilot from more than 10,600 reviews, covering the whole business rather than golf alone. Its golf product pages make no recycled-content or sustainability claims, and they don't say where garments are made. Castore does publish a Modern Slavery Statement.
Quality Verdict
Castore wins on technical construction, with stretch, wicking and venting built into the range. Three Putt wins on heavyweight cotton at a low price. Neither makes strong sustainability claims.
Customer Support and Returns
Three Putt Golf
Delivery is free across the UK. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Email support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk first, and note that you pay the return postage. Support is by email.
Castore
Both brands sell in pounds, but Castore spells out its whole delivery setup. UK orders ship from its UK warehouse by Evri, so there are no duties or customs forms. Its delivery page sets out the options.
- Standard: 2–4 working days for £3.95, free on orders over £60.
- Next day: £5.50, free over £150, if you order by 8pm, Monday to Friday.
- Pick-up points: parcel shops and lockers on the mainland, at the same prices.
- Northern Ireland: standard delivery only.
Returns are where Castore pulls clearly ahead. Its returns policy covers every order at no cost, for 28 days from the day your parcel arrives. You book a label through an online portal and drop the parcel off.
Items must be unused, with all tags attached and in the original Castore packaging. The original delivery charge isn't refunded. Castore also doesn't offer exchanges, so a wrong size means a refund and a new order.
Support runs through a help centre and an online contact form, with no published phone number. Castore has around 25 shops across the UK, Ireland and Rotterdam, but its site doesn't say which carry golf.
Support Verdict
On returns, Castore wins: double the window, no postage to pay and a simple portal. On delivery, Three Putt is cheaper for small orders, because Castore charges £3.95 below £60. Both handle support in writing, Castore by web form and Three Putt by email.
Our Pick
Buy Castore if you want clean, athletic kit to play in from a British company. The £48 Essential polo meets a collared-shirt dress code, the Golf Trousers come in Regular and Long legs, and the LVS layers handle cold, breezy rounds. Free 28-day returns make trying two sizes low-risk. Add a proper waterproof from another brand. Our full Castore golf clothing review covers the range in more depth.
Buy Three Putt if you want golf style for everywhere else, delivered free in the UK. Heavyweight tees from £24.99, sweatshirts and hoodies under £55 cover the walk to the first tee and the drink afterwards. You will still need a collared polo from elsewhere if your club requires one.
Plenty of golfers will happily own both: a Castore polo and trousers for the Saturday medal, and a Three Putt hoodie for the drive home. For more home-grown labels, see our guide to UK golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Three Putt vs Castore
Is Three Putt a good alternative to Castore?
For off-course style, yes. Three Putt sells long-sleeves and heavyweight tees, sweatshirts and hoodies from £24.99, with free UK delivery. It is not an alternative for on-course kit. The range has no polos, trousers, shorts or jackets, and no wicking or stretch fabrics, which covers most of what Castore's golf line sells.
Which is better on the course?
Castore, clearly. Its Essential polo wicks moisture, the Golf Trousers stretch and shrug off light rain, and the LVS layers vent heat on cold, breezy rounds. It isn't a rain specialist, though: the jackets are water-resistant, not waterproof. Three Putt's cotton tees and hoodies suit a relaxed round at an easy-going club, but offer no performance fabric.
Is Three Putt good quality?
Three Putt's quality case rests on fabric weight. Tees are 305gsm 100% cotton, sweatshirts are 400gsm cotton and hoodies are 430gsm cotton/polyester. That is substantial casual wear at £24.99–£54.99. Castore offers more technical construction, but its £70 Flex hoodie is a polyester and elastane layer, not a heavyweight cotton hoodie.
How do the fits differ?
Castore cuts mostly regular-fit golf pieces, with slim trousers and an athletic-fit LVS jacket. Tops run XS–2XL, and trousers come in 28–38 waists with Regular and Long legs. Three Putt cuts are roomier: relaxed tees, oversized long-sleeves, regular-fit sweatshirts and oversized hoodies. Three Putt runs S–2XL, except the oversized long-sleeves (S–XL).
Which is better off the course?
Castore's quarter-zips and Elevated Lifestyle pieces pass as smart-casual sportswear, with quiet branding and a clean, athletic cut. Three Putt works as everyday streetwear, with heavyweight cotton and golf graphics. For pubs, cold weekends and gifts under £52, Three Putt is the easier and cheaper pick.
Are Castore and Three Putt sustainable?
Neither brand makes strong claims. Castore's golf product pages make no recycled-content or sustainability claims and don't say where garments are made, though the company publishes a Modern Slavery Statement. Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims; its tees are 100% cotton.
Which is better value?
For a UK buyer on a budget, Three Putt. Its whole range sits between £24.99 and £54.99, with free UK delivery. In October 2026, Castore's Essential polo was £48 and its Golf Trousers £65 at full price, with £3.95 delivery under £60. For golf kit you will wear every week, Castore's prices are fair.
Which is easier to buy and return in the UK?
Castore is easier to send back. It ships from a UK warehouse with no duties, charges £3.95 for standard delivery under £60, and takes returns free within 28 days, though it doesn't do exchanges. Three Putt delivers free across the UK. It accepts returns within 14 days of delivery, at your cost, after you email support first.
