Fairway & Greene vs Three Putt: Clubhouse Polos or UK Golf Streetwear

Author: Graeme

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

An American clubhouse label that dresses the PGA of America's staff, against a Leeds streetwear brand that sells four heavyweight garments. They overlap far less than the word "golf" suggests.

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands

Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.

Verdict and Quick Pick

Fairway & Greene is a classic American golf brand built on stretch performance polos, quarter-zips and merino windsweaters, with a full ladies' line. Three Putt is a Leeds golf streetwear brand selling heavyweight tees, long-sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies from £23.99. Pick Fairway & Greene for the course and clubhouse, and Three Putt for off it.

Best for golf style off the course on a UK budget: Three Putt. Heavyweight tees, sweatshirts and hoodies with golf graphics, priced in pounds from £23.99 to £51.99 with free UK delivery. It is casual wear, not performance kit, and the range has no collared shirts.

Best for dress-code rounds and clubhouse layers: Fairway & Greene. Its wicking cutaway-collar polos pass any dress code, and its Caves Quarter Zip is close to perfectly rated by buyers. UK prices show in pounds but exclude VAT, and no UK delivery fee is published.

Brand Overview

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt is a UK golf streetwear brand based in Leeds. The range is deliberately narrow: tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies.

Each comes in six graphic designs: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green. The idea is golf culture you can wear anywhere, rather than a full on-course wardrobe.

That brings honest limits. The range has no polos, trousers, shorts, outerwear, waterproofs or caps, and no women's-specific line. If your club has a collared-shirt dress code, you will need a polo from elsewhere.

Fairway & Greene

Fairway & Greene has made classic American golf clothing for more than 30 years. It belongs to New York's Summit Golf Brands, alongside sister labels B.Draddy and Zero Restriction.

The credentials are current. Fairway & Greene has been the PGA of America's official staff uniform supplier since a multi-year deal announced in 2025. Ryder Cup player Sepp Straka signed in January 2026, calling it "a traditional golf brand with a very classic style" (The Golf Wire).

Polos lead the range, with nine styles carrying a Made in the USA label and Italian merino windsweaters at the top. A full ladies' line adds polos, skorts and merino layers.

For British golfers, the catch is the buying. The site shows UK visitors prices in pounds, but VAT and delivery come on top. American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18, Clubhouse Golf and GolfOnline had no Fairway & Greene stock in October 2026.

Key Features and Fabrics

Three Putt Golf

  • Tees: 100% cotton, 260gsm, relaxed fit, S–3XL, five colourways per design.
  • Long-sleeve tees: 280gsm, 85% cotton / 15% polyester, loose drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL.
  • Sweatshirts: 400gsm cotton crewneck, regular fit, S–2XL.
  • Hoodies: 430gsm, 56% cotton / 44% polyester, oversized drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL, four colourways per design.

These are heavyweight casual garments, not technical performance wear. Do not expect moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or weather protection.

Fairway & Greene

  • Cutaway polos: the Middleton Solid and Bryant Stripe are 88% polyester and 12% spandex, with UPF 50+ and a memory-wire cutaway collar you can shape. The fit tapers slightly.
  • Made in the USA polos: the USA Tournament Tech polo, the brand's original Made in the USA style, is a 94% polyester, 6% spandex jersey with a two-button placket.
  • Caves layers: the Caves Quarter Zip is a 90% polyester, 10% spandex double jersey with a contrast collar and UPF 50+. A hooded version, the Caves Quarter Zip Hoodie, joined the autumn 2026 range.
  • Windsweaters: the Baruffa Merino quarter-zip pairs Zegna Baruffa Merino wool with a windproof Japanese taffeta lining. The herringbone-knit Commodore arrived in September 2026. Windsweaters are hand wash or dry clean only.
  • Outerwear and shorts: the Harold Full-Zip Jacket is water-repellent ciré with a mesh lining, and the quilted Mariner is the other men's jacket. Neither is a waterproof, and bottoms are a single Larson Tech Short.

