Honest Turtleson Golf Clothing Review 2026 | Three Putt Golf

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Two of Peter Millar's founders went home to Tennessee and started again. The polos are superb; getting one to Britain is the hard part.
How We Review Golf Clothing Brands
Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.
Verdict: 7.2/10
Turtleson is a premium golf and lifestyle brand founded in 2011 in Bristol, Tennessee, by Greg Oakley and Chet Sikorski, two of Peter Millar's founding partners. We liked the $120 performance polos with their stay-free Standwell collar, sizing to 5XL on core styles, soft merino and cotton-modal layers, and a 4.7/5 score from nearly 1,000 reviews.
It's a serious operation for its size: 291 US stockists including Pinehurst, licensed kit for 66 colleges, and DP World Tour players such as Marcus Armitage on its roster.
Where it falls short for UK golfers: Turtleson doesn't ship outside the US, and we couldn't find a UK retailer that stocks it. Polos work out at about £92 before any import costs, and the returns pages disagree with each other (30 days or 60).
This brand is best for golfers who want Peter Millar-level polish from a smaller label, and who have a US trip or a US address to hand.
Key Features
- Signature tech/fabric: 91% "full dull" polyester / 9% spandex performance polos with built-in UPF, the bonded Standwell collar, Diamond Knit with drirelease®, plus merino, cashmere and cotton-modal layers
- Design language: Quiet American clubhouse style: fine stripes, texture and colour stories designed to mix across seasons, with the "11-stitch" button (a nod to 2011) as the signature
- Fit profile: "Room to move, never boxy" in the brand's words; runs true to size, with TrueFit recommendations on every product
- Range depth: Men's polos, quarter-zips, hoodies, knitwear, trousers, shorts, jackets, vests, belts and hats; a women's line with skorts and a dress; licensed collegiate kit for 66 schools
Pros
- Clever polo engineering: the Standwell collar holds its shape with no stays, hidden buttons or snaps, in up to 22 colours a style
- Core polos and quarter-zips run S–5XL, which is rare at this price level
- 4.74/5 from 997 on-site reviews, with 86% of them five-star
- Real people answer the phone in Bristol, Tennessee, Monday to Friday
Cons
- No international shipping: UK golfers can't order from turtleson.com at all
- No UK stockist that we could find
- About £92 a polo before any forwarding fees, VAT or duty, with jackets up to £288 and suede to £612
- The returns pages contradict each other (30 or 60 days), and clearance can't be returned
Turtleson Pricing
Turtleson prices at the top end of American golfwear: $105–$145 for short-sleeve polos (most are $120), $130–$195 for most quarter-zips, $125–$190 for shorts and trousers, and $165–$375 for technical outerwear. The store shows a UK visitor dollars and ships only to US addresses, so there is no UK delivery price to quote.
| Category | Entry | Typical | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| Polos/Tees | £81 | £92 | £112–£131 |
| Midlayers | £100 | £104–£123 | £304 |
| Trousers/Shorts | £96 | £115 | £146 |
| Outerwear | £123 | £192–£250 | £288 |
| Caps | £27 | £27 | £31 |
Approximate GBP equivalents at about $1.30 to the pound, before any forwarding fees, UK VAT or duty: short-sleeve polos $105–$145 (£81–£112), long-sleeve polos $120–$170 (£92–£131), quarter-zips $130–$195 (£100–£150), Bellfield hoodie $150 (£115), Kephart cashmere hoodie $395 (£304), shorts $125 (£96), trousers $135–$190 (£104–£146), Aidan Comfort Shell $165 (£127), Driver Hybrid Jacket $250 (£192), Grant All-Weather Jacket $325 (£250), Hawkins Hybrid Jacket $350 (£269), Waterproof Defender Jacket $375 (£288), Rallye waxed suede jacket $795 (£612), hats $35–$40 (£27–£31), belts $85–$95 (£65–£73).
Comparison:
- Turtleson vs Three Putt: Turtleson's $120 polo is a fabric-and-collar product you can't order to Britain. Three Putt is a UK brand with tees from £23.99, sweatshirts at £37.99–£47.99 and heavyweight hoodies at £45.99–£54.99, all with free UK delivery. Quiet American polish, or golf identity delivered to your door.
