7 Best Slazenger Golf Alternatives in 2026 | Ranked

Updated on: October 1, 2026

Exploring the brands golfers turn to when Slazenger's shelf price is right but the waterproofs, range or buying terms are not.

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands

Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.

Top Picks

  1. Island Green Golf: Best overall budget alternative, ladies' range included
  2. Stromberg Golf: Best for published waterproof ratings at a value price
  3. Stuburt: Best for a British brand you can buy from directly
  4. Three Putt Golf: Best for golf streetwear off the course
  5. Calvin Klein Golf: Best for a fashion name with its waterproof numbers printed
  6. Ping Apparel: Best for a full family range from a golf maker
  7. Reflo: Best for recycled performance fabrics

Why People Look Beyond Slazenger Golf

Golfers look beyond Slazenger because the low shelf price comes with costs and gaps. Sports Direct charges £4.99 for delivery and from £4.99 for returns, with no exchanges. Neither golf jacket is waterproof, the polyester basics carry no named fabric technology, and the women's and junior ranges are thin.

Slazenger is a British sports brand founded in 1881, Wimbledon's official ball since 1902 and part of Frasers Group since 2004. Its golf clothing is sold mainly through Sports Direct, where prices sit far below the RRP. In October 2026 the Performance Polo was £9.50 and the Golf Trousers £15. The same trousers list at their £34.99 RRP on slazenger.com.

That's a real argument for a beginner or a spare bag. Sizes are generous too: the Check polo runs XS–5XL, and Golf Trousers come in 28–50 waists with three leg lengths.

The friction starts at checkout. No free-delivery threshold is listed, and click and collect also costs £4.99. Online returns get 28 days but cost from £4.99, Sports Direct doesn't exchange items, and online orders can't go back to a store. In October 2026 a £9.50 polo cost £14.49 delivered, and a wrong size cost at least £4.99 more to send back.

The product gaps are just as plain. Both jackets are listed as water-resistant, even the one with "waterproof" in its title. There are no customer reviews on the Sports Direct listings and no sustainability claims or certifications on the golf product pages. Specialist golf shops such as American Golf and Function18 don't list Slazenger golf clothing.

Detailed Breakdown by Brand

Island Green Golf: Best Overall Budget Alternative, Ladies' Range Included

Available on: islandgreengolf.co.uk · Read our full Island Green Golf review

Key Features:

  • Budget golf brand established in 2014, designed in-house in Whitefield, Manchester, and owned by distributor Pan World Brands
  • The Performance Polo costs £24.99 in XS–4XL, and Tour Stretch Tapered Trousers £44.99 in three leg lengths
  • A £69.99 Waterproof Stretch Jacket with fully taped seams and a two-year waterproof guarantee
  • Men's and ladies' ranges, with ladies' sizes 8–20, skorts and a 12-piece autumn/winter 2026 collection at £49.95–£69.95

Pros:

  • A proper ladies' range in sizes 8–20 with three trouser leg lengths, where Slazenger's women's golf offer is a handful of basics
  • Free 30-day returns booked online and dropped at a Post Office, against Sports Direct's returns from £4.99
  • A taped-seam waterproof with a two-year guarantee, which neither water-resistant Slazenger jacket can match

Cons:

  • Dearer at list price: £24.99 polos and £44.99 trousers, against £9.50–£12 Slazenger polos and £15 trousers at Sports Direct in October 2026
  • Delivery is £3.99 unless you spend £70, there are no exchanges and no phone number is published
  • No waterproof rating, patchy fabric details, and juniors down to two boys' items on its own site

Verdict:

Island Green is the closest like-for-like step up from Slazenger: the same sensible club basics, plus a real waterproof and a proper ladies' range. A polo costs more than twice as much at list price. Free returns take the risk out of a wrong size, which is the trade most budget golfers will want.

Stromberg Golf: Best for Published Waterproof Ratings at a Value Price

Available on: americangolf.co.uk · Read our full Stromberg Golf review

Key Features:

  • British golf clothing brand from Brighouse, West Yorkshire, bought by American Golf in September 2019 and sold through its website and around 80 stores
  • The £99.99 Bandit jacket is rated 20,000mm waterproof and 10,000g/m² breathable, with fully taped seams
  • Weather Tech trousers (£59.99) pair a 5,000mm membrane with a thermal lining, and average 4.6 out of 5 from more than 500 verified reviews
  • Many men's lines run S–5XL, ladies' sizes 8–20 and juniors 7–14, and DP World Tour winner Andy Sullivan signed a two-year deal in January 2026