One garment from each sums up the gap. A Three Putt hoodie is a 430gsm cotton/polyester layer built around a golf graphic, for £45.99–£51.99. A Caves Quarter Zip Hoodie is a light stretch performance layer for the course, at £137 before VAT.

Fairway & Greene prices are what its site shows a UK visitor in October 2026, at full price. They are straight conversions of US prices ($84 for the Middleton) with no UK VAT added, so they move with the exchange rate.

Its terms say posted prices do not include taxes, shipping, handling, customs or import charges. With 20% VAT, the £65–£69 cutaway polos come to about £78–£83 before delivery. Under UK rules on goods from abroad, customs duty can also be due on parcels worth over £135.

A Bryant Stripe polo and a Caves Quarter Zip come to about £189, which crosses that line. The shipping page lists US UPS services only, so the UK delivery cost isn't published. Sale items are final sale.

Price Verdict

Three Putt's dearest item, a £51.99 hoodie, costs less than Fairway & Greene's cheapest core polo before VAT, and well under half a Caves Quarter Zip Hoodie. Fairway & Greene's prices buy performance fabric and a collar. For value per pound in Britain, Three Putt wins clearly.

Fit and Sizing

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt sizes run S–3XL on tees and S–2XL on everything else. Tees have a relaxed fit, long-sleeves a loose drop shoulder and sweatshirts a regular fit. Hoodies are oversized with a drop shoulder, so size down if you want a closer look.

Fairway & Greene

Fairway & Greene cuts for the traditional golfer, not the slim tour athlete. Its FAQ says its "cuts are tailored but not tight", and the cutaway polos taper slightly from chest to hips. One universal size chart gives inches, centimetres and a US/UK/EU conversion.

Most men's styles run S–3XL. Some core styles go further: the Bryant Stripe and USA Tournament Tech polos, the Harold Full-Zip Jacket and the Commodore all reach 5XL. Ladies' styles run XS–XL or XS–2XL.

Fit Verdict

Fairway & Greene wins for bigger golfers, with some core polos to 5XL against Three Putt's 3XL tees and 2XL everything else. Choose it for a gently tapered collared shirt, and Three Putt for roomy streetwear shapes. A wrong Fairway & Greene size from Britain goes back at your own cost, so check the chart first.

Style and Versatility

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt is golf streetwear: golf-themed graphics on heavyweight fabric, cut in relaxed and oversized shapes. A hoodie works on a casual range session, at the pub after a round or as a weekend layer. Tees and hoodies are not right for a members' competition at a traditional club, so check your golf dress code first.

Fairway & Greene

Fairway & Greene's look is the classic American clubhouse: yarn-dyed stripes, coastal prints, contrast collars, flag motifs and tournament embroidery.

A Bryant polo under a Caves Quarter Zip looks as right at Sunday lunch as on the first tee, and the merino windsweaters look like knitwear but stop the wind. What it doesn't do is streetwear: there are no tees, and the prints stay in clubhouse territory.

Style Verdict

Both brands cross over, in opposite directions. Fairway & Greene moves from the course into the clubhouse and smart-casual weekends. Three Putt moves from golf culture into everyday streetwear. Choose by where you will wear it most: on a course with a dress code, or everywhere else.

Quality, Durability and Sustainability

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt's quality story is weight. Tees are 260gsm cotton, sweatshirts are 400gsm and hoodies are 430gsm. On sustainability, Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims. Its tees are 100% cotton.

Fairway & Greene

Fairway & Greene's quality case rests on what its buyers say. On its own site in October 2026, the Caves Quarter Zip averages 5.0/5 from 108 reviews and the Baruffa windsweater 4.95/5 from 20.

The fabric choices are sensible: wicking poly-spandex for warm rounds and Italian Zegna Baruffa Merino for cold ones. Nine styles sit in a Made in the USA collection, though product pages don't state the country of origin for the rest. Most polos and layers are machine washable.

Sustainability is thin. The claims sit on a Summit Golf Brands page of general aims, such as recycled polyester and water-efficient dyeing. It gives no certifications or figures for Fairway & Greene itself.