- Turtleson vs Peter Millar: Same founders, two chapters. Oakley and Sikorski helped start Peter Millar in 2001, and Richemont bought it in 2012. Peter Millar has a UK site and UK stockists; Turtleson, the smaller second act, has neither yet.
- Turtleson vs Holderness & Bourne: Two American polo specialists at similar money ($120 against $115–$150). H&B's cut is genuinely trim with no big-and-tall range; Turtleson's is roomier and runs to 5XL on its core styles.
- Turtleson vs B.Draddy: Two US premium labels with heritage founders. B.Draddy at least shows UK visitors pounds (£85–£106 polos); Turtleson won't ship here at all, which makes B.Draddy the easier buy from Britain.
Promos/Outlet Notes: No sitewide sale was running on 1 October 2026. The sale section held ten items: polos at $60, Wallace quarter-zips at $65, a quilted vest at $85 and some collegiate polos at $95. Free shipping over $200 is US-only, and there are no price adjustments after purchase.
Verdict: 6.5/10
Fair money for the fabric and finishing: a $120 polo sits in line with its American peers. For a UK golfer the price is academic until Turtleson ships here, and any workaround adds fees and import tax.
Turtleson Fit & Sizing (Usability)
Turtleson's own description of its block is "room to move, never boxy", and the product pages say it "runs true to size". If you're between sizes, the brand suggests sizing down for a more tailored look. TrueFit recommendations sit on every product page, which helps when you can't try anything on.
Notes:
- Polos/Tees: True to size. Core styles such as the Alex, Grady, Ozzie and Tian Stripe run S–5XL; most others run S–2XL. The Standwell collar sits up without stays.
- Midlayers: The Ciro, Briggs and Collier quarter-zips and the Ciro and Briggs hoodies run to 5XL; the Bellfield hoodie to 3XL; most knitwear S–2XL.
- Trousers/Shorts: Waists 30–42. Trousers come with a 34in inseam designed to be hemmed. Tide to Tee shorts use a 7.5in inseam on waists 30–34 and 8in on 35–42.
- Outerwear: Most jackets run S–2XL; the Fusion II jacket and vest go to 3XL.
- Heat/Humidity: The polos are lightweight, moisture-wicking and UPF-rated. Turtleson says its Diamond Knit runs up to 7°F cooler.
- Size Charts: One men's and one women's chart in inches, with model fit references. The men's chest runs from 36–38in (S) to 58–60in (5XL).
Accessibility/Range:
- Men's S–2XL as standard, and S–5XL on the core polos, quarter-zips and hoodies.
- Women's XS–2XL, with XS–3XL on several polos and layers.
- No tall, long-leg or junior ranges are listed.
Verdict: 7.9/10
Generous size runs and clear guidance, with extended sizing where it matters most. For UK golfers, an exchange means two transatlantic trips, so get it right first time.
Turtleson Core Product Categories
Polos
The core of the brand: 33 men's polos, most at $120. The performance jersey is 91% full dull polyester and 9% spandex, a matte yarn without the usual synthetic shine. The proprietary Standwell collar is bonded to hold its shape without stays or buttons. The Grady comes in 22 colours. Diamond Knit styles cost $125–$145, and the Duncan cotton polos $115–$125.
Verdict: 8.5/10

Midlayers (quarter-zips/hoodies/knitwear)
Deep and well judged. Most quarter-zips run $130–$195. The Bellfield hoodie ($150, a cotton-modal blend) is what Turtleson calls its all-time best-selling layer. GOLF.com called the Bex Argyle merino layer ($225) "exceptionally soft and super lightweight" in August 2026. At the top sit a $395 Kephart cashmere hoodie and a $540 Donegal hoodie.
Verdict: 8.3/10

Trousers & Shorts
A small but useful range. The Tide to Tee trouser ($150) and short ($125) use a hybrid performance fabric built to work off the course too. The Ridge Sateen trouser ($190) mixes cotton, lyocell and stretch. The Bristol Twill Hybrid 5-Pocket ($135) arrived in September 2026. There are only two shorts, so this is a supporting act.