Pros:

  • Waterproof ratings printed on its jackets, where both Slazenger jackets are water-resistant only
  • Free standard delivery over £50 and free click and collect, against Sports Direct's £4.99 whatever you spend
  • Free returns in any American Golf store, with 30 days on online orders
  • Today's Golfer named the Weather Tech its best value all-weather trouser in March 2026

Cons:

  • Men's polos list at £29.99–£49.99, roughly three to five times a Sports Direct Slazenger polo
  • Postal returns are at your own cost unless the item is faulty, and store purchases get only 14 days
  • The £79.99 Weather Tech jacket is rated just 5,000mm, so the 20,000mm figure belongs to the Bandit, not the range

Verdict:

Stromberg gives you what Slazenger won't: a number you can hold a jacket to, plus women's and junior ranges with real depth. It costs more and lives inside one retailer. Free delivery over £50 and free store returns remove most of the Sports Direct friction.

Stuburt: Best for a British Brand You Can Buy From Directly

Available on: stuburt.com · Read our full Stuburt review

Key Features:

  • Manchester golf brand that traces its name to the shoemakers Stubbs and Burt in 1860, now run by World Wide Golf Brands Ltd of Whitefield
  • Graeme McDowell won the 2010 US Open and Darren Clarke the 2011 Open in Stuburt shoes, and it dresses Fireballs GC on LIV Golf
  • The £29.99 Urban Performance polo is 92% polyester and 8% spandex, with 4-way stretch and UV50
  • The Zenith waterproof jacket (£99.99) and Shard waterproof trousers (£69.99) are rated 10,000mm, with taped seams

Pros:

  • Sold direct in pounds, with free UK delivery over £60 and next working day delivery for £5.99
  • A rated, taped-seam waterproof jacket and trousers, where Slazenger has no waterproof jacket at all
  • A phone line as well as email, and a Trustpilot score of 4.2 from 669 reviews in October 2026
  • 30 days to return, with the original delivery charge refunded when the whole order comes back

Cons:

  • Men's clothing only, with no women's or junior clothing, where Slazenger at least sells basics for both
  • Polos list at £29.99–£49.99, against £9.50–£12 for a Slazenger polo at Sports Direct in October 2026
  • No exchanges, you pay the return postage, and sizes stop at 3XL against Slazenger's 5XL

Verdict:

Stuburt pairs British golf heritage with better kit and better service than Slazenger: rated waterproofs, stretch polos and a brand you can phone. It's men's only and roughly three times the price per polo. Buy it when you've outgrown budget basics but still want a British name.

Three Putt Golf: Best for Golf Streetwear Off the Course

Available on: threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk · Read our full Slazenger vs Three Putt comparison

Key Features:

  • Leeds-based UK golf streetwear brand selling tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies
  • Six graphic designs across all four garments: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green
  • Tees in 305gsm, 100% cotton with a relaxed fit, S–2XL, at £24.99–£30.99 in five colourways per design
  • Oversized drop-shoulder hoodies at 430gsm (56% cotton, 44% polyester), S–2XL, at £45.99–£54.99 in four colourways per design

Pros:

  • Free UK delivery, where Sports Direct adds £4.99 to every standard order
  • 400gsm cotton crewneck sweatshirts at £37.99–£47.99 and loose 305gsm long-sleeve tees at £28.99–£35.99 for the clubhouse and the drive home
  • Golf graphics with a point of view, rather than a logo on a plain polyester basic

Cons:

  • No polos, trousers or outerwear, so it replaces none of the Slazenger kit you play in
  • Cotton streetwear, not technical kit, with no moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or weather protection
  • Returns within 14 days of delivery: email support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk first, and you pay the return postage

Verdict:

Slazenger dresses you for the round for under a tenner a polo, and a streetwear brand doesn't do that job. Three Putt earns its place off the course, with golf graphic tees, sweatshirts and hoodies and free UK delivery. There's no women's-specific range, and golfers at clubs with a collared-shirt dress code will need a polo from elsewhere.

