Honest ProQuip Golf Clothing Review 2026 | Three Putt Golf

Updated on: October 1, 2026 • ~11 min read

Author: Graeme

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Scotland's rain specialist has kept 20 Ryder Cup teams dry. Here's whether it earns a place in your bag.

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands

Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.

Verdict: 8.1/10

ProQuip is a golf weatherwear specialist, founded in North Berwick in 1981, that has supplied 20 Ryder Cup teams since 1983. We liked the three-year waterproof guarantee on every waterproof, lifetime cover on the £180 stormFORCE PX9, and Tempest rainwear currently half price at £45.

The independent verdicts agree: 4.5/5 on Trustpilot from 326 reviews, and 4.5/5 from Today's Golfer for the PX8 jacket. The 2026 range adds a new PX9, a hooded Paige jacket for women and a Vortex windproof line.

Where it falls short for UK golfers: it's a rain-first label, so the polos and golf trousers are basic and mostly on clearance. Returns are posted back at your own cost, exchanges mean buying again, and American Golf, Scottsdale Golf and Function18 don't list it.

This brand is best for golfers who play through British winters and want guaranteed rain gear without paying £300-plus for it.

ProQuip not the right brand for you? Check out our comprehensive list of the best ProQuip Golf alternatives.

Key Features

  • Signature tech/fabric: Hot-melt sealed seams and laminated waterproof fabrics, a ProQuip-exclusive four-way stretch fabric on the stormFORCE PX series, and "Swing Silent Tech" to cut rustle
  • Design language: Tour weatherwear: black, navy and grey with tonal panels, small logos and nothing loud
  • Fit profile: Cut to layer over golf clothes; men's S–3XL (some styles to 4XL), women's XS–XXL (UK 8–20), golf trousers in 30–44 inch waists
  • Range depth: 110 ProQuip products: rain jackets, half-sleeve rain tops and trousers in several tiers, windproofs, mid-layers, Pro-Tech polos and trousers, knitwear, women's and juniors' ranges, plus Ashworth as UK distributor

Pros

  • Weatherwear supplier to 20 Ryder Cup teams since 1983, which ProQuip says is more than any other clothing maker
  • A three-year waterproof guarantee on all waterproofs, and lifetime cover on stormFORCE PX jackets and trousers
  • Lifetime-guaranteed PX9 jacket at £180 full price, about half a Galvin Green Arlo
  • Strong independent scores: 4.5/5 on Trustpilot (326 reviews) and 4.5/5 from Today's Golfer
  • Proper women's and juniors' rainwear, not resized men's leftovers

Cons

  • Rain-first range: polos, golf trousers and knitwear are basic and mostly on clearance
  • Return postage is at your cost, and there's no direct exchange: you buy again and return the original
  • 64 of 110 ProQuip products are on sale, which blurs what full price really means
  • Thin high-street presence: American Golf, Scottsdale Golf and Function18 don't list it

ProQuip Golf Pricing

ProQuip prices its rainwear in clear tiers: Tempest for value, Aqualite and ProFlex for stretch comfort, ProPac-Lite and Ultimate HTX for specialist jobs, and stormFORCE PX for the lifetime-guaranteed flagship. The webshop charges in pounds, with UK delivery at £5 on orders up to £50 and free above that.

Category Entry Typical Premium
Rain Jackets & Tops £90 £100–£130 £180
Rain Trousers £60 £80–£100 £150
Windproofs & Mid-layers £50 £59–£100 £110
Polos & Golf Trousers £30 £39–£55 £60
Accessories £15 £25 £35

Full prices on proquipgolf.net, October 2026: Tempest jacket and half-sleeve top £90, Tempest trousers £70, Aqualite jacket £100, Aqualite Pro and ProFlex jackets £120, ProPac-Lite £120 (hooded £130), Ultimate HTX jacket £140 and trousers £100, PX8 and PX9 jackets £180, stormFORCE PX trousers £150, women's Paige £120–£130, Vortex windproofs £90–£110, Pro-Tech polos £30–£39, Eagle trousers £55, bucket hat £35. On sale examples: Tempest jacket £45, ProFlex jacket £35, PX5 trousers £50, Tempest rain suit bundle £100 (from £195).

