Slazenger Golf vs Three Putt: Cheap Course Basics or Golf Streetwear

Slazenger Golf vs Three Putt: Cheap Course Basics or Golf Streetwear

Updated on: October 2, 2026 • ~10 min read

Author: Graeme

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Two British names at budget prices: a 145-year-old sports brand's golf basics for the round, and a Leeds streetwear brand for the clubhouse and the drive home.

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands

Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.

Verdict and Quick Pick

Slazenger Golf is Frasers Group's budget golf clothing line, sold mainly through Sports Direct, where polos cost £9.50–£12 and trousers £15 in October 2026. Three Putt is a Leeds golf streetwear brand selling heavyweight tees and hoodies from £23.99. Buy Slazenger to dress cheaply for the round, and Three Putt for golf style off the course.

Best for golf style off the course: Three Putt. Golf-graphic tees from £23.99 and 430gsm hoodies from £45.99, delivered free across the UK. It's casual cotton clothing, so it won't satisfy a collared-shirt rule or keep the rain off.

Best for the cheapest kit to play in: Slazenger. A collared polo and a pair of golf trousers cost under £30 together at Sports Direct in October 2026, in sizes from XS to 5XL. Budget £4.99 for delivery, and more if the size is wrong.

Brand Overview

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt is a UK golf streetwear brand based in Leeds. It sells four garments: tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies.

Each comes in six graphic designs: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green. The aim is golf culture you can wear anywhere, rather than a full on-course wardrobe.

That focus brings honest limits. The range has no polos, trousers, shorts, outerwear, waterproofs or caps, and no women's-specific line. If your club has a collared-shirt dress code, you will need a polo from elsewhere.

Slazenger Golf

Slazenger is a British sports brand founded in 1881. Frasers Group says it began as a leading maker of tennis and golf equipment, and it has supplied Wimbledon's official balls since 1902. Sean Connery's Bond even wore a Slazenger jumper in Goldfinger.

Sports Direct bought Dunlop Slazenger in 2004 for a reported £40 million, and Slazenger has been part of Frasers Group ever since. That's why its golf clothing is sold almost entirely through Sports Direct, online and in store. slazenger.com sells the same golf range at full RRP. Specialist golf shops such as American Golf and Function18 don't list it.

The golf range is broad and basic. In October 2026 it ran to polos, zip tops, a gilet, trousers, shorts, skorts, two jackets and a cap, alongside shoes, balls, clubs and trolleys. There were no hoodies or sweatshirts among the golf listings.

Key Features and Fabrics

Three Putt Golf

  • Tees: 100% cotton, 260gsm, relaxed fit, S–3XL, five colourways per design.
  • Long-sleeve tees: 280gsm, 85% cotton / 15% polyester, loose drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL.
  • Sweatshirts: 400gsm cotton crewneck, regular fit, S–2XL.
  • Hoodies: 430gsm, 56% cotton / 44% polyester, oversized drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL, four colourways per design.

These are heavyweight casual garments, not technical performance wear. They make no claims to moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or weather protection.

Slazenger Golf

  • Performance Polo (£9.50, RRP £22.99): lightweight 100% polyester with a fold-over collar and two-button placket, in a regular fit from S to 4XL.
  • Check Golf Polo (£12, RRP £24.99): 65% polyester and 35% cotton, with a three-button placket and embroidered logo, from XS to 5XL.
  • Zip Golf Pullover Top (£16, RRP £31.99): a half-zip in 92% polyester and 7% elastane, from S to 3XL.
  • Golf Trousers (£15, RRP £34.99): lightweight 100% polyester, described as breathable, with no stretch claimed. The Check Golf Trousers (£19.99) are the four-way stretch option.
  • Jackets (£18 and £21.99): both listed as water-resistant and windproof, with no waterproof rating or seam-sealing claim. One has "waterproof" in its title but water-resistant in its description.

There's no proprietary fabric platform behind the logo. The contrast is simple: light polyester made to play in, against heavier cotton made to wear afterwards.

Price Comparison

Sports Direct's everyday prices sit well below Slazenger's RRPs. slazenger.com lists the same golf pieces at full RRP, with the same £4.99 standard delivery, so where you buy decides what you pay.

