Swannies Golf vs Three Putt: US Golf Polos or UK Golf Streetwear

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Two brands that think golf should be fun: one dresses the whole round from Minnesota, the other sells heavyweight graphic cotton from Leeds. Here's who should buy which.
How We Review Golf Clothing Brands
Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.
Verdict and Quick Pick
Swannies is a Minnesota golf brand selling stretch polos, layers, shorts and joggers for men, women and juniors. Three Putt is a Leeds golf streetwear brand selling tees, long-sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies. Buy Swannies for on-course kit and family golf. Buy Three Putt for off-course style, priced in pounds with free UK delivery.
Best for off-course style and easy UK buying: Three Putt. Graphic tees from £24.99 and 430gsm hoodies from £45.99, with free UK delivery. Unlike a direct Swannies order, a wrong size can go back within 14 days.
Best for on-course polos and dressing the family: Swannies. Its core polos cost $65–$85, with four-way stretch, many in REPREVE recycled polyester. Women's and junior ranges, shorts, joggers and layers make it a full golf wardrobe, as long as you're sure of your size.

Brand Overview
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt Golf is a UK golf streetwear brand based in Leeds. Its streetwear comes as tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies. Each comes in six graphic designs: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green.
The limits are worth stating plainly. There are no performance polos, trousers, shorts, outerwear, waterproofs or caps, and no women's-specific range. Three Putt is golf culture to wear around the game, not kit for a wet medal round.
Swannies Golf
Swannies is a Minnesota golf brand founded by University of Minnesota classmates Matt Stang and Adam Iversen. It's named after their friend Sam Swanson, who drew the swan logo. According to its story page, it began in August 2015 as a Kickstarter for a soft-spiked golf sandal, which "never gained traction".
The founders showed their first apparel line at the PGA Merchandise Show in January 2017. Stang has said sales took five years to reach $1 million, then grew to nearly $30 million over the next five. Thousands of golf courses and shops in the US and Canada stock the brand.
In October 2026 its store listed 429 products across men's, women's and juniors' clothing, plus licensed ranges for nearly 30 US universities. Since January 2025 it has been the official apparel partner of RangeGoats GC, Bubba Watson's LIV Golf team. It also runs a flagship store in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Key Features and Fabrics
Three Putt Golf
- Tees: 100% cotton, 305gsm, relaxed fit, in five colourways per design.
- Long-sleeve tees: 305gsm, 100% cotton, with a loose drop-shoulder fit.
- Sweatshirts: 400gsm cotton crewnecks in a regular fit.
- Hoodies: 430gsm, 56% cotton and 44% polyester, with an oversized drop-shoulder fit, in four colourways per design.
These are cotton garments, not technical performance wear. They don't offer moisture-wicking, stretch technology or weather protection. What they offer is fabric weight and a relaxed streetwear shape, with the graphics doing the talking.
Swannies Golf
- Polos: four-way stretch, moisture-wicking fabric and a "stay right" collar that holds its shape. The Tanner and Hazelwood are 100% REPREVE recycled polyester; some premium prints blend REPREVE with bamboo charcoal and spandex.
- Hoodies: the $89 Vandyke is 88% polyester and 12% spandex with four-way stretch. The $99 Camden is a honeycomb-textured blend of 65% cotton, 31% polyester and 4% spandex.
- Shorts and joggers: the Fairway Shorts are 77% nylon and 23% spandex with an 8-inch inseam. The Mulligan Joggers come in two inseams.
- Outerwear: jackets and anoraks at $129–$149 and a vest, but nothing described as waterproof.
Its stretch polos and layers are made for swinging in warm weather, but product pages give no UPF ratings and there are no tailored trousers. For a British winter round, you'd still need waterproof golf clothing from another brand.
Price Comparison
| Category | Three Putt | Swannies (full price, October 2026) |
| Tees | £24.99–£30.99 | Core tees $35 (shown as £28 to UK visitors) |
| Long-sleeve tees | £28.99–£35.99 | Not listed |
| Hoodies and sweatshirts | Hoodies £45.99–£54.99; sweatshirts £37.99–£47.99 | Hoodies $89–$149 (£69–£116) |
| Polos | Not sold | Core polos $65–$85 (£51–£66); college and RangeGoats polos $89–$99 |
| Shorts and joggers | Not sold | Shorts $69–$79 (£54–£62); Mulligan Joggers $99 (£77) |
| Outerwear | Not sold | Jackets and anoraks $129–$149 |
| UK delivery | Free | No UK rate published |
| At the St Andrews Links shop | Not applicable | Cadence polo £95; Harvey and Rivera midlayers and Luke hoodie £130; junior polos £55 |
Swannies' site shows UK visitors prices in pounds: a core polo showed as £51–£66 in October 2026, fair for a stretch golf shirt. The catch is what comes after the sticker price.
