Honest Slazenger Golf Clothing Review 2026 | Three Putt Golf

Updated on: October 1, 2026 • ~11 min read

Author: Graeme

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Open-winning golf balls in the 1890s, Bond's jumper in Goldfinger, and £12 polos on the Sports Direct rail today.

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands

Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.

Verdict: 6.6/10

Slazenger Golf is the budget golf clothing line of Slazenger, the 1881 British sports brand owned by Frasers Group and sold mainly through Sports Direct. We liked the prices (polos at £9.50–£12, trousers at £15), multibuys like 2 for £19 on polos, and a size run from XS to 5XL.

The heritage is real: Wimbledon's official ball since 1902, golf clubs and balls made since the 1890s, and Sean Connery's Slazenger jumper in Goldfinger. Since April 2026 a separate premium label, Slazenger Off-Court, has sold £40–£90 heritage fashion through Flannels, but it isn't golf clothing.

Where it falls short for UK golfers: the range is generic polyester basics with no named fabric technology, and there's no genuinely waterproof jacket. The buying terms bite too: £4.99 delivery on every standard order, returns from £4.99, no exchanges, and online orders can't go back to a store.

This brand is best for beginners, juniors, occasional golfers and anyone kitting out a spare bag for the lowest possible outlay.

Slazenger not the right brand for you? Check out our comprehensive list of the best Slazenger Golf alternatives.

Key Features

  • Signature tech/fabric: Lightweight 100% polyester polos, trousers and shorts, a 65/35 polyester-cotton check polo, and polyester-elastane stretch on the zip top and check trousers; no proprietary fabric platform
  • Design language: Plain, check, micro-stripe and all-over-print club styling with the Slazenger logo doing the heavy lifting
  • Fit profile: Regular high-street fits; men's polos up to 5XL and trouser waists from 28 to 50 in short, regular and long legs
  • Range depth: Polos, zip tops, a gilet, trousers, shorts, two water-resistant jackets and caps, plus women's and junior basics, shoes, balls, clubs and trolleys

Pros

  • Some of the lowest prices in UK golfwear: £12 polos (2 for £19) and £15 trousers (2 for £23)
  • A wide size run, with polos to 5XL and trouser waists from 28 to 50
  • 145 years of genuine sporting heritage, from Wimbledon balls to the Goldfinger jumper
  • Buy in a Sports Direct store and you can take it back there within 28 days for a credit note or, where possible, an exchange

Cons

  • Generic polyester basics with no named fabric technology and no detail beyond composition
  • No genuinely waterproof jacket: both jackets are listed as water-resistant, and one is down to size S
  • £4.99 standard delivery on every order, and online returns cost from £4.99
  • No exchanges on online orders, and online orders can't be returned to a store

Slazenger Golf Pricing

Slazenger is about as cheap as credible golf clothing gets in Britain. The RRPs are modest, and Sports Direct sells well below them, with "up to 70% off" and multibuy flags across most of the range. The same pieces list at full RRP on slazenger.com, so Sports Direct is where the value is.

Figures below are Sports Direct UK prices on 1 October 2026, in GBP.

Category Entry Typical Premium
Polos £9.50 £12 (2 for £19) £12.99
Midlayers £7.50 (clearance) £16 (2 for £25) £18
Trousers/Shorts £8 (clearance) £12–£15 (2 for £19–£23) £20
Outerwear £18 (size S only) £21.99 £21.99
Caps/Accessories £5.99 £6 £16.99

Sports Direct prices with RRPs in brackets: Performance Polo £9.50 (£22.99), Check and Micro Stripe polos £12 or 2 for £19 (£24.99), AOP Golf Polo £12.99, Zip Golf Pullover Top £16 or 2 for £25 (£31.99), Club House gilet £18 (£59.99), Golf Trousers £15 or 2 for £23 (£34.99), Performance Golf Trousers £20 or 2 for £30 (£49.99), Check Golf Trousers £19.99 (£54.99), Golf Shorts £12 or 2 for £19 (£24.99), water-resistant jackets £21.99 (£56.99) and £18 (£79.99) and Golf Flex Cap £5.99 (£14.99). Standard delivery adds £4.99.

