Honest Stuburt Golf Clothing Review 2026 | Three Putt Golf

Updated on: October 1, 2026 • ~11 min read

Author: Graeme

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

A Manchester shoemaker from 1860, two Majors won in its shoes, and now a sensible men's golf wardrobe priced for club golfers.

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands

Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.

Verdict: 7.0/10

Stuburt is a Manchester golf brand that started life as a shoemaker in 1860 and now sells mostly men's golf clothing. We liked the honest pricing in pounds (performance polos from £29.99, a 10,000mm waterproof jacket at £99.99), free UK delivery over £60 and a 4.2 Trustpilot score from 669 reviews.

The heritage is real. Graeme McDowell won the 2010 US Open and Darren Clarke the 2011 Open in Stuburt shoes, and today the brand dresses Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC on LIV Golf.

Where it falls short for UK golfers: the clothing is men's only and stops at 3XL, and the brand's own store now sells just one golf boot. There are no exchanges, you pay your own return postage, and the waterproofs carry modest ratings and only the Jay trouser states a guarantee (one year).

This brand is best for club golfers who want a full men's outfit, polo to waterproof trousers, from a British name with real golf history, without paying £100 for any one piece.

Stuburt not the right brand for you? Check out our comprehensive list of the best Stuburt Golf alternatives.

Key Features

  • Signature tech/fabric: 92% polyester / 8% spandex performance polos with 4-way stretch, moisture management and UV50; waterproofs rated 10,000mm waterproof and 5,000 breathability with taped seams
  • Design language: Clean, mostly plain club golfwear with raised textured logos; the louder pieces come from the Fireballs GC tour collection
  • Fit profile: Product pages mark the fit as true to size, with a chest-measurement guide; buyer feedback is mixed
  • Range depth: Polos, tees, midlayers, gilets, trousers, shorts, waterproofs, padded jackets, caps, belts, gloves and one winter boot; no women's clothing

Pros

  • Performance polos from £29.99 at full price, with plenty of sale stock under £25
  • Waterproof jackets and trousers with published 10,000mm ratings and taped seams, all under £100
  • Free standard UK delivery over £60, next-day for £5.99, and refunds that include your original delivery charge
  • Genuine Major-winning footwear history and a current LIV Golf partnership with Fireballs GC

Cons

  • Men's clothing only: the sole women's items are a boot and a glove
  • No exchanges, and return postage is on you
  • The shoe range that made the name has shrunk to a single boot on stuburt.com
  • No country of manufacture and almost no sustainability information

Stuburt Pricing

Stuburt prices like a mid-market British club brand: £29.99–£49.99 for polos, £34.99–£69.99 for midlayers and £69.99–£99.99 for waterproofs at full price. About half the online catalogue (41 of 76 products) is reduced. A UK visitor sees prices in pounds, and standard UK delivery is free over £60 (£3.99 below).

Category Entry Typical Premium
Polos/Tees £29.99 £29.99–£44.99 £49.99
Midlayers £34.99 £44.99–£49.99 £69.99
Trousers/Shorts £34.99 £49.99 £49.99
Waterproofs/Outerwear £69.99 £69.99–£79.99 £99.99
Caps & Accessories £9.99 £12.99–£19.99 £24.99

Full prices on stuburt.com: Urban Performance polo £29.99, Play Well Muirfield tee £29.99, Play Well St Andrews polo £39.99, Typhoon long-sleeve polo £44.99, Hustle polo £49.99, Sigma second layer £34.99–£39.99, Keen pullover £44.99, Bae hoodie and Steers midlayer £49.99, Dash padded gilet £69.99, Sparrow shorts £34.99, Simp trousers £49.99, Shard waterproof trousers £69.99, Fracas jacket £79.99, Zenith jacket £99.99. On sale examples: Vibe polo £19.99 (was £34.99), Urban II trousers £19.99 (was £49.99), Nighthawk padded jacket £34.99 (was £69.99).