Swannies publishes no UK shipping rate, and says nothing about whether import charges are collected at checkout. Under UK rules on goods from abroad, VAT applies, and orders worth more than £135 can also attract customs duty. A polo, a hoodie and a pair of joggers would clear that line.
Tees are close on price: £24.99–£30.99 at Three Putt against £28 for a core Swannies tee, before any UK shipping. Hoodies are where Three Putt is clearly cheaper, at £45.99–£54.99 for 430gsm against £69–£116 at Swannies.
The St Andrews Links shop sells a handful of Swannies pieces in pounds, with a UK returns route, at a premium. Its Harvey and Rivera midlayers cost £130, against $109 (shown as £85) on swannies.co.
Price Verdict
On hoodies, Three Putt is clearly cheaper, and with free UK delivery it's simpler to buy from Britain. Swannies earns real credit for $65–$85 stretch polos and for shorts, joggers and layers that Three Putt doesn't make at any price. Just budget for UK shipping and possible import charges on a direct order.
Fit and Sizing
Three Putt Golf
Each garment has one fit. Tees are relaxed and run from S to 2XL. Long-sleeve tees have an oversized drop-shoulder fit (S to XL), sweatshirts a regular fit and hoodies an oversized drop-shoulder fit (both S to 2XL). The shapes suit layering and everyday wear more than a tucked-in round.
Swannies Golf
Swannies cuts athletic. Its product pages say "Our polos are an athletic fit" and "Our hoodies are an athletic fit". Several pages suggest sizing up for a more relaxed fit, and the Sully Shorts page warns that the waist runs small.
Most men's tops run S–XXL, with some styles to 3XL or 4XL. The Vandyke and Camden hoodies run from XXS to 4XL. Men's shorts come in waists from 30 to 40 inches, and the Mulligan Joggers in 28-inch and 30-inch inseams.
Women's polos run XS–XXL. Junior sizes run XS–XL (youth 6/7 to 18), with a few polos from toddler sizes. Product pages carry a one-line fit note rather than a measurement chart, which matters when a UK order from its own store can't be returned.
Fit Verdict
A split. Swannies covers more bodies, with XXS–4XL hoodies and real women's and junior ranges, and its athletic polos suit golfers who like a trim fit. Both brands’ tees stop at XXL. If you're between sizes, Three Putt is the lower-risk buy from Britain.
Style and Versatility
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt is golf streetwear built around six graphic designs, each across a hoodie, sweatshirt, tee and long sleeve, so a tee and a hoodie can match. Tees come in five colourways per design and hoodies in four. They sit naturally with jeans or joggers, and suit relaxed rounds, the range and social golf. Golfers at clubs with a collared-shirt dress code will want a polo rather than a tee.
Swannies Golf
Swannies leans on bright prints, flying swans and named collections such as Black Swan, Golden Era and Endless Summer. A Vice Golf collaboration and the RangeGoats team kit add some tour flavour. The polos are proper collared golf shirts, so they work at a members' club.
The college ranges are its other style lane: Camden hoodies, Hazelwood polos and Owen quarter-zips carrying university logos. To a British eye, that look reads very American.
Style Verdict
Swannies wins on the course: a printed stretch polo under a quarter-zip looks right on the first tee. Three Putt wins off it, with heavyweight cotton and golf graphics that look at home in the pub or on the sofa. Plenty of golfers will happily wear both.

Quality, Durability and Sustainability
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt's quality story is about fabric weight: 305gsm tees, 305gsm long-sleeves, 400gsm sweatshirts and 430gsm hoodies. On sustainability, the honest answer is short. Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims, and holds no sustainability certifications. Its tees are 100% cotton.
Swannies Golf
Swannies has one of the more detailed recycled-fabric stories in casual golfwear. Its sustainability page says over 10 million plastic bottles have been turned into Swannies products. It puts REPREVE recycled polyester in 50% of its products in one passage and 60% in another.
Packaging is 100% recycled and reusable through EcoEnclose, and it funds VCS-certified carbon offset projects through Greenstory. It works with two partner factories in Thailand and El Salvador, which it says pay workers fairly. No third-party certification is named for the clothing itself.