Delivery narrows the gap but doesn't close it. In October 2026 a £9.50 Performance Polo cost £14.49 delivered, against £23.99 for the cheapest Three Putt tee with free delivery. Three Putt's extra money goes on 260gsm cotton and original golf graphics.

Price Verdict

Slazenger is cheaper garment for garment, by a distance, even after £4.99 delivery. For kit to play in on a tight budget, little in UK golfwear costs less. Three Putt costs more but delivers free, and it buys heavyweight cotton and design rather than a logo on a basic.

Fit and Sizing

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt tees run S–3XL, and the long-sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies run S–2XL. Tees have a relaxed fit, long-sleeves a loose drop shoulder and sweatshirts a regular fit. Hoodies are oversized with a drop shoulder, so size down if you want a closer look. There is no women's-specific range.

Slazenger Golf

Slazenger cuts regular high-street fits, and the size run is wider than most budget golfwear. The Check polo runs XS–5XL, the Micro Stripe XS–4XL and the Performance Polo S–4XL. The zip top stops at 3XL.

Golf Trousers come in 28–50 waists with 29in short, 31in regular and 33in long legs, though long legs stop at a 40 waist. Shorts run 30–40, and women's Golf Trousers 8–18. With no customer reviews on the Sports Direct listings, check each size guide.

Fit Verdict

Slazenger wins on range: XS to 5XL on polos, three leg lengths, and women's and junior basics. Three Putt is simpler, with a small in every garment and tees up to 3XL, but it has no women's-specific cut. Its relaxed and oversized shapes are a style choice, not a swing feature.

Style and Versatility

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt is golf streetwear: graphic designs on heavyweight cotton, in relaxed and oversized shapes. A tee or hoodie suits a casual range session, the pub after a round or a weekend away. It isn't the top for a members' competition, and it is no use in a downpour.

Slazenger Golf

Slazenger golf is classic budget club kit: plain, check, micro-stripe and all-over-print polos, plain trousers in several colours, and the logo doing most of the talking. That makes it a safe, cheap answer where a golf dress code asks for a collar and tailored trousers. Off the course, it reads as sportswear basics.

Slazenger's off-course fashion sits elsewhere. Slazenger Off-Court launched on 18 April 2026 through Flannels and slazenger.com, designed by TikToker Alexei Hamblin, with £40–£90 tees, knitted polos, knitwear and track jackets. It's heritage fashion, not golf kit, and it isn't part of the Sports Direct golf range.

Style Verdict

Slazenger gets you through a dress code for very little money. Three Putt has far more personality for the clubhouse, the car park and the weekend. If you want the Slazenger name on a night out, that's Off-Court's job, not the golf range's.

Quality, Durability and Sustainability

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt's quality story is weight: 260gsm cotton tees, 280gsm long-sleeves, 400gsm sweatshirts and 430gsm hoodies. On sustainability, Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims. Its tees are 100% cotton.

Slazenger Golf

Slazenger's golf clothing is commodity construction under a famous name. Most polos, trousers and shorts are lightweight 100% polyester, with fabric composition and care instructions the only detail given. The jackets are water-resistant rather than waterproof, so they suit a breezy round more than a wet one.

There's little buyer evidence either way. Sports Direct shows no star ratings on its Slazenger golf listings. Its Trustpilot score of 3.1 from more than 307,000 reviews in October 2026 rates the retailer, not the clothing. One Golf Monthly forum member called Slazenger's winter trousers "cheap as chips and comfortable" in 2021.

On sustainability, there's nothing to assess. The golf listings make no sustainability claims, name no certifications and don't state where anything is made.

Quality Verdict

Slazenger is honest budget quality: light polyester that does the job on a dry day for very little money. Three Putt wins on fabric weight for the money, though cotton is no help in the rain. Neither gives you any sustainability claims to check.

Customer Support and Returns

Three Putt Golf

Delivery is free across the UK. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Email support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk first, and note that you pay the return postage. Support is by email.

Slazenger Golf

Slazenger's service is Sports Direct's. Standard delivery is £4.99 and takes 3–7 days, express is £7.99, and next day is £9.99 by Evri or £11.99 by DPD. Click and collect is also £4.99, and no free-delivery threshold is listed.

