Island Green Golf vs Three Putt: Budget Course Kit or UK Golf Streetwear

Updated on: October 2, 2026 • ~10 min read

Author: Graeme

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

Two UK brands at budget prices: a Manchester label that dresses the whole round, and a Leeds streetwear brand for the clubhouse and the drive home.

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands

Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.

Verdict and Quick Pick

Island Green Golf is a Manchester budget brand, owned by Pan World Brands, selling £24.99 polos, £44.99 stretch trousers and a £69.99 guaranteed waterproof for men and women. Three Putt is a Leeds golf streetwear brand selling heavyweight graphic tees and hoodies from £23.99. Buy Island Green for the round and Three Putt for the clubhouse and the weekend.

Best for off-course golf style: Three Putt. Golf-graphic tees from £23.99 and 430gsm hoodies from £45.99, with free UK delivery on every order. It's casual clothing, so it won't satisfy a collared-shirt rule or keep the rain off.

Best for budget on-course kit: Island Green. A £24.99 stretch polo in XS–4XL, trousers in three leg lengths and a taped-seam waterproof with a two-year guarantee. It dresses women as well as men, and returns are free within 30 days.

Brand Overview

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt is a UK golf streetwear brand based in Leeds. It sells four garments: tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies.

Each comes in six graphic designs: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green. The aim is golf culture you can wear anywhere, rather than a full on-course wardrobe.

That focus brings honest limits. The range has no polos, trousers, shorts, outerwear, waterproofs or caps, and no women's-specific line. If your club has a collared-shirt dress code, you will need a polo from elsewhere.

Island Green Golf

Island Green is a budget golf clothing brand from Whitefield, Manchester. It says it was established in 2014 and designs everything in-house at its North West headquarters. It is an in-house brand of Pan World Brands, a Manchester importer and distributor founded in 1989.

Its own shop listed 99 products in October 2026, for men and women. A 12-piece autumn/winter 2026 range arrived in September 2026, with quarter-zips, quilted jackets and technical hoodies at £49.95–£69.95.

GolfOnline also stocks it, and County Golf sells older-season pieces. In October 2026, American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18 and Clubhouse Golf didn't list it, so there are few places to try it on.

What Island Green doesn't sell is streetwear. Its hoodies are technical golf layers in 4-way stretch fabric, and the range has no T-shirts or cotton sweatshirts.

Key Features and Fabrics

Three Putt Golf

  • Tees: 100% cotton, 260gsm, relaxed fit, S–3XL, five colourways per design.
  • Long-sleeve tees: 280gsm, 85% cotton / 15% polyester, loose drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL.
  • Sweatshirts: 400gsm cotton crewneck, regular fit, S–2XL.
  • Hoodies: 430gsm, 56% cotton / 44% polyester, oversized drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL, four colourways per design.

These are heavyweight casual garments, not technical performance wear. They make no claims to moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or weather protection.

Island Green Golf

  • Performance Polo (£24.99): breathable, moisture-wicking 4-way stretch with a mesh back yoke, in eight colours, XS–4XL.
  • Tour Stretch Tapered Trousers (£44.99): 4-way stretch with a gripper-tape waistband, in 30–42 waists and 29, 31 and 33-inch legs.
  • Waterproof Stretch Jacket (£69.99): 94% polyester and 6% elastane, with fully taped seams, rubberised zip pockets, inner storm cuffs and a two-year waterproof guarantee. The ladies' version costs £69.95 and carries the same guarantee.
  • Autumn/winter 2026 layers (£49.95–£69.95): brushed-inner 4-way stretch quarter-zips and hoodies, some with sonic-quilted padding.

Island Green publishes no waterproof rating, and fabric compositions appear on some pieces but not the core polos. The two ranges only meet at the hoodie: Island Green's are stretch golf layers, while Three Putt makes heavyweight cotton-blend hoodies for off the course.

Delivery to a UK address Free £3.99, free over £70; £4.99 express

Island Green prices are the full list prices on its own site in October 2026, in pounds with VAT included. Both brands sell from the UK, so neither adds import charges for a UK buyer.

On tops, the two sit almost level. A Three Putt tee costs £23.99–£29.99 and an Island Green Performance Polo £24.99. A Three Putt hoodie costs about the same as Island Green's £49.95 Zip Colour Block Hoody.