Comparison:

  • Stuburt vs Three Putt: Both British, both with a hoodie around £50: Stuburt's Bae is £49.99, Three Putt's heavyweight hoodies £45.99–£54.99. Stuburt dresses you from polo to waterproof trousers; Three Putt sticks to tees from £24.99, sweatshirts and hoodies, with free UK delivery. Club kit, or golf culture.
  • Stuburt vs Glenmuir: Two British heritage names, very different prices: Glenmuir's polos run £60–£85 on its own site, roughly double Stuburt's £29.99 Urban Performance polo. Glenmuir is the more traditional clubhouse choice and dresses women too, which Stuburt doesn't.
  • Stuburt vs FootJoy: Both made their names in golf shoes. FootJoy still sells a full shoe range, and polos at £52.50–£110 on its UK site; Stuburt's store is down to one boot, but its polos cost far less.
  • Stuburt vs Galvin Green: Stuburt's Zenith jacket is £99.99 with a 10,000mm rating; Galvin Green's Arlo is £359, with its waterproof fabric guaranteed with no time limit. Showers or storms: buy accordingly.

Promos/Outlet Notes: An outlet collection holds 33 products at up to 70% off, including Fireballs GC polos at £19.99 (were £59.99). There's 10% off a first order for an email sign-up, a free cap when you spend £35 on polos, and Klarna pay-later. Older lines are often cheaper direct: the Keston jogger is £19.99 on stuburt.com and £49.99 at Clubhouse Golf.

Verdict: 8.0/10

Fair full prices and genuinely cheap sale stock. Buy older lines direct, where they often undercut the stockists, and keep orders over £60 for free delivery.

Stuburt Fit & Sizing (Usability)

Stuburt sizes tops by chest measurement: Small fits a 34–36in chest and 3XL a 46–48in chest. Product pages put the fit marker on "true to size", but one September 2026 Trustpilot reviewer found the polo guide came up big and advised ordering your usual size.

Notes:

  • Polos/Tees: S–3XL on most styles, S–XXL on the older Fireballs polos and the Typhoon long-sleeve. National Club Golfer's 6ft 1in, larger-build tester was happy in an XL Alicante.
  • Midlayers: The Bae hoodie and Sigma run S–3XL; the Keen pullover and Dash gilet stop at XXL.
  • Trousers/Shorts: Simp trousers come in 30–40in waists with 29, 31 and 33in legs, and Urban II trousers go to a 42in waist. Sparrow shorts run W30–W40, Keston joggers 30–38in in short or regular.
  • Outerwear: The Zenith, Fracas and Craze jackets run S–3XL; Shard waterproof trousers come in 32–40in waists with 27–33in legs.
  • Heat/Humidity: Polos are UV50 and moisture-managing, but one recent reviewer found a polo too warm above about 22°C.
  • Size Charts: One size page covers chest, waist and inside leg in inches and EU sizes. Note the gap: 2XL fits 42–44in and 3XL 46–48in, so a 45in chest falls between.

Accessibility/Range:

  • Men's apparel runs S–3XL; there's no 4XL, and XS only on one old Fireballs tee.
  • No women's clothing: the Evolve Sport II boot (sizes 4–8) and an all-weather glove are the only women's items.
  • No junior range.

Verdict: 6.9/10

A clear chest-based guide and sensible leg lengths, but a men's-only range, a 3XL ceiling and no exchanges make a wrong size costly.

Stuburt Core Product Categories

Polos & Tees

The core of the range. The Urban Performance polo (£29.99, seven colours) uses a 92% polyester, 8% spandex knit with 4-way stretch and UV50, and the Hustle (£49.99) adds a ribbed texture. The Play Well capsule, added in late July 2026, brings a St Andrews polo (£39.99) and a Muirfield tee (£29.99), both UPF50+. National Club Golfer called the Alicante polo "extremely lightweight, almost barely noticeable when you're wearing it".

Verdict: 7.4/10

Midlayers (hoodies/pullovers/gilets)

The autumn/winter 2026 drop in early September brought the Keen pullover (£44.99) and Steers midlayer (£49.99), both thermal, windproof and 4-way stretch. They join the Bae hoodie (£49.99) and the Sigma second layer (£34.99–£39.99), an NCG favourite from the spring range. The Dash padded gilet (£69.99) tops the tier; sale crews like the Crane (£29.99, was £39.99) are the value picks.