Verdict: 7.4/10

Outerwear (jackets & vests)
Broad, and priced like it. The Aidan Comfort Shell ($165) is a packable water-resistant layer with underarm vents. The Driver Hybrid ($250) pairs a quilted front with a stretch softshell back. The Waterproof Defender ($375) is fully waterproof and seam-sealed, but no waterproof rating or membrane is published. Vests run $160–$210, and suede pieces $695–$795.
Verdict: 7.6/10
Womenswear
A proper line rather than a token: 25 women's polos and 34 layering and outerwear pieces. Polos run $89–$150, including sleeveless snap styles and the $125 Juliana Diamond Knit. There are skorts at $135, a legging, a $185 dress, the Nadia Comfort Shell at $155 and a women's Waterproof Defender at $375. Sizing is XS–2XL, with XS–3XL on several styles.
Verdict: 7.6/10
Collegiate & Custom
Officially licensed apparel for 66 US colleges and service academies, embroidered to order in Bristol, plus corporate and club logo programmes. A 2025 deal with the Confederation of Professional Golf offers custom orders to PGA professionals in its member countries.
Verdict: 7.0/10
Turtleson Materials & Tech (Construction, Sustainability)
Turtleson says it chooses fabric for "the role each piece plays in your wardrobe", and every product page lists the full composition. The tech is in the yarn and the collar.
Backend (manufacturing & standards):
- Designed in Bristol, Tennessee, where design, collection planning, photography and customer care sit in-house.
- Country of manufacture isn't stated on product pages.
- No published sustainability claims or certifications.
- A guarantee covers workmanship, material and production defects, but not wear, accidents or poor care.
Application (on-garment features):
- Polos: 91% full dull polyester / 9% spandex with four-way stretch, wicking, built-in UPF and wrinkle resistance.
- Standwell collar: proprietary bonded construction, developed over nearly a year of prototypes, with no stays, buttons or snaps.
- Diamond Knit: 84% full dull polyester / 11% modal / 5% spandex with drirelease®, which Turtleson says wicks four times faster.
- Layers: a 46% cotton / 25% modal / 25% polyester / 4% spandex Bellfield hoodie, 100% extra fine merino knits and 100% cashmere.
- Outerwear: an 84% nylon / 16% spandex seam-sealed Defender shell, and a 92% polyester / 8% spandex Driver Hybrid.
Verdict: 7.8/10
Thoughtful fabrics with honest compositions on every page, and a collar that solves a real problem. No country of origin and no sustainability story keep it short of the top marks.
Turtleson Customer Support
Turtleson's support is properly personal, with calls answered by its in-house team in Bristol, but it is built entirely around US customers.
Channels & Hours
- Phone on a US toll-free number (1-877-408-8353), 9am–5pm Eastern, Monday to Friday; phone orders are accepted.
- Email CustomerCare@turtleson.com, or the contact form on the site.
Policies
- Returns: the FAQ and product pages say 30 days, while the refund policy page still says 60. Items must be unworn, unwashed and tagged.
- Every return needs a pre-approved RA number, and you pay return postage unless the item is faulty or wrong.
- Clearance and "All Sales Final" promotions can't be returned; gift returns are exchange-only.
- Customers outside the US are responsible for all shipping, duty and taxes, including on returns and exchanges.
Self-Serve
- The FAQ is blunt: "we do not offer international shipping." Delivery is to US addresses only.
- US shipping costs $10 for ground (free over $200), $25 for 2-day and $40 for 1-day. Orders process within 4 business days, or 7 for embroidered items.
- An online returns portal, TrueFit sizing, a garment-care guide and a store locator covering 291 US stockists.
Verdict: 5.8/10
Excellent for an American customer who wants to talk to someone who knows the clothes. For the UK, no international shipping and a self-contradicting returns window drag the score down hard.
What Are Turtleson's Review Ratings from Review Sites?
(As of October 2026)
- Trustpilot: Effectively unrated: an unclaimed turtleson.com profile with zero reviews.