The returns policy gives online orders 28 days, and change-of-mind returns cost from £4.99. Sports Direct doesn't exchange items, and online or click-and-collect orders can't be returned to a store. Store purchases go back to stores.

Support runs through the Sports Direct help centre, with a guided contact form for orders, deliveries and returns.

Support Verdict

Sports Direct gives you twice as long to send something back: 28 days against Three Putt's 14. Three Putt wins on delivery, which costs nothing on any UK order, against £4.99 every time at Sports Direct. Both leave the cost of a change-of-mind return to you, and Sports Direct won't swap the size on an online order.

Our Pick

Buy Slazenger if you need kit to play in for as little as possible. It suits beginners, juniors and anyone filling a spare bag, and the polos pass a collared-shirt rule. Polos run to 5XL and trousers come in three leg lengths. Accept £4.99 delivery, paid returns, no exchanges and no genuinely waterproof jacket.

Buy Three Putt if you want golf style for everything else. Heavyweight tees from £23.99, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies under £52 cover a dry round at a relaxed club and the drink afterwards, with free UK delivery. Three Putt makes no rainwear, and you will still need a collared polo from elsewhere if your club requires one.

Plenty of golfers could own both: a Slazenger polo and trousers in the bag, and a Three Putt hoodie for the drive home. For more British labels, see our guide to UK golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Three Putt vs Slazenger Golf

Is Three Putt a good alternative to Slazenger Golf?

Only for part of what Slazenger does. Slazenger dresses you for the round cheaply, with polos, trousers, shorts and caps. Three Putt makes heavyweight cotton tees, long-sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies, with no collared shirts or rainwear. It's an alternative for what you wear off the course or on a dry, casual round, from £23.99 with free UK delivery.

Which is better on the course?

Slazenger. Its polos meet a collared-shirt rule, the lightweight polyester suits a UK summer, and the trousers come in three leg lengths. Neither brand will keep you dry, because Slazenger's jackets are water-resistant only and Three Putt makes no rainwear. Three Putt's cotton tees and hoodies suit a dry, relaxed round at an easy-going club.

Which is better value?

On price alone, Slazenger. In October 2026 a Performance Polo cost £9.50 at Sports Direct, or £14.49 with standard delivery, against £23.99 for the cheapest Three Putt tee delivered free. Three Putt's extra money buys 260gsm cotton and original golf graphics. Slazenger's value depends on getting the size right, because returns cost from £4.99.

Where can you buy Slazenger golf clothing in the UK?

Mainly at Sports Direct, online and in its stores, where everyday prices sit well below RRP. slazenger.com sells the same golf range at full RRP. Specialist golf retailers such as American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18 and Clubhouse Golf don't list Slazenger golf clothing, so treat it as a Sports Direct brand.

How do the fits and sizes compare?

Slazenger covers more bodies. The Check polo runs XS–5XL, Golf Trousers come in 28–50 waists with three leg lengths, and women's trousers run 8–18. Three Putt tees run S–3XL and its other garments S–2XL, in relaxed to oversized cuts with no women's-specific range. Sports Direct shows no customer reviews on Slazenger's golf listings, so check each size guide.

Which has better delivery and returns?

Delivery favours Three Putt, which is free on every UK order, while Sports Direct charges £4.99 for standard delivery or click and collect. Returns are mixed. Sports Direct gives online orders 28 days but charges from £4.99, won't exchange, and won't take online orders back in store. Three Putt gives 14 days from delivery, and you pay the postage.

Is Slazenger golf clothing good quality?

It's honest budget quality. Most polos and trousers are lightweight 100% polyester with no named fabric technology, and the jackets are water-resistant rather than waterproof. Golf Monthly forum members have long rated the trousers, but Sports Direct shows no verified-buyer ratings. Three Putt's quality case is fabric weight, from 260gsm tees to 430gsm hoodies.

Are Slazenger and Three Putt sustainable?

Neither gives you much to check. Slazenger's golf listings make no sustainability claims, name no certifications and don't say where the clothing is made. Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims; its tees are 100% cotton. If sustainability matters most, look for brands that tie named certifications or recycled content to specific garments.
