We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Sweden's rain-suit specialist since 1986, now under new owners and still built for the days everyone else stays in.
How We Review Golf Clothing Brands
Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.
Verdict: 7.3/10
Cross Sportswear is a Swedish golf brand founded in Gothenburg in 1986 by two golfers who wanted rainwear they could actually swing in. We liked the stretch rain suits (20,000mm on the Pro jacket), the 3-year waterproof warranty on direct orders, polos from about £43 and a genuine women's range.
It's also a brand in transition. The trademark was sold on 17 October 2025 to a subsidiary of the family-owned Seagull-Eye Group, weeks before the old operating company went bankrupt. The brand now trades as CRSW Atelier AB.
Where it falls short for UK golfers: the webshop doesn't deliver to the UK, and around 147 of its 158 listings were sold out at the start of October 2026. The big UK golf chains don't stock it either, though golf retailer Dormy sells its men's rain gear in pounds.
This brand is best for golfers who play through proper weather, can find their size at a UK stockist, and want a stretch rain suit rather than a statement outfit.

Key Features
- Signature tech/fabric: The FTX membrane system; the Pro jacket is a 2-layer, 4-way stretch shell rated 20,000mm, and the new X-Pro uses Japanese stretch fabric
- Design language: Understated Scandinavian: clean, solid colourways in navy, black, greys and dark pine
- Fit profile: A mix of regular and narrow cuts; narrow pieces come up about half a size small
- Range depth: Men's and women's rain gear, windbreakers, vests, polos, half-zips, chinos, shorts, a skort and a golf dress; accessories are down to one hat and a belt
Pros
- Stretch waterproofs with published specs: 15,000–20,000mm ratings and 4-way stretch on the Pro and Hurricane jackets
- A 3-year waterproof and windproof warranty on all rain gear bought direct
- Waterproof trousers in short, regular and long legs; chinos in 29–40 waists with two leg lengths
- A real women's range: 63 of the 158 webshop listings
Cons
- No direct UK delivery: the webshop ships to EU countries and a few others, not the UK
- Most of the webshop is sold out, and the store locator lists no stockists
- Thin UK retail: Dormy for men's rain gear, one women's specialist and a single trouser at GolfOnline
- Owners report the rain suits run warm in summer
Cross Sportswear Pricing
Cross prices like a mid-market technical brand: polos are cheap for a European golf label, and the money goes into the membranes. A UK visitor sees Swedish kronor, and the euro prices are the same figures divided by ten (2,799 kr or €280 for the Pro jacket). As the webshop won't deliver here, treat these as reference prices.
| Category | Entry | Typical | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polos/Tees | £43 | £60 | £68 |
| Midlayers | £68 | £103–£111 | £154 |
| Trousers/Shorts | £51 | £85 | £214 |
| Outerwear | £85 | £128–£145 | £239 |
| Caps | £43 | £43 | £43 |
Approximate GBP equivalents of the euro prices at about €1.17 to the pound: polos €50–€80, Athletic Light half-zip €80, wind vests €120–€130, Hybrid down vest €170, Justin half-zip €180, Armour trousers €60, Byron Lux shorts €80, Byron Lux chinos €100, Cloud waterproof trousers €110, Hurricane trousers €160, Pro trousers €230, Cabot FTX trousers €250, windbreakers €100–€140, Cloud and Bandon jackets €150, Cloud 2.0 jacket €170, Hurricane jacket €220, X-Pro jacket €269, Pro jacket €280, Cabot hat €50 (there are no caps).
Comparison:
- Cross Sportswear vs Three Putt: Opposite briefs. Cross builds stretch rain suits for the days most golfers stay in. Three Putt is a UK brand with tees from £24.99, heavyweight hoodies at £45.99–£54.99 and free UK delivery. One keeps you dry; the other says who you are.
- Cross Sportswear vs Galvin Green: Sweden's two golf weather specialists. Galvin Green builds on GORE-TEX and is easy to find at UK golf retailers. Cross uses its own FTX system and is far harder to buy here.