Comparison:

  • ProQuip vs Three Putt: Different jobs, same bad weather. ProQuip keeps the rain out from £90 a jacket. Three Putt is a UK brand selling the layer underneath: tees from £24.99, heavyweight hoodies £45.99–£54.99 and free UK delivery.
  • ProQuip vs Galvin Green: Both back their waterproofing for the long haul. Galvin Green guarantees the waterproof fabric of its GORE-TEX and Pertex jackets with no time limit; ProQuip's lifetime cover applies to stormFORCE PX. The PX9 is £180 against £359 for the Arlo.
  • ProQuip vs Glenmuir: Two Scottish heritage names with opposite strengths. Glenmuir (est. 1891, Lanark) is knitwear and polos first, sells Sunderland waterproofs alongside, and offers free UK delivery and returns. ProQuip is rain first and charges return postage.
  • ProQuip vs FootJoy: The pro-shop default against the specialist. FootJoy's HydroLite X jacket is £195 and trousers £140 on its UK site. ProQuip's PX9 undercuts the jacket at £180 and adds a lifetime waterproof guarantee.

Promos/Outlet Notes: The sale section is permanent and deep: 64 of 110 ProQuip-branded products were reduced at the start of October 2026, many by half or more. Rain suit bundles pair jacket, trousers and a waterproof bucket hat. Gift cards run £10–£100, and delivery is free on UK orders over £50.

Verdict: 8.1/10

Guaranteed waterproofing from £90 at full price, and often half that, is excellent value. The lifetime-backed PX9 at £180 undercuts the premium names. Constant discounting and customer-paid returns hold the score back.

ProQuip Golf Fit & Sizing (Usability)

ProQuip cuts its rainwear to go over golf clothes, not under them, so buy your normal size and let the layering room do its job. One size guide covers men, women and juniors, with chest, waist and leg measurements.

Notes:

  • Rain jackets: Men's S–3XL, matching a 36–38 inch to 50–52 inch chest. Aqualite and Aqualite Pro go to 4XL, and ProPac-Lite starts at XS. The PX9 adds side adjustor tabs for a closer fit.
  • Rain trousers: Sized S–3XL against 30–44 inch waists. The size chart lists 27–35 inch leg lengths, so check which lengths a given style offers.
  • Polos/Trousers: ProQuip says the Pro-Tech Links trousers and Dunes shorts are small at the waist and advises sizing up. Golf trousers and shorts run 30–44 inch waists.
  • Women's: XS–XXL, mapped to UK 8–20, with 27–31 inch leg lengths. ProQuip describes its Luna and Poppy quilted pieces as a generous fit.
  • Heat/Humidity: Half-sleeve rain tops are the summer option. Today's Golfer found the PX8 isn't the warmest shell, and Golf Monthly found the older PX7 bulkier than rivals.
  • Size Charts: One clear chart page with care advice: wash in non-biological powder at 30 degrees.

Accessibility/Range:

  • Men's S–3XL, with a few styles in 4XL; no dedicated big-and-tall range.
  • A full women's range in XS–XXL, from rain suits to quilted gilets.
  • Juniors' rainwear and polos in three sizes for ages 9–14.

Verdict: 7.7/10

Clear charts and honest sizing notes on the trousers help. The lack of on-site customer reviews means you're relying on the chart alone, and big golfers top out at 3XL in most styles.

ProQuip Golf Core Product Categories

stormFORCE PX Series

The flagship, and the reason to buy ProQuip. The new PX9 jacket (£180) uses fabric exclusive to ProQuip with four-way stretch, a fine mesh lining, cushioned collar, waterproof zips and "Swing Silent Tech". The PX8 stays on at £180, and stormFORCE PX trousers list at £150, with PX5 and PX6 on sale. Every PX jacket and trouser carries a lifetime waterproof guarantee.

Verdict: 8.8/10

Tempest Value Rainwear

ProQuip calls Tempest its "best value high performance" rainwear, and the numbers agree. The jacket and half-sleeve top list at £90 and are currently £45; trousers are £70, now £35. The Tempest rain suit bundle adds a waterproof bucket hat for £100. All of it carries the three-year waterproof guarantee.

Verdict: 8.3/10

Aqualite, ProPac-Lite & Ultimate HTX

The middle tier is where the variety sits. Aqualite and Aqualite Pro (£100–£120) are soft-feel stretch shells. ProPac-Lite (£120, hooded £130) weighs 263g and packs into its own pocket. Ultimate HTX (£140) adds a metallic liner that reflects body heat back at you on cold days. All carry the three-year guarantee.