Calvin Klein Golf: Best for a Fashion Name With Its Waterproof Numbers Printed

Available on: americangolf.co.uk · function18.com · Read our full Calvin Klein Golf review

Key Features:

  • The licensed golf line of the PVH-owned fashion house, licensed since 2009 to PGB Sports of Cork, which also owns Green Lamb
  • The Feather Dry 15K waterproof jacket is rated 15,000mm and 15,000g/m², fully seam sealed with waterproof zips
  • A Planet series in 52% organic cotton, 45% recycled polyester and 3% elastane, alongside Dri-Breeze and SmartTec wicking fabrics
  • Sold through UK stockists including American Golf, Function18, Clubhouse Golf, GolfOnline, County Golf and Next

Pros:

  • A published rating on a fully seam-sealed jacket, priced from £89.99 at Function18 to £110 at American Golf in October 2026
  • Easier returns: American Golf gives 30 days on online orders with free returns in store, and Function18 offers instant size exchanges
  • Most polos list at £35–£60, from the £35 Uni polo, with quiet branding that works in the clubhouse

Cons:

  • No brand-run shop: calvinkleingolf.com redirects to Calvin Klein's US fashion site, so prices and policies vary by retailer
  • Men's sizes mostly stop at 2XL, well short of Slazenger's 5XL polos
  • No current tour presence; the headline deal was a two-year Ricoh Women's British Open partnership from 2014

Verdict:

Calvin Klein Golf trades on a famous name, as Slazenger does, but it prints a waterproof rating on its jacket. Buying through golf specialists also gets you fairer returns. It costs three to six times as much per polo and tops out at 2XL.

Ping Apparel: Best for a Full Family Range From a Golf Maker

Available on: pingeurope.com · Read our full Ping Apparel review

Key Features:

  • The European clothing range of PING, the family-owned club maker founded in 1959 by Karsten and Louise Solheim, which bought its European apparel licensee in November 2013
  • Built on the Sensor fabric platform (SensorCool, SensorWarm and SensorDry); the £300 AquaDrive Pro jacket claims 30,000mm waterproofing and 40,000g/m² breathability
  • Men's, women's (sizes 6–20) and junior ranges, with junior Lindum polos and Ramsey midlayers for ages 7–12
  • PING Europe makes Team Europe's 2026 Solheim Cup kit

Pros:

  • A five-year limited warranty on AquaDrive Pro and SensorDry 2.5 waterproofs
  • Women's and junior ranges with real depth, the two areas where Slazenger is thinnest
  • Sold direct with £5 delivery, free over £50, and through American Golf, Function18, Clubhouse Golf and GolfOnline

Cons:

  • Polos list at £45–£65 and waterproof jackets at £150–£300, a different budget from Slazenger entirely
  • Only 14 days to return a direct order, posted back at your own cost, half Sports Direct's 28 days
  • Sizes stop at 3XL, and its own product pages carry no customer reviews

Verdict:

Ping is the sensible step up for a golfer who has worn out the Slazenger and wants the same category coverage from a golf company. Its best waterproofs come rated and guaranteed. You pay four to seven times as much per polo, and the returns window is half as long.

Reflo: Best for Recycled Performance Fabrics

Available on: reflo.com · Read our full Reflo review

Key Features:

  • British performancewear brand founded in 2021 by Rory MacFadyen and Peter Philippou, with Harry Kane as an investor and global brand ambassador
  • Recycled polyester as standard, from 42% to 100% depending on the garment; the £49 Bohai polo is 100% recycled
  • Officially licensed by The R&A for Open collections in 2025 and 2026
  • Polos, chinos, trousers, shorts, quarter-zips, hoodies, gilets and light jackets, each labelled Regular or Athletic fit

Pros:

  • States recycled content garment by garment, where Slazenger's golf listings make no sustainability claims at all
  • Free UK returns and exchanges within 30 days, against Sports Direct's paid returns and no exchanges
  • An average of 4.72 out of 5 from 377 on-site product reviews in October 2026

Cons:

  • Polos list at £49–£79 and the Sidra chinos at £89, four to eight times Slazenger's Sports Direct prices
  • Its golf jackets are water-resistant only, the same gap Slazenger has, and there's no women's golf range
  • Names no certifications on its site, and in October 2026 it shipped to UK addresses only, with email-only weekday support

Verdict:

Reflo suits a golfer who has noticed that Slazenger says nothing about materials and wants a brand that does. It costs several times as much, offers nothing for women and won't keep you dry in a downpour. It answers the sustainability question and little else on Slazenger's list.