- Cross Sportswear vs KJUS: They've traded MyGolfSpy's rain gear crown. Cross topped its test from 2017 to 2019; KJUS won in 2020, 2021 and 2024, and shared it in 2022 and 2025. KJUS is the premium pick; Cross was the value one.
- Cross Sportswear vs Oscar Jacobson: Two sides of Swedish golfwear. Oscar Jacobson leads with tailoring and clubhouse polish; Cross leads with membranes and seam tape.
Promos/Outlet Notes: Newsletter sign-up gives 10% off a first order, and EU delivery is free over €100. In the UK, Ladies Online Golf has its whole Cross range on sale: the women's Pro jacket is £169.95 (RRP £199.95) and the Edge jacket £199 (RRP £289). GolfOnline has one men's Windproof Winter Trouser on sale at £49.95, down from £79.95, in two waist sizes.
Verdict: 6.8/10
Polos from about £43 are fair, and £188–£239 for a serious stretch rain jacket matches the specs. The score drops because UK golfers can't buy at those prices; the real price is whatever a UK stockist such as Dormy charges.
Cross Sportswear Fit & Sizing (Usability)
Cross mixes two cuts: regular for classics like the Pro jacket, and narrow for pieces like the Hurricane jacket and Hybrid vest. Its size guide says narrow-fit items come up about half a size smaller. The per-product charts are garment measurements, not body measurements.
Notes:
- Polos/Tees: Men's polos run S–3XL and women's XS–3XL, each with its own chart. Check the fit line on each page.
- Midlayers: The down Hybrid vest is a narrow fit, cut to sit under a jacket; wind vests and half-zips run S–3XL.
- Trousers/Shorts: Byron Lux chinos come in 29–40 waists with 32 or 34 legs; women's Lux chinos run W25–W34 in two leg lengths. Most waterproof trousers come in short, regular and long.
- Outerwear: The Pro and X-Pro jackets are regular fits; the Hurricane is narrow. MyGolfSpy rated the Hurricane best for golfers who like a tailored fit.
- Heat/Humidity: One GolfWRX owner says their suit runs hot: "good for the winter months but not during summer". Cross says the bamboo charcoal in its polos helps regulate temperature.
- Size Charts: A chart in cm and inches sits above the size selector on almost every product page.
Accessibility/Range:
- Men's tops S–3XL and women's XS–3XL, though women's Pro and Hurricane rain gear stops at XXL.
- Leg lengths are the standout: three on most waterproof trousers, two on chinos.
- Nothing beyond 3XL, and no junior clothing in the webshop.
Verdict: 7.7/10
Leg-length options and garment-measurement charts make Cross easier to fit than most. Check whether a piece is narrow before ordering, because there are no exchanges: you return it and order again.
Cross Sportswear Core Product Categories
Rain Gear
The reason the brand exists. The Pro jacket (€280, about £239) is a soft, quiet two-layer shell with 4-way stretch, taped seams and a 20,000mm rating; Pro trousers (€230) come in three leg lengths. The updated X-Pro (€269) adds Japanese stretch fabric and a hidden scorecard pocket, and the Hurricane (€220, 15,000mm) is the lighter option. MyGolfSpy in 2019: "For the third year in a row, Cross finishes in the top spot (tie)." In early October, only the X-Pro was in stock online, the men's version in small only.
Verdict: 8.5/10
Jackets & Windwear
Beyond the rain suits sits a proper layering system. Windbreakers run from the Pine (€100, in FTX 2-way fabric) to the Essex (€120) and Kiawah (€140). Above them sit the Cloud jacket and Bandon hybrid (€150), the Cloud 2.0 (€170) and the Hybrid jacket (€200). Merion and Creek wind vests (€120–€130) and a 90/10 down Hybrid vest (€170) fill the gaps. It's sensible kit for UK springs and autumns, if you can find it in stock.
