We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Swedish stretch rain suits against Leeds golf streetwear: two brands built for opposite ends of a wet round.
How We Review Golf Clothing Brands
Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.
Verdict and Quick Pick
Cross Sportswear is a Swedish golf brand, founded in 1986 and best known for stretch rain jackets rated up to 20,000mm. Three Putt is a Leeds golf streetwear brand selling heavyweight tees and hoodies from £23.99, with no rainwear. Choose Cross to stay dry on the course, and Three Putt for what you wear around it.
Best for off-course golf style under £52: Three Putt. Golf-graphic tees from £23.99 and 430gsm hoodies up to £54.99, sold direct with free UK delivery. It is casual cotton clothing, so it won't keep the rain off.
Best for playing through proper weather: Cross Sportswear. The X-Pro is a four-way stretch jacket rated 20,000mm, and Dormy's UK store sells it at £179 with VAT and customs included. Cross's own webshop doesn't deliver to the UK.

Brand Overview
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt is a UK golf streetwear brand based in Leeds. It sells four garments: tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies.
Each comes in six graphic designs: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green. The aim is golf culture you can wear anywhere, rather than a full on-course wardrobe.
That focus brings honest limits. The range has no polos, trousers, shorts, outerwear, waterproofs or caps, and no women's-specific line. If your club has a collared-shirt dress code, you will need a polo from elsewhere. Nothing in the range will keep you dry.
Cross Sportswear
Cross Sportswear was founded in Gothenburg in 1986 by two golfers who wanted rainwear they could actually swing in. The range is built around its own FTX membrane system, and the rain suits are still the reason to buy it. Windwear, polos and chinos sit around them, with a full women's range.
The business behind it changed in autumn 2025. On 17 October the trademark was sold to a subsidiary of Seagull-Eye Group, a family-owned Swedish sports business that also owns Five Seasons and Snoot. Weeks later, the old operating company, Cross Sportswear International AB, was reported bankrupt after two years of falling sales. The brand carried on and now trades as CRSW Atelier AB from Fjärås in western Sweden.
For UK golfers, the catch is access. The webshop delivers to EU countries and a few others, not the UK, and shows a UK visitor prices in Swedish kronor. Much of it was out of stock in early October 2026.
The practical routes are retailers. Dormy's UK web store sells Cross men's rain gear in pounds, with VAT and customs included. Ladies Online Golf carries women's rain jackets and trousers. American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18 and Clubhouse Golf didn't list the brand in October 2026.

Key Features and Fabrics
Three Putt Golf
- Tees: 100% cotton, 260gsm, relaxed fit, S–3XL, five colourways per design.
- Long-sleeve tees: 280gsm, 85% cotton / 15% polyester, loose drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL.
- Sweatshirts: 400gsm cotton crewneck, regular fit, S–2XL.
- Hoodies: 430gsm, 56% cotton / 44% polyester, oversized drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL, four colourways per design.
These are heavyweight casual garments, not technical performance wear. They make no claims to moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or weather protection.
Cross Sportswear
- Pro jacket: a two-layer, four-way stretch shell rated 20,000mm waterproof and 20,000g/m² breathable, with taped seams and a regular fit.
- X-Pro jacket: Japanese four-way stretch fabric, also rated 20,000mm, with a "Diamond shoulder" for movement and a hidden scorecard pocket, in a regular fit.
- Hurricane jacket: a lighter 2.5-layer shell with four-way stretch, rated 15,000mm, in a narrow fit.
- Waterproof trousers: the Pro, X-Pro, Hurricane and Cloud 2.0 trousers come in short, regular and long legs. The Cabot trousers are a three-layer FTX build rated 15,000mm.
- Polos: Cross uses bamboo charcoal mainly in its polos and says it helps with odour and temperature.
The ranges barely touch. Cross makes no hoodies or graphic tees, the heart of Three Putt's range.

Dormy prices are its full UK prices in October 2026, including VAT and customs. Euro prices come from Cross's EU webshop, converted at about €1.17 to the pound.