Comparison:

  • Slazenger vs Three Putt: Different jobs at different money. A Slazenger polo is £12 before £4.99 delivery. Three Putt is a UK brand with tees from £24.99, heavyweight hoodies at £45.99–£54.99 and free UK delivery. Slazenger fills the bag cheaply; Three Putt is for when the clothes should say something.
  • Slazenger vs Lyle & Scott: Two British heritage names on the same Sports Direct shelves. Lyle & Scott's Green Eagle golf polo is £30 there (RRP £39.99) against Slazenger's £12, and the eagle carries far more design intent. Slazenger wins on price; Lyle & Scott wins on polish.
  • Slazenger vs Under Armour: Under Armour's Tech Polo is £27.99 and its Matchplay Polo £32.99 at Sports Direct, more than twice a Slazenger polo. That buys a performance brand's fabric development, including named lines like ArmourDry.
  • Slazenger vs Puma: The awkward one. Puma golf polos sit on the same discount rail, with some at £12 (RRP £40) and the MATTR polo at £25 (RRP £50). When a tour brand drops to Slazenger money, the tour brand is the better buy.

Promos/Outlet Notes: Multibuys are the real price list: 2 for £19 on polos and shorts, 2 for £23 on trousers, 2 for £25 on zip tops and 2 for £30 on performance trousers. "Up to 70% off" flags cover much of the range, and an extra 20% off outlet code was running on 1 October. Frasers Plus offers interest-free pay-in-3, and many pieces can be personalised.

Verdict: 8.3/10

Hard to beat on cost per garment, and multibuys make it cheaper still. But £4.99 delivery and return fees from £4.99 take a real bite out of a £12 order, and discounted tour brands now sit at the same money.

Slazenger Golf Fit & Sizing (Usability)

Slazenger cuts regular high-street fits, and the size run is wider than most budget golfwear. Every Sports Direct listing shows the fit type and fabric, and some carry model height and size.

Notes:

  • Polos/Tees: Regular fit throughout. The Check polo runs XS–5XL, the Micro Stripe XS–4XL and the Performance Polo S–4XL. On the Micro Stripe, the 6ft 1in model wears a medium.
  • Midlayers: The Zip Golf Pullover Top runs S–3XL. The Club House gilet is down to S–L.
  • Trousers/Shorts: Golf Trousers come in 28–50 waists with 29in short, 31in regular and 33in long legs, though long stops at 40 and waists from 44 are regular only. Performance and Check trousers run 32–40, and shorts 30–40.
  • Outerwear: The £21.99 water-resistant jacket runs S–4XL in a regular fit.
  • Heat/Humidity: Lightweight 100% polyester polos and trousers suit a UK summer; the Check polo carries 35% cotton.
  • Size Charts: Fit type and fabric on every listing, but no customer reviews on how pieces run. The Performance trousers even say regular fit in the description and slim fit in the specs.

Accessibility/Range:

  • Men's sizes from XS to 5XL is a broad run for budget golfwear.
  • Women's golf trousers run 8–18, and junior polos, trousers and zip tops cover kids starting out.

Verdict: 7.3/10

Broad, predictable sizing at a price where getting it wrong is cheap. Just remember a wrong size online means a paid return, not a free swap.

Slazenger Golf Core Product Categories

Polos

The volume engine: Check and Micro Stripe polos at £12 (RRP £24.99, 2 for £19), a plain Performance Polo at £9.50 and an all-over-print polo at £12.99. Most are 100% polyester; the Check polo is 65% polyester, 35% cotton. Serviceable basics, though one listing spells the brand "Slagenzer".

Verdict: 6.8/10

Midlayers

The Zip Golf Pullover Top (92% polyester, 7% elastane) is the pick at £16, or 2 for £25 (RRP £31.99). The Club House gilet, a nylon-elastane shell with a fleece-lined collar, is £18 against a £59.99 RRP, but only in S–L. A hybrid quarter-zip has been cleared to £7.50 in limited sizes.