- On-site (verified buyers): 4.74/5 from 997 Judge.me reviews across the range, with 86% five-star and 3% one- or two-star.
- Media: GOLF.com reviewed the fall 2026 layers in August, putting the Bellfield hoodie "at the top of my list right now". The writer was sent the products.
- Reach: About 19,700 Instagram followers. The ambassador roster includes PGA Tour players Pierceson Coody, Trey Mullinax and Henrik Norlander, plus DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour players.
- Green-grass signal: The 291 US stockists include Pinehurst, Harbour Town Golf Links, PGA National and Erin Hills.
Synthesis:
The customers who can buy Turtleson rate it highly, and a resort and club stockist list like this is earned slowly. But there's no independent review base and almost no UK footprint, so UK buyers are trusting American verdicts.
Is Turtleson a Good Golf Brand?
Yes, if you can get it. Turtleson makes some of the best-engineered polos in American golf, with Peter Millar pedigree, sizes to 5XL and a buyer score most brands would envy. But it doesn't ship to the UK, no UK retailer stocks it, and forwarding plus import tax makes a $120 polo dearer still. New Western Europe sales hires in September 2026 didn't name the UK. If you want golf clothing from a UK brand with free UK delivery, Three Putt's golf tees and heavyweight hoodies skip the customs queue entirely. For more US labels, see our guide to American golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Turtleson
Who owns Turtleson?
Turtleson was founded in 2011 by longtime business partners Greg Oakley and Chet Sikorski, and is run from Bristol, Tennessee, with Oakley as CEO. Before Turtleson, the pair were founding partners of Peter Millar alongside Chris Knott in 2001. A separate international arm, led by managing director Bob Smith, handles growth outside the US.
Is Turtleson connected to Peter Millar?
Only through its founders. Greg Oakley and Chet Sikorski helped start Peter Millar in 2001, and luxury group Richemont bought Peter Millar in 2012. Turtleson is a separate, independent business they started in 2011. The family resemblance shows in the soft performance polos and the quiet, clubhouse-friendly styling.
Does Turtleson ship to the UK?
No. Turtleson's FAQ says it does not offer international shipping, and its store delivers only to US addresses. The realistic routes are buying in person on a US trip or using a US parcel-forwarding service, which adds its own fees plus UK import VAT and possibly duty. Returns from the UK would also be at your own cost.
Where can I buy Turtleson in the UK?
We couldn't find a UK retailer: American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18, Clubhouse Golf and GolfOnline don't list it. Turtleson's store locator shows 291 stockists, all in the US. It says it supplies clubs in Europe, and in September 2026 it hired sales leads for France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and the UAE.
How does Turtleson sizing run?
Turtleson says its clothing runs true to size, and suggests sizing down if you're between sizes and want a more tailored look. The fit is described as room to move, never boxy. Men's runs S–2XL as standard and S–5XL on core polos and quarter-zips; women's runs XS–2XL or XS–3XL. TrueFit gives per-item advice.
Is Turtleson good quality?
The evidence is good. Turtleson holds 4.74/5 from 997 on-site reviews, with 86% five-star, and its guarantee covers workmanship, material and production defects. Fabrics are listed in full, from 91/9 polyester-spandex polos to 100% merino and cashmere. There are no Trustpilot reviews, so independent evidence is thin.
What is Turtleson's return policy?
Its FAQ and product pages say returns within 30 days, but the refund policy page still says 60, so ask before relying on the longer window. Items must be unworn and tagged, every return needs a pre-approved RA number, and you pay postage unless it's faulty. Clearance items can't be returned.
Where is Turtleson clothing made?
Turtleson designs everything in Bristol, Tennessee, where product design, planning, photography and customer care are all in-house, and its collegiate range is embroidered to order there. Product pages say "Designed in Bristol, Tennessee" but don't state a country of manufacture, so we can't say where the garments are made.
How much does Turtleson cost?
Short-sleeve polos cost $105–$145 (most are $120, about £92), quarter-zips $130–$195, shorts $125 and trousers $135–$190. Jackets run $165–$375, with suede pieces up to $795 and a cashmere hoodie at $395. Prices are in dollars only, and there's no UK delivery option.