Verdict: 8.3/10

Windproofs & Mid-layers

The 2026 Vortex windproofs (gilet £90, jacket £100, hooded jacket £110) join the Helm quilted range at the same prices. The new Chinook half-sleeve wind top (£59), Ostro quilted mid-layer (£59) and Hawk zip-neck (£70) fill the gaps. It's competent winter kit rather than anything distinctive.

Verdict: 7.6/10

Women's & Juniors

A real women's range: the Paige jacket (£120), new hooded Paige (£130) and half-sleeve Paige (£110), the new ProPac-Lite Jasmine (£130), Darcey trousers (£80) and the Ailsa Tour-Lite rain suit bundle. Juniors get Tempest and Aqualite rainwear from £60 to £95, which is rare in golf.

Verdict: 8.0/10

Polos, Trousers & Knitwear

The supporting cast. Pro-Tech polos list at £30–£39 and older styles are down to £10. Eagle stretch trousers (£55), Winter Tech trousers (£60) and £45 shorts are solid basics. The lambswool and Merino knits are all on clearance from £30. The site also sells Ashworth, which ProQuip distributes in the UK and Ireland.

Verdict: 6.8/10

ProQuip Golf Materials & Tech (Construction, Sustainability)

ProQuip's brief hasn't changed in decades: make waterproofs lighter, quieter and softer, seal every seam and guarantee the result. It says it develops fabrics for golf rather than adapting hiking or ski materials.

Backend (manufacturing & standards):

  • A British company; its delivery page says some products are made worldwide, including in Southeast and Eastern Asia. Product pages don't state a country.
  • Hot-melt seam sealing and precision lamination across the waterproof range, with long-standing fabric suppliers.
  • ProPac-Lite is made from evoPel recycled polyester using renewable materials and plant oils, with fluorocarbon-free finishes. There are no wider sustainability certifications.
  • Its Lighten the Load campaign pledged a donation to the mental health charity Mind for every ProPac-Lite jacket sold in 2025/26.

Application (on-garment features):

  • stormFORCE PX: exclusive four-way stretch fabric, mesh lining, cushioned collar, waterproof zips, side adjustor tabs and crease resistance for packing.
  • ProPac-Lite: 263g, taped heat-sealed seams, packs into its own pocket.
  • Ultimate HTX: "Heat Technology Extreme", a breathable metallic liner that reflects body heat onto your back.
  • Aqualite, ProFlex and Paige: soft-feel stretch outer fabrics for quieter swings.
  • Care matters: biological powder damages water repellency and can affect the guarantee.

Verdict: 8.4/10

Specialist rain engineering backed by guarantees nobody offers on weak seams. A real recycled-fabric story on ProPac-Lite helps, but there's little transparency on where garments are made.

ProQuip Golf Customer Support

ProQuip runs a small, reachable operation with a real phone line, and its guarantees do much of the reassuring. The returns process is the weak spot.

Channels & Hours

  • Phone +44 (0)1228 210551 and email info@proquipgolf.net, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
  • Head office in Carlisle; returns go to a warehouse in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.
  • A store locator for pro shops and retailers; distributors cover central Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Policies

  • Three-year waterproof guarantee on all waterproofs; lifetime on stormFORCE PX. Register garments through the guarantee page.
  • Full refund within 30 days if items are unworn, unwashed and labelled in original packaging. You pay return postage unless the item is faulty or wrong.
  • No direct exchanges: buy the right size, then return the original for a refund.
  • Refunds can take up to ten working days to arrive and five more to show.

Self-Serve

  • UK delivery is £5 up to £50 and free above, in 1–3 working days.
  • Canada and the rest of the world pay £20 under £200. It doesn't currently ship to the EU, US, Australia or New Zealand.
  • Size guide, technology page, Ryder Cup history and gift cards on-site.

Verdict: 7.6/10

A phone line and fast UK delivery are genuine positives, and Trustpilot reviewers praise the service. Customer-paid returns and buy-again exchanges feel dated next to rivals offering free returns.

What Are ProQuip's Review Ratings from Review Sites?