Quality Verdict

Fairway & Greene wins on technical fabric and published buyer ratings, and Three Putt on heavyweight fabric at a low price. Neither publishes certified eco credentials. Choose Fairway & Greene for performance layers and Three Putt for heavy casual ones.

Customer Support and Returns

Three Putt Golf

Delivery is free across the UK. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Email support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk first, and note that you pay the return postage. Support is by email.

Fairway & Greene

Fairway & Greene's returns page gives 30 days on non-custom, non-decorated items bought direct. Final-sale and decorated pieces can't be returned.

International returns and exchanges are accepted. You pay the return shipping, start the return in its online portal and buy the label from a local carrier. Refunds can take up to 14 business days once the parcel arrives.

Support runs by phone on 888-924-1222, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm Eastern time, which is 2pm to 10:30pm in the UK. You can also email CustomerCare@FairwayandGreene.com.

Support Verdict

Fairway & Greene's phone line and 30-day window beat Three Putt's email-only support and 14-day window. From Britain, though, return postage to the US is yours, and VAT and any duty add to the bill. Three Putt is simpler for a UK buyer, with prices in pounds and free UK delivery. With both brands, you pay to send a return.

Our Pick

Buy Fairway & Greene if you want proper clubhouse kit and already know your size. The £65–£69 cutaway polos pass a dress code and cope with a hot day, and the Caves Quarter Zip and Baruffa windsweaters cover the cold. It suits golfers who will accept VAT on top, an unpublished delivery fee and return postage to the US.

Buy Three Putt if you want golf style for everywhere else, priced in pounds with free UK delivery. Heavyweight tees from £23.99 and hoodies under £52 cover the range session and the pub after. A sweatshirt or long-sleeve tee rounds it out. If your club requires a collar, you will still need a polo from elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions About Three Putt vs Fairway & Greene

Is Three Putt a good alternative to Fairway & Greene?

For off-course style, yes, and at a fraction of the price. Three Putt sells heavyweight tees, long-sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies from £23.99, priced in pounds with free UK delivery. It is not an alternative for a dress-code round, because the range has no polos, trousers or outerwear. For that, a Fairway & Greene cutaway polo is the stronger buy.

Does Fairway & Greene ship to the UK?

Yes. The UK is on its shipping list, and UK visitors see prices in pounds. Those are US prices converted without UK VAT, and the terms say posted prices exclude taxes, shipping, customs and import charges. No UK delivery fee is published, and there are no UK stockists.

How much does Fairway & Greene cost in the UK?

Shown to a UK visitor in October 2026, before VAT and delivery: cutaway polos £65–£69, Made in the USA polos £76–£84 and the Caves Quarter Zip about £120. Baruffa Merino windsweaters run from about £224 to £314. With 20% VAT, a £69 polo comes to about £83.

Can I return Fairway & Greene from the UK?

Yes. Its returns page accepts returns and exchanges on international orders, within 30 days and through its online portal. You pay the return shipping and buy the label from a local carrier. Decorated and final-sale pieces can't be returned. Three Putt also asks you to pay return postage, within 14 days.

Which is better on the course?

Fairway & Greene, clearly. Its collared polos meet a dress code, with wicking stretch fabric and UPF 50+ for hot days, and the merino windsweaters block the wind. Three Putt's tees and hoodies suit a relaxed round at an easy-going club, but offer no performance fabric or weather protection. Neither brand sells golf trousers or a waterproof.

Are Fairway & Greene and Three Putt sustainable?

Neither makes a strong case. Fairway & Greene's sustainability sits on a Summit Golf Brands page of general aims, with no certifications or figures for the brand itself. Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims. Its tees are 100% cotton.

Which is better value?

For a UK buyer, Three Putt. Its whole range sits between £23.99 and £51.99, with free UK delivery. A Fairway & Greene cutaway polo is £65–£69 before VAT and delivery. Fairway & Greene's prices buy performance fabric and a collar, but pound for pound, Three Putt costs far less.