Verdict: 7.8/10

Trousers/Shorts
Byron Lux chinos (€100, about £85) and shorts (€80) come in a run of neutral colours, alongside the Byron Tech chino (€110) and Armour trousers (€60). Waterproof trousers are the real strength: Cloud (€110), Hurricane (€160), Cloud 2.0 (€170), X-Pro (€210), Pro (€230) and the new 3-layer Cabot FTX trousers (€250). Every men's trouser and short was sold out online in early October.
Verdict: 7.6/10

Polos & Second Layers
Polos are the bargain: Brian and Collin at €50 (about £43), Troy and Vince at €70, and Robert at €80. Cross says it uses bamboo charcoal mainly in its polos, for odour control and temperature regulation. The Athletic Light half-zip (€80) and Justin half-zip (€180) are the layers. Every polo was sold out online.
Verdict: 7.1/10

Women's & Accessories
Women's isn't an afterthought. It covers Pro, Hurricane, X-Pro and Cloud rain gear, Oban X-Light jackets and trousers, three polo styles, Lux chinos, a Solid Pleat skort in 92% recycled polyester and the Mary golf dress. It's also the best-stocked UK route: Ladies Online Golf lists 29 Cross pieces. Accessories have shrunk to a Cabot hat (€50) and a stretch belt (€30).
Verdict: 7.3/10
Cross Sportswear Materials & Tech (Construction, Sustainability)
Cross's story starts with FTX: a lightweight membrane paired with different outer fabrics to keep wind and rain out while letting moisture escape. The specs are published and credible; the sustainability story is modest but honest.
Backend (manufacturing & standards):
- Founded in 1986 in Gothenburg; now run by CRSW Atelier AB from Fjärås in western Sweden.
- No factories of its own: production is by selected manufacturers in China.
- Mostly recycled and recyclable polyester, but the best rain gear uses virgin polyester for durability, by the brand's own account.
- No third-party certifications, such as bluesign or OEKO-TEX, are cited.
Application (on-garment features):
- Pro jacket: 2-layer, 4-way stretch, 20,000mm waterproof, 20,000g/m²/24h breathability, taped seams and fleece-lined pockets.
- X-Pro jacket: Japanese 4-way stretch fabric, a dot-laminated PU membrane, a DWR finish and a "Diamond shoulder" for movement.
- Hurricane: 2.5-layer, 15,000mm, pre-shaped sleeves and a minimum of seams.
- Cabot trousers: 3-layer FTX with a recycled shell and membrane, fully seam-sealed, rated 15,000mm.
- Polos and skorts: bamboo charcoal in the polos; the Solid Pleat skort is 92% recycled polyester.
Verdict: 7.8/10
Real waterproofing numbers and a 3-year rain gear warranty beat most golf brands' marketing. Production in China with no certifications keeps it short of the top tier.
Cross Sportswear Customer Support
Cross runs a tidy EU webshop and not much else. For UK golfers, the policies matter less than the fact that the shop won't deliver here.
Channels & Hours
- Email sales@crsw.se, with replies promised within 48 hours, Monday to Friday.
- Phone hours are listed as 09:00–14:00 CET on weekdays, but the contact page doesn't display a number.
- No live chat, and the personal-shopping page linked from the menu returns an error.
- A UK and Ireland agent, Trendy Sports Agency, is listed among its distributors.
Policies
- Delivers to EU countries plus a few others such as Iceland and Monaco, but not the UK. Prices include VAT and orders ship duty paid.
- Free delivery over €100; otherwise €10–€24 by DPD, taking 2–6 working days from the Dutch warehouse.
- 30-day returns with a €5 fee deducted, no exchanges, and sale items returnable.
- The 3-year rain gear warranty covers direct purchases only; anything bought elsewhere goes back to that retailer.
Self-Serve
- An online returns portal issues DPD labels; returns can take up to 14 business days to process once they arrive.
- Size charts on product pages, plus FAQ and product-care guides.
- The store locator currently shows no stores, and the blog hasn't been updated since May 2025.
Verdict: 5.8/10
The warranty and clear return rules are genuine positives for EU buyers. UK golfers get no direct route, no visible phone number and no store finder, so Dormy and Ladies Online Golf are the practical options.