For the X-Pro, Dormy is cheaper as well as easier: £179, against €269 (about £230) on the brand's EU store. A Three Putt tee and hoodie together cost £69.98–£81.98, less than half the price of one X-Pro jacket.
Price Verdict
Three Putt is far cheaper for everyday clothes, but the two aren't substitutes. For a 20,000mm stretch jacket, £179 with duties included is fair money.
Fit and Sizing
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt tees run S–3XL, and the long-sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies run S–2XL. Tees have a relaxed fit, long-sleeves a loose drop shoulder and sweatshirts a regular fit. Hoodies are oversized with a drop shoulder, so size down if you want a closer look.
Cross Sportswear
Cross mixes two cuts: regular for pieces like the Pro and X-Pro jackets, and narrow for pieces like the Hurricane. Its size guide says narrow-fit items come up about half a size smaller. The charts on each product page are garment measurements, not body measurements.
Men's tops run S–3XL and women's XS–3XL, although women's Pro and Hurricane rain gear stops at XXL. Leg lengths are the standout. Most waterproof trousers come in short, regular and long, and Byron Lux chinos come in 29–40 waists with 32 or 34 legs.
Ladies Online Golf labels its women's Cross pieces in UK sizes, from 6 to 16. There is no junior clothing in Cross's webshop.
Fit Verdict
Cross offers more sizing choice, with 3XL across men's tops and three leg lengths on most rain trousers. Three Putt is simpler, with one cut per garment and a small in everything. Before ordering Cross, check whether the piece is narrow.
Style and Versatility
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt is golf streetwear: graphic designs on heavyweight cotton, in relaxed and oversized shapes. A tee or hoodie suits a casual range session or the pub after a round. It isn't the top for a members' competition, and it is no use in a downpour.
Cross Sportswear
Cross looks Scandinavian and understated: clean, solid colourways in navy, black, greys and dark pine, with small logos. A quiet navy rain suit fits in at any club.
That restraint helps around the course. Cross polos meet a collared-shirt rule where a graphic tee won't, so check your club's golf dress code. The catch is buying them: the polos sit mainly on the EU webshop, and Dormy's Cross range is mostly rain gear and windwear.
Style Verdict
Three Putt has far more personality for the clubhouse, the car park and the weekend. Cross is the more useful brand on a wet day, and its quiet look suits even a traditional club.

Quality, Durability and Sustainability
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt's quality story is weight: 260gsm cotton tees, 280gsm long-sleeves, 400gsm sweatshirts and 430gsm hoodies. On sustainability, Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims. Its tees are 100% cotton.
Cross Sportswear
Cross's quality case is published waterproofing numbers and a test record. Its Edge suit topped MyGolfSpy's rain gear test three years running to 2019, sharing the title in the last of them. The Hurricane was MyGolfSpy's Best Value pick in 2019 and its Best Under $500 pick in 2021.
Owners agree. One on the GolfWRX forum in 2022 called their jacket and trousers "very stretchy, fully waterproof". Heat was the only complaint: the suit is better in winter than in summer.
Rain gear bought from cross-sportswear.com carries a three-year waterproof and windproof warranty for the original purchaser. Anything bought from a retailer, including Dormy, goes back to that retailer under its own terms.
On sustainability, Cross has no factories of its own: production is by selected manufacturers in China. Most of the range uses recycled or recyclable polyester, but the best rain gear uses virgin polyester for durability, by the brand's own account. No third-party certifications are cited.
Quality Verdict
Cross wins on technical construction, with rain gear that independent testers have rated highly. Three Putt wins on heavyweight cotton at a low price. On sustainability, Cross says more, but neither names a certification.
Customer Support and Returns
Three Putt Golf
Delivery is free across the UK. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Email support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk first, and note that you pay the return postage. Support is by email.
Cross Sportswear
UK buyers deal with a retailer rather than Cross itself. Dormy's UK web store, run by Dormy Golf UK Ltd in Warwick, delivers free over £50 and charges £5 below that. Prices include VAT and customs, and you have 14 days from delivery to return an order. Dormy doesn't deliver to Northern Ireland.