On durability, Swannies' on-site reviews averaged 4.6 out of 5 across more than 4,000 reviews in July 2026. Fit, not quality, was the usual complaint.
Quality Verdict
Swannies wins on technical fabric and sustainability, with a recycled-polyester programme it explains in detail. Three Putt's case is fabric weight, published for every garment from 305gsm tees to 430gsm hoodies. Neither brand names a product certification.
Customer Support and Returns
Three Putt Golf
UK delivery is free on every order. Support is by email at support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk. You can return items within 14 days of delivery: email support first, and note that you pay the return postage.
Swannies Golf
Support runs by email at customerservice@swannies.co from 6am to 2pm CST. The help page promises a reply within 24 business hours. US customers get 30 days to return unworn items with tags attached, and product pages advertise a "100% Satisfaction Guarantee".
The same help page rules UK buyers out: Swannies is "unable to process returns or exchanges for international (non-U.S.) orders". Free shipping applies to US orders only, and its shipping policy page is blank.
Items bought from other retailers go back to the shop that sold them. That makes the St Andrews Links shop the safer UK route. It charges £6 for delivery to Great Britain, or nothing over £75, and accepts returns within three months of purchase.
Support Verdict
Three Putt wins for UK buyers. Its 14-day returns cost you the postage, but a wrong size can go back. A direct Swannies order can't be returned or exchanged, and no UK shipping cost is published.
Our Pick
Buy Swannies if you want stretch golf polos at fair prices, a family wardrobe with women's and junior ranges, or college and RangeGoats kit. It's the better on-course brand of the two, with the more detailed recycled-fabric story. Order direct only when you're sure of your size, or use a UK stockist. Our full Swannies Golf review covers the range in more depth.
Buy Three Putt if you want heavyweight golf streetwear for the clubhouse and beyond: graphic tees from £24.99, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and 430gsm hoodies. Everything is priced in pounds with free UK delivery.
Plenty of golfers will sensibly own both: a Swannies polo on the course and a Three Putt hoodie afterwards. For more labels in the same vein, see our guide to American golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Three Putt vs Swannies Golf
Is Three Putt a good alternative to Swannies?
For hoodies, sweatshirts and tees, yes. Three Putt's hoodies cost less, its tees and hoodies are heavyweight cotton (305gsm and 430gsm), and everything ships free in the UK. For polos, shorts, joggers or a women's or junior range, no. Three Putt doesn't make them, and Swannies does.
Which brand is better on the course?
Swannies. Its polos have four-way stretch and moisture-wicking fabric, many in REPREVE recycled polyester, and they meet a collared-shirt dress code. Shorts, joggers and quarter-zips complete the outfit. Three Putt's cotton tees and hoodies suit casual rounds and the range. Neither brand sells waterproofs.
Is Three Putt good quality?
Three Putt uses heavyweight fabrics: 100% cotton 305gsm tees, 305gsm long-sleeves, 400gsm cotton sweatshirts and 430gsm hoodies. They are casual cotton garments, not performance wear. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery if something isn't right, after you've emailed support.
How do the fits differ?
Swannies cuts athletic and suggests sizing up on several pages for a relaxed fit. Three Putt's tees are relaxed and its hoodies oversized with dropped shoulders. Both brands’ tees stop at XXL. Swannies goes smaller, with XXS in some hoodies, and adds women's and junior sizes.
Does Swannies ship to the UK?
Its site shows UK visitors prices in pounds, but Swannies publishes no UK shipping rate, delivery time or duty terms. Free shipping is for US orders only. Its help page says it can't process returns or exchanges on international orders. Treat a direct UK order as final, or buy from a UK stockist such as the St Andrews Links shop.
Are Swannies and Three Putt sustainable?
Swannies makes the bigger claims. It says REPREVE recycled polyester goes into 50–60% of its products, uses recycled packaging through EcoEnclose and funds VCS-certified carbon offsets. No product certification is named. Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims; its tees are 100% cotton.
Which brand is better value?
For hoodies bought from Britain, Three Putt: 430gsm hoodies from £45.99, with free UK delivery. Tees are close on price. Swannies' $65–$85 polos are fair value for stretch golf shirts, showing as £51–£66 to UK visitors in October 2026. UK shipping and any import charges come on top.
Which brand is better off the course?
Three Putt is built for it: long-sleeves and heavyweight cotton tees, sweatshirts and hoodies in six golf graphics that sit naturally with jeans. Swannies' hoodies, crewnecks and tees work casually too, with bright prints and college logos. Its strongest product, though, is the golf polo.