Verdict: 6.6/10

Trousers/Shorts

The best value in the range. Golf Trousers are £15 (RRP £34.99, 2 for £23) in seven colours, Performance Golf Trousers £20 (2 for £30), Check Golf Trousers in four-way stretch £19.99 and Golf Shorts £12 (2 for £19). The standard trousers are lightweight 100% polyester, with no stretch claimed.

Verdict: 7.2/10

Outerwear

This is the gap. There are two jackets, and both are listed as water-resistant and windproof rather than waterproof. One is £21.99 (RRP £56.99, S–4XL). The other is £18 (RRP £79.99), with "waterproof" in its title, water-resistant in its specs and only size S left. For a British winter, look elsewhere.

Verdict: 5.2/10

Women's & Junior

Thin but cheap. Women's pieces include a Plain Golf Polo at £9.50, Golf Trousers at £14.99 (RRP £44.99, sizes 8–18), a £12.99 skort and a £12.99 zip top. Juniors get £8 polos, £8.99 trousers and an £8.99 zip top, which is genuinely useful for a growing child.

Verdict: 6.0/10

Caps, Shoes & Equipment

Slazenger fills a whole golf aisle. The Golf Flex Cap is £5.99, gloves start at £6, V Series spiked shoes are £39.99 and ball packs start at £9.50. A VS club set with stand bag is £225 (RRP £499.99).

Verdict: 6.8/10

Slazenger Golf Materials & Tech (Construction, Sustainability)

There's no materials story to tell, and that is the review. Listings give fabric composition and care instructions, and little else: no proprietary technology, no certifications and no sustainability programme.

Backend (manufacturing & standards):

  • Part of Frasers Group since 2004, when Sports Direct bought Dunlop Slazenger for a reported £40m.
  • Country of manufacture isn't stated on the Sports Direct golf listings.
  • No sustainability claims or certifications on any golf product page.
  • The heritage (founded 1881, Wimbledon's ball since 1902) sits entirely apart from today's sourcing.

Application (on-garment features):

  • Lightweight 100% polyester polos, trousers and shorts, described as breathable.
  • A 65/35 polyester-cotton Check polo, a 92/7 polyester-elastane zip top and four-way stretch Check trousers.
  • Water-resistant, windproof jackets with no waterproof membrane or seam-sealing claims.
  • Machine washable, with trousers at 30 degrees.

Verdict: 5.8/10

Commodity construction under a famous name. At £12 a polo that's a fair trade; it just isn't a materials programme.

Slazenger Golf Customer Support

Support is Sports Direct's: an online help centre and a large store estate. Online and in-store purchases live in separate worlds.

Channels & Hours

  • The Sports Direct help centre, with a guided contact form for deliveries, orders, returns and stores.
  • Sports Direct stores, which handle returns for items bought in store.
  • A personalisation service on many Slazenger golf pieces.

Policies

  • 28 days to return an online order, from £4.99 per return, with refunds within 14 days of the return arriving.
  • No exchanges, and change-of-mind returns are always at your cost.
  • Online and click-and-collect orders can't be returned to a store; store purchases can only go back to stores.
  • Personalised items aren't accepted back unless the text is wrong or the item is faulty.

Self-Serve

  • Standard delivery is £4.99 (3–7 days), express £7.99 (48 hours), and next day £9.99 by Evri or £11.99 by DPD. No free-delivery threshold is listed.
  • Click and collect is £4.99, with a £5 in-store voucher on orders over £100.
  • slazenger.com sells the same golf range at full RRP, on the same Frasers help-centre framework.

Verdict: 5.8/10

Everywhere, but not generous. Paid delivery, paid returns, no exchanges and stores that can't take back online orders make a cheap polo less cheap when the size is wrong.

What Are Slazenger Golf's Review Ratings from Review Sites?

(As of October 2026)

  • Trustpilot: Sports Direct, which sells almost all Slazenger golf clothing, scores 3.1/5 from 307,467 reviews. The slazenger.com profile scores 3.0/5 from just 105.
  • On-site: Sports Direct shows no customer reviews or star ratings on its Slazenger golf listings, so there's no verified-buyer score to lean on.
  • Golf forums: Golf Monthly forum members have been fond of the trousers for years. One called Slazenger's winter trousers "cheap as chips and comfortable" in 2021.
  • Media and Reach: @slazenger has about 12,000 Instagram followers. The 2026 Off-Court relaunch, designed by 23-year-old TikToker Alexei Hamblin, drew fashion-press coverage, but none of it is about golf kit.