Cross's own delivery and returns terms only help EU buyers: 30-day returns with a €5 fee deducted, and no exchanges.
Cross answers by email, with replies promised within 48 hours on weekdays. There is no live chat, and its contact page shows no phone number.
Support Verdict
UK buyers get 14 days to return either way: direct from Three Putt, or from Dormy for Cross. Three Putt delivers free with no minimum spend, and you deal with the brand itself. With Cross, the bigger loss is the warranty, which doesn't cover a UK retail purchase.
Our Pick
Buy Cross Sportswear if you play through proper weather and want a stretch rain suit with published numbers. The X-Pro jacket is £179 and the matching trousers £149 at Dormy's UK store, with VAT and customs included. Check whether each piece is narrow-fit, and accept that the three-year warranty only covers orders from Cross's own EU webshop.
Buy Three Putt if you want golf style for everything else. Heavyweight tees from £23.99, sweatshirts and hoodies under £52 cover a dry round at a relaxed club and the drink afterwards, with free UK delivery. There is no rainwear in the range, and you will still need a collared polo from elsewhere if your club requires one.
Plenty of golfers could own both: a Cross rain suit in the bag for the wet days, and a Three Putt hoodie for the drive home. For more ways to stay dry, see our guide to the best waterproof golf clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions About Three Putt vs Cross Sportswear
Is Three Putt a good alternative to Cross Sportswear?
Not for the job Cross does best. Cross is built around stretch rain suits rated up to 20,000mm, while Three Putt makes heavyweight cotton tees, long-sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies with no rainwear at all. It is an alternative only for what you wear off the course or on dry, casual rounds.
Which is better on the course?
Cross, clearly. The Pro and X-Pro jackets are four-way stretch shells rated 20,000mm, and most of its waterproof trousers come in three leg lengths. Cross also makes polos for clubs with a collared-shirt rule, though they are hard to buy in the UK. Three Putt's cotton tees and hoodies suit a dry, relaxed round at an easy-going club, and make no weather or performance claims.
Can you buy Cross Sportswear in the UK?
Not from the brand. Cross's webshop delivers to EU countries and a few others, but not the UK. Dormy's UK web store sells Cross men's rain gear in pounds, with VAT and customs included, and delivers free over £50. Ladies Online Golf carries women's Cross rain jackets and trousers. American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18 and Clubhouse Golf didn't list the brand in October 2026.
Is Cross Sportswear still trading?
Yes. The trademark was sold to a subsidiary of Seagull-Eye Group on 17 October 2025, weeks before the old operating company, Cross Sportswear International AB, was reported bankrupt. The brand carried on under its new owner and now trades as CRSW Atelier AB from Fjärås in Sweden. Its webshop is live.
Does the Cross warranty cover UK purchases?
Not for most UK buyers. Cross gives a three-year waterproof and windproof warranty on its rain gear, but only to the original purchaser and only for items bought from cross-sportswear.com, which doesn't deliver to the UK. Anything bought from a retailer, including Dormy or Ladies Online Golf, goes back to that retailer under its own terms.
How do the fits differ?
Cross mixes regular and narrow cuts, and its size guide says narrow pieces come up about half a size smaller. Men's tops run S–3XL and women's XS–3XL, with three leg lengths on most rain trousers. Three Putt has one cut per garment: relaxed tees in S–3XL and oversized drop-shoulder hoodies in S–2XL, so size down for a closer look.
Which is better value?
It depends on what you need. For staying dry, Cross is fair value through Dormy: the 20,000mm X-Pro jacket is £179 with duties included, less than the brand's own EU price. For everyday golf clothing, Three Putt is far cheaper, with tees from £23.99 and hoodies from £45.99. A tee and a hoodie together cost less than half an X-Pro jacket.
Are Cross Sportswear and Three Putt sustainable?
Neither gives you much to check. Cross says most of its range uses recycled or recyclable polyester, but its best rain gear uses virgin polyester, production is in China and it cites no certifications. Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims; its tees are 100% cotton.