Quick Comparison Grid

Brand Best For Price Range Sustainability
Slazenger Golf The lowest price per garment, through Sports Direct £ None: no claims or certifications on its golf listings
Island Green Golf Budget men's and ladies' kit with free returns £ None: no sustainability claims or certifications on its own site
Stromberg Golf Published waterproof ratings without the premium ££ Low: recycled polyester on some lines, such as the Knebworth polo, with no third-party certifications listed
Stuburt A British brand you can buy from directly ££ Minimal: recycled polyester in one pair of shorts, no certifications
Three Putt Golf Golf streetwear for off the course £–££ No recycled-content or eco claims; tees are 100% cotton
Calvin Klein Golf A fashion name that prints its waterproof numbers ££ Moderate: organic cotton and recycled polyester in the Planet series
Ping Apparel A full family range from a golf maker £££ Low: a 100% recycled-polyester Lindum polo, item by item rather than a programme
Reflo Recycled performance fabrics £££ High: 42–100% recycled polyester by garment and tree funding on a public Ecologi profile, though certifications go unnamed

Summary

Slazenger at Sports Direct prices is hard to beat on the shelf. In October 2026 polos started at £9.50 and Golf Trousers cost £15, in a size run few budget brands match. For a beginner or a spare bag, that's a genuine case.

The costs sit either side of the shelf. Delivery is £4.99, click and collect is £4.99, and returns cost from £4.99, with no exchanges and no store returns for online orders. There's no waterproof jacket, no named fabric technology and no sustainability claim on the golf listings.

Island Green fixes the ladies' and returns problems for the least extra money. Stromberg and Stuburt add rated waterproofs, Calvin Klein Golf and Ping bring published ratings through golf specialists, and Reflo answers the materials question. Three Putt's golf tees and heavyweight hoodies are for off the course, with free UK delivery. For more British labels, see our guide to UK golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Slazenger Golf

Who owns Slazenger golf clothing?

Frasers Group, the retail group behind Sports Direct, Flannels and House of Fraser. Sports Direct bought Dunlop Slazenger in 2004 for a reported £40 million, and Slazenger has been part of the group ever since. That's why its golf clothing is sold almost entirely through Sports Direct and the Frasers-run slazenger.com, rather than through specialist golf shops.

Is Slazenger golf clothing any good?

It's honest budget quality. Most polos and trousers are lightweight 100% polyester with no named fabric technology, and the jackets are water-resistant rather than waterproof. Golf Monthly forum members have long rated the trousers, and one called the winter pair "cheap as chips and comfortable" in 2021. Sports Direct shows no verified-buyer ratings on its Slazenger golf listings.

Why is Slazenger golf clothing so cheap at Sports Direct?

Sports Direct sells the range well below its RRPs, and often adds multibuy offers. In October 2026 the Performance Polo was £9.50 against a £22.99 RRP, and the Golf Trousers £15 against £34.99. slazenger.com lists the same golf range at full RRP, so where you buy decides what you pay.

Does Slazenger make women's and junior golf clothing?

Yes, but the ranges are thin. Women's pieces at Sports Direct include a Plain Golf Polo, Golf Trousers in sizes 8–18, a skort and a zip top, all under £15 in October 2026. Juniors get polos, trousers and a zip top for under £10 each, which suits a growing child. Neither range comes close to Island Green's ladies' line or Ping's junior sizes.

Does Slazenger offer free delivery or free returns?

No. Sports Direct's standard delivery is £4.99, with no free-delivery threshold listed, and click and collect is also £4.99. Online orders can be returned within 28 days, but change-of-mind returns cost from £4.99. Sports Direct doesn't exchange items, and online or click-and-collect orders can't be returned to a store.

Does Slazenger make a waterproof golf jacket?

Not a genuinely waterproof one. Both Slazenger golf jackets at Sports Direct are listed as water-resistant and windproof, with no waterproof rating or seam-sealing claim. One has "waterproof" in its product title but water-resistant in its specs. For a British winter, Stromberg's 20,000mm Bandit or Island Green's taped-seam jacket are the budget-friendly fixes.

What is Slazenger Off-Court?

A premium fashion label that launched on 18 April 2026 through Flannels and slazenger.com, designed by TikToker Alexei Hamblin. It sells £40–£90 tees, knitted polos, knitwear and track jackets, and a second collection in July 2026 added womenswear. It's heritage-inspired fashion for off the course, not golf kit, and it sits apart from the budget golf range at Sports Direct.

What is the best alternative to Slazenger golf clothing?

For most budget golfers, Island Green: proper ladies' sizes, a taped-seam waterproof and free returns at a modest step up in price. For rated waterproofs, look at Stromberg or Stuburt. Calvin Klein Golf and Ping cost more but sell through golf specialists, and Reflo leads on recycled fabrics. For golf streetwear off the course, Three Putt.