Verdict: 7.2/10

Trousers & Shorts

The Simp trousers (£49.99) are lightweight and water repellent, and NCG found no tightness when squatting around the green. The Sparrow shorts (£34.99) use recycled polyester and elastane. The sale Urban II trousers and Keston joggers (both £19.99, were £49.99) are bargains, but stock is patchy: only 20 of the Simp's 72 colour and size combinations were in stock on 1 October.

Verdict: 6.8/10

Waterproofs & Outerwear

The new waterproofs are the range's key update: the Zenith jacket (£99.99), short-sleeved Fracas (£79.99) and Shard trousers (£69.99), all rated 10,000mm waterproof and 5,000 breathability, with taped seams and 4-way stretch. That's fine for showers but modest next to premium shells. The Craze (£79.99) and sale Nighthawk (£34.99) padded jackets cover cold, dry days.

Verdict: 7.0/10

Boots & Footwear

The shoe heritage is now mostly history. Stuburt's own store sells one golf boot, the Evolve Sport II (£69.99, men's 6–13, women's 4–8), with a waterproof bootie membrane, a seven-spike outsole and a one-year waterproof warranty. GolfOnline also lists an Ace casual shoe from £43.95.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Caps & Accessories

Caps (£13.99–£19.99), bobble hats (£12.99–£14.99), belts (£20.99–£24.99), gloves, snoods and a £24.99 umbrella. The Play Well Portrush cap (£19.99) is water repellent. There are no socks on the brand's own store.

Verdict: 6.8/10

Stuburt Materials & Tech (Construction, Sustainability)

Stuburt publishes more hard numbers than many value brands: polo fabric compositions and rainwear waterproof ratings. It doesn't say where anything is made, and its sustainability story runs to one pair of shorts.

Backend (manufacturing & standards):

  • Owned by World Wide Golf Brands Ltd of Whitefield, Manchester, which trades as Stuburt (incorporated 2008).
  • Designed in Manchester and London, according to the brand's 2026 press materials.
  • Country of manufacture isn't stated on product pages.
  • No sustainability certifications; the Sparrow shorts are the only item that mentions recycled polyester.

Application (on-garment features):

  • Polos: 92% polyester, 8% spandex, 4-way stretch, moisture management and UV50.
  • Waterproofs: 10,000mm waterproof, 5,000 breathability, taped seams and 4-way stretch; the Zenith adds a two-way zip.
  • Midlayers and padded pieces: The Keen and Steers are thermal and windproof with elasticated cuffs and hem; the Craze and Dash padded pieces are water repellent.
  • Trousers and shorts: The Simp, Keston and Sparrow are water repellent or water resistant, not waterproof.

Verdict: 6.6/10

Clear specs for the money, but no provenance and next to no sustainability story keep the score in check.

Stuburt Customer Support

Support is a small Manchester team you can phone as well as email. Returns are generous on refunds and strict on everything else.

Channels & Hours

  • Email info@stuburt.com, call 0161 886 4010 or use the website's contact form; opening hours aren't published.
  • Trustpilot notes the brand hasn't replied to negative reviews.

Policies

  • 30 days from delivery to return unworn, unwashed items with tags, original packaging and the returns form.
  • You pay return postage (tracked is advised). Refunds cover the item and, when the whole order comes back, the original delivery charge.
  • No exchanges: reorder the right size and return the original.
  • Stuburt pays return postage on faulty items. Keep a free gift and its retail price is deducted from your refund.

Self-Serve

  • Free standard UK delivery over £60 (3–5 working days), £3.99 below; next working day for £5.99 if ordered by 12pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Orders aim to leave within one working day.
  • GolfOnline and Clubhouse Golf both list the range. We couldn't find Stuburt at American Golf, Scottsdale Golf or Function18.

Verdict: 7.0/10

A real phone number and refunds that include delivery are genuine positives. No exchanges, paid returns and silence on negative reviews hold it back.

What Are Stuburt's Review Ratings from Review Sites?