What Are Cross Sportswear's Review Ratings from Review Sites?
(As of October 2026)
- Trustpilot: Effectively unrated: 3.2 from a single review, with none in the last 12 months.
- On-site (verified buyers): No customer reviews are displayed on the webshop's product pages.
- MyGolfSpy: The strongest evidence. The Edge suit topped its rain gear test three years running to 2019 (tied in 2019). The Hurricane was Best Value in 2019 and best under $500 in 2021.
- GolfWRX forum: A 2022 owner calls their jacket and trousers "very stretchy, fully waterproof", with heat the only complaint. Another remembers a Swedish brand "once popular here in the UK".
- Social: About 7,600 Instagram followers on @crosssportswear.
Synthesis:
Everyone who has tested the rain gear agrees: it keeps the rain out and moves with your swing, with warmth the only recurring catch. The problem is that the best evidence is several years old, and the brand's own review footprint is close to zero.
Is Cross Sportswear a Good Golf Brand?
Yes, for rain gear, with an asterisk on availability. Cross makes genuinely good stretch waterproofs with published specs, a 3-year warranty and leg lengths most brands don't bother with. But the old company went bankrupt in 2025, the new webshop doesn't deliver to the UK, and UK stockists are scarce. If you find your size here, it's a smart buy. If you want golf clothing with personality from a UK brand with free UK delivery, Three Putt's golf tees and heavyweight hoodies cover the dry days. Frequently Asked Questions About Cross Sportswear
Who owns Cross Sportswear?
Since 17 October 2025 the Cross Sportswear trademark has belonged to CRSW Atelier AB, a subsidiary of Seagull-Eye Group. Seagull-Eye is a family-owned Swedish sports business that also owns Five Seasons, Snoot and Norrsken. The brand is now run from Fjärås in western Sweden.
Did Cross Sportswear go bankrupt?
The old operating company, Cross Sportswear International AB, was reported bankrupt in November 2025 after two years of falling sales. The trademark had been sold to the new owners weeks earlier, so the brand carried on. A webshop stocked with 2026 products is live, but most of it was sold out in early October 2026.
Where is Cross Sportswear made?
Cross designs in Sweden but has no factories of its own. The brand says production is handled by selected manufacturers in China, chosen on quality, delivery and ethical and environmental grounds. Webshop orders are dispatched from a distribution centre in the Netherlands.
Does Cross Sportswear ship to the UK?
No. The webshop delivers to EU countries plus a few others such as Iceland and Monaco, and the UK isn't on its list. A UK visitor sees prices in Swedish kronor. EU orders ship duty paid with free delivery over €100, but UK golfers need to buy from a UK retailer.
Where can I buy Cross Sportswear in the UK?
Options are thin. Dormy's UK web store sells Cross men's rain jackets in pounds, with VAT and customs included. Ladies Online Golf stocks 29 women's Cross pieces, mostly rain jackets and trousers. GolfOnline has one men's winter trouser in two waist sizes. We couldn't find Cross at American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18 or Clubhouse Golf, though Cross does list a UK and Ireland agent.
How does Cross Sportswear sizing run?
Broadly true to size on European sizing, with two cuts to watch. Regular-fit pieces like the Pro jacket fit normally, while narrow-fit pieces like the Hurricane come up about half a size smaller, according to Cross's size guide. Men's tops run S–3XL, women's XS–3XL, and most waterproof trousers come in three leg lengths.
Is Cross Sportswear rain gear any good?
Yes. MyGolfSpy ranked the Edge suit top of its rain gear test three years running to 2019, and the Hurricane won value awards in 2019 and 2021. The current Pro jacket is rated 20,000mm with 4-way stretch, and rain gear bought direct carries a 3-year waterproof warranty. Owners say it runs warm in summer.
What is Cross Sportswear's return policy?
Webshop orders can be returned within 30 days of delivery, including sale items. A €5 fee comes off the refund (49 kr in Sweden), and returns can take up to 14 business days to process. There are no exchanges, so you return the item and order again. UK purchases follow the retailer's own policy.