Synthesis:

Nobody argues the clothing is great, just cheap and good enough. The retail terms drag the scores down, and the brand's new energy is going into fashion, not the fairway.

Is Slazenger Golf a Good Golf Brand?

For the money, yes; as a golf clothing brand, only just. Slazenger offers some of the lowest prices in UK golfwear, a broad size run and history most labels would envy. The trade-offs are generic fabrics, no proper waterproofs, and Sports Direct's paid delivery, paid returns and no exchanges. If you want golf-culture clothing from a UK brand with free UK delivery, Three Putt's golf tees and heavyweight hoodies are made with a point of view. For more British labels, see our guide to UK golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Slazenger Golf

Who owns Slazenger?

Frasers Group, the retail group behind Sports Direct, Flannels and House of Fraser. Sports Direct bought Dunlop Slazenger in 2004 for a reported £40 million, and Slazenger has been part of the group ever since. That's why Slazenger golf clothing is sold almost entirely through Sports Direct and the Frasers-run slazenger.com.

Where is Slazenger golf clothing made?

The Sports Direct golf listings don't state a country of manufacture, and neither Frasers Group nor slazenger.com publishes sourcing details for the golf range. Listings give fabric composition (mostly 100% polyester) and care instructions only. Slazenger is a British heritage brand, but there's no evidence its golf clothing is made in the UK, so don't assume it.

Where can I buy Slazenger golf clothing in the UK?

Sports Direct, online and in its stores, is the main place, and it's where the discounts and multibuys are. slazenger.com sells the same golf range at full RRP. We couldn't find Slazenger golf clothing at American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18, Clubhouse Golf or GolfOnline, so treat it as a Sports Direct brand.

How much is UK delivery?

Standard delivery from Sports Direct is £4.99 and takes 3–7 days. Express (48 hours) is £7.99, and next day is £9.99 by Evri or £11.99 by DPD if you order by 9pm. Click and collect is also £4.99. No free-delivery threshold is listed, so a £12 polo costs £16.99 delivered.

How does Slazenger golf sizing run?

Regular high-street fits. The Check polo runs XS–5XL, the Micro Stripe XS–4XL and the Performance Polo S–4XL. Golf Trousers come in 28–50 waists with 29in, 31in and 33in legs, though not every combination exists. Shorts run 30–40 and women's trousers 8–18. With no customer reviews on the listings, check the fit type on each page.

Is Slazenger golf clothing good quality?

It's honest budget quality. Most polos and trousers are lightweight 100% polyester with no named fabric technology, and the outerwear is water-resistant rather than waterproof. At £12 a polo and £15 for trousers, that's a fair trade for beginners, juniors and spares. Golf Monthly forum members rate the trousers, but Sports Direct shows no verified-buyer ratings to back it up.

What is Sports Direct's return policy?

You have 28 days to return an online order, and change-of-mind returns cost from £4.99. Refunds take up to 14 days once the parcel arrives. Sports Direct doesn't exchange items, and online or click-and-collect orders can't be returned to a store. Store purchases go back to stores for a credit note or, where possible, an exchange.

What is Slazenger's golf heritage?

Deeper than most people realise. Brothers Ralph and Albert Slazenger founded the business in London in 1881. Its first golf clubs date to 1890 and its "Guttie" ball to 1891. In Goldfinger, Sean Connery's Bond wears a Slazenger jumper and a Slazenger 1 ball is a plot point.

What is Slazenger Off-Court?

A premium fashion label launched on 18 April 2026, designed by Alexei Hamblin, the 23-year-old TikToker known as "the Slazenger Guy" and now its creative director. It sells £40–£90 tees, knitted polos, knitwear and track jackets through Flannels and slazenger.com. A second collection in July added womenswear, including a take on the golf V-neck. It's off-course fashion, not golf kit.