(As of October 2026)

  • Trustpilot: 4.2/5 from 669 reviews on a claimed profile, with 82% five-star and 5% one-star. Only 19 arrived in the last 12 months. Recent complaints focus on paid returns (one buyer spent £7.20 sending back a rain suit) and polo sizing.
  • On-site: Stuburt shows retailer reviews, mostly from Amazon: 5.0 from four for the Urban Performance polo, 5.0 from five for the Bae hoodie and 4.9 from 10 for the Evolve Sport II boot. Small samples, some years old.
  • Press: National Club Golfer's spring 2026 round-up praised the Alicante polo, Simp trousers and Sigma layer. The Golf Wire covered the February 2026 rebrand with Wedge Golf Company, quoting owner Graeme Stevens: "This is the year that we become a truly worldwide brand".
  • Social and tour: About 8.8K Instagram followers, and Fireballs GC players, led by Sergio Garcia, wear Stuburt on LIV Golf.

Synthesis:

People who buy Stuburt mostly like it, and the press is positive, but the review base is ageing and thin for a brand with this much history. The sharpest recent criticism is about returns, not the clothes.

Is Stuburt a Good Golf Brand?

Yes, for the right golfer. Stuburt is a sound, fairly priced British club brand: £29.99 performance polos, sub-£100 waterproofs with published ratings, free delivery over £60 and a 4.2 Trustpilot score. The trade-offs are a men's-only range that stops at 3XL, paid returns with no exchanges, waterproofs built for showers rather than storms, and a shoe heritage that now amounts to one boot. If you'd rather wear golf culture than club uniform, Three Putt's golf tees and heavyweight hoodies come from a UK brand with free UK delivery. For more home-grown labels, see our guide to UK golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Stuburt

Who owns Stuburt?

Stuburt is owned by World Wide Golf Brands Ltd of Whitefield, Manchester, which trades as Stuburt. Graeme Stevens, a PGA professional, is described in the trade press as owner and managing director. He bought the brand out of administration, according to Golf Retailing, and Companies House lists two other significant shareholders.

Where is Stuburt clothing made?

Stuburt says its clothing is designed in Manchester and London, and the business is run from Whitefield, Manchester. Product pages don't state where the clothing is manufactured, and the brand publishes no factory information. The "British since 1860" line refers to its origins with shoemakers Stubbs and Burt, not to UK manufacturing today.

Does Stuburt still make golf shoes?

Barely. Stuburt exported over a million pairs of Pro Am shoes to America in the 1980s, and McDowell and Clarke won Majors in its shoes. Today its own store sells one golf boot, the Evolve Sport II waterproof boot at £69.99, in men's and women's sizes. GolfOnline also lists an Ace casual shoe.

How much is Stuburt delivery in the UK?

Standard UK delivery (3–5 working days) is free over £60 and £3.99 below, including BFPO and UK offshore addresses. Next working day delivery to the UK mainland costs £5.99 if you order by 12pm, Monday to Friday. Orders aim to leave within one working day, and UK buyers pay in pounds with no import charges.

How does Stuburt sizing run?

Product pages mark Stuburt as true to size, and tops are sized by chest: Small fits 34–36in and 3XL 46–48in, with no size for a 44–46in chest. One September 2026 reviewer found the polo guide came up big, so consider your usual size. Trousers run to 40in or 42in waists with 29–33in legs.

Is Stuburt good quality?

For the price, yes. Polos are 92% polyester and 8% spandex with 4-way stretch and UV50, and the waterproofs carry 10,000mm ratings with taped seams. National Club Golfer rated the Alicante polo and Simp trousers highly, and Trustpilot scores the brand 4.2 from 669 reviews. Just don't expect premium-shell storm protection.

What is Stuburt's returns policy?

You have 30 days from delivery to return unworn, unwashed items with tags and the returns form. You pay postage back to Manchester, but the refund covers the item and, if the whole order comes back, your original delivery charge. There are no exchanges, and faulty items go back at Stuburt's cost.

Which tour players wear Stuburt?

Graeme McDowell won the 2010 US Open and Darren Clarke the 2011 Open in Stuburt shoes. In 2024 Stuburt became the first apparel brand to partner with several LIV Golf teams. The Torque GC and Stinger GC deals ended after 2025, and Stuburt now dresses only Fireballs GC, captained by Sergio Garcia.

Where can I buy Stuburt in the UK?

Direct from stuburt.com, which often has the lowest prices on older lines, or from GolfOnline and Clubhouse Golf, which both list current Stuburt clothing and the Evolve Sport II boot. We couldn't find Stuburt at American Golf, Scottsdale Golf or Function18. Buying direct also brings free delivery over £60.