(As of October 2026)

  • Trustpilot: 4.5/5 from 326 reviews on a claimed profile that invites reviews and has replied to 83% of negative ones. One verified buyer reported "zero dampness or wet inside the jacket or pockets."
  • Press: Today's Golfer rated the PX8 4.5/5, noting "ProQuip has a reputation for producing quality waterproof golf clothing." Golf Monthly called it "a brand synonymous with waterproof protection", though it found the PX7 bulkier than rivals.
  • On-site: No customer reviews are shown on proquipgolf.net product pages.
  • Ryder Cup and reach: ProQuip says it has outfitted 240 Ryder Cup players and 20 teams, including Paul McGinley's 2014 European side at Gleneagles. On social it's quiet, with about 700 Instagram followers.

Synthesis:

The independent signals line up: customers and testers both say the waterproofs work and the service is responsive. The brand's reputation rests on product, not marketing, which explains the strong scores and the tiny social following.

Is ProQuip a Good Golf Brand?

Yes, for what it's built to do. ProQuip makes some of the best-value guaranteed rainwear in golf, from £90 Tempest jackets to the lifetime-backed £180 PX9, and its Ryder Cup record is real. It's weaker as a full wardrobe, and customer-paid returns are a niggle. For the layer under the shell, Three Putt is a UK brand with golf tees from £24.99 and heavyweight hoodies under £55, with free UK delivery. For more rain options, see our guide to the best waterproof golf clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions About ProQuip

Who owns ProQuip?

ProQuip Ltd is a British company with its head office in Carlisle. The Edinburgh Woollen Mill group bought ProQuip in 2009, and its UK companies are still registered at EWM's mill in Langholm. Since April 2023, Companies House has listed the UK group's controlling shareholder as Proquip Holdings Limited, registered in the UAE.

Where is ProQuip clothing made?

ProQuip was founded in North Berwick in 1981 and still calls itself Scottish, but its delivery page says some products are sourced and made worldwide, including in Southeast and Eastern Asia. Product pages don't name a country of origin, so email info@proquipgolf.net if you want to check a particular garment before buying.

What is the ProQuip waterproof guarantee?

All ProQuip waterproofs carry a three-year waterproof guarantee, and stormFORCE PX jackets and trousers, including the PX8 and PX9, carry a lifetime waterproof guarantee. You can register a garment through the guarantee page. Wash waterproofs in non-biological powder at 30 degrees, because ProQuip warns biological powder damages water repellency and can affect the guarantee.

How much does ProQuip delivery cost in the UK?

UK standard delivery is £5 on orders up to £50 and free above that, with delivery in 1–3 working days. ProQuip ships to Canada and the rest of the world for £20 under £200, but currently doesn't ship to the EU, the US, Australia or New Zealand.

How does ProQuip sizing run?

Rainwear is cut to fit over golf clothes, so buy your usual size. Men's sizes run S–3XL (36–52 inch chest), with Aqualite styles to 4XL, and women's run XS–XXL, mapped to UK 8–20. ProQuip says the Pro-Tech Links trousers and Dunes shorts run small at the waist, so size up.

Is ProQuip good quality?

The evidence says yes for its waterproofs. ProQuip scores 4.5/5 on Trustpilot from 326 reviews, Today's Golfer rated the stormFORCE PX8 4.5/5, and Golf Monthly praised the PX7's protection and guarantee. The criticisms are minor: the PX shells aren't the warmest, and the older PX7 felt bulkier than rivals.

What is ProQuip's returns policy?

You get a full refund if you return items within 30 days, unworn, unwashed, with labels attached and in the original packaging, plus a copy of your invoice. Return postage is your cost unless the item is faulty or wrong. For a different size, you order again and return the original for a refund.

What is ProQuip's Ryder Cup connection?

ProQuip first outfitted Jack Nicklaus's American team in 1983 and says it has supplied weatherwear to 20 Ryder Cup teams since, six American and 14 European, more than any other clothing maker. Paul McGinley chose ProQuip for Europe's 2014 team at Gleneagles, and it was Europe's preferred weatherwear supplier at Celtic Manor in 2010.

Where can I buy ProQuip in the UK?

The full range is on proquipgolf.net. GolfOnline lists around 64 ProQuip products, and Clubhouse Golf carries older HydroTec and ThermaTec lines at clearance prices. American Golf, Scottsdale Golf and Function18 don't list the brand, so use ProQuip's store locator to find a pro shop near you.