Delivery shifts the sums. Three Putt delivers free on every UK order. Island Green charges £3.99 under £70, so a single polo costs £28.98 delivered. A Performance Polo and Tour trousers together come to £69.98, two pence short of free delivery.

Price Verdict

For a single top, Three Putt is a little cheaper once delivery is counted. For a full on-course outfit, Island Green is hard to beat: a polo, Tour trousers and a guaranteed waterproof cost £139.97, delivered free. The two are priced for different jobs, so the better deal depends on what you need.

Fit and Sizing

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt tees run S–3XL, and the long-sleeves, sweatshirts and hoodies run S–2XL. Tees have a relaxed fit, long-sleeves a loose drop shoulder and sweatshirts a regular fit. Hoodies are oversized with a drop shoulder, so size down if you want a closer look. There is no women's-specific range.

Island Green Golf

Island Green uses standard UK sizing, with men's tops charted from a 34-inch chest (XS) to 48 inches (4XL). The Performance Polo covers that whole run, but most other men's tops stop at 3XL.

Men's Tour trousers come in 30–42 waists with 29, 31 and 33-inch legs, and the chino in 32–40. Ladies' polos and trousers run 8–20, with 28, 30 and 32-inch trouser legs. Juniors are the gap: in October 2026 the brand's own site listed just a boys' polo and boys' waterproof trousers.

Golf Monthly forum members have called the sizing "spot on" and "pretty standard".

Fit Verdict

Island Green fits more golfers: 4XL on its core polo, three leg lengths for men and women, and a proper ladies' range. Three Putt is simpler, with tees up to 3XL and relaxed to oversized cuts, but it has no women's-specific range.

Style and Versatility

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt is golf streetwear: graphic designs on heavyweight cotton, in relaxed and oversized shapes. A tee or hoodie suits a casual range session, the pub after a round or a weekend away. It isn't the top for a members' competition, and it is no use in a downpour.

Island Green Golf

Island Green is mainstream club golf: solid polos, colour blocks, chain, dot and geo prints, and quilted quarter-zips for autumn. Nothing will look out of place at a traditional club.

That makes it a safe choice where a golf dress code asks for a collar and tailored trousers, and it offers club and society embroidery. Off the course, it still looks like golf kit: fine for the clubhouse bar, but none of it is cut as streetwear.

Style Verdict

Island Green gets you through any dress code at a low price. Three Putt has far more personality for the clubhouse, the car park and the weekend.

Quality, Durability and Sustainability

Three Putt Golf

Three Putt's quality story is weight: 260gsm cotton tees, 280gsm long-sleeves, 400gsm sweatshirts and 430gsm hoodies. On sustainability, Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims. Its tees are 100% cotton.

Island Green Golf

Island Green packs sensible features into low prices, and its two-year waterproof guarantee is a promise many budget brands skip. The gaps are disclosure: no waterproof ratings, and no fabric composition on the core polos.

Its reputation lives on golf forums rather than review sites. In a January 2024 Golf Monthly forum thread, one member called it "cheap and cheerful", and another was "very happy with quality and sizing". A 2018 post said pieces "go a bit baggy after a while". With no Trustpilot profile or on-site reviews, durability is hard to judge at scale.

On sustainability, Island Green makes no claims and lists no certifications on its own site. Product pages don't state a country of manufacture.

Quality Verdict

Island Green wins on technical features for the money, with a guaranteed waterproof under £70. Three Putt wins on heavyweight cotton for casual wear. Neither gives you much to check on sustainability.

Support Verdict

Island Green wins on returns: 30 days, free, with a Post Office drop-off. Three Putt wins on delivery, which costs nothing on any UK order. Both handle support by email.

Our Pick

Buy Island Green if you need kit to play in on a budget. A £24.99 polo, £44.99 trousers and a £69.99 guaranteed waterproof cover the round for under £140. It dresses women properly, takes returns for free and passes any dress code. Accept plain styling, no published waterproof rating and almost nothing for juniors.

Buy Three Putt if you want golf style for everything else. Heavyweight tees from £23.99, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies under £52 cover a dry round at a relaxed club and the drink afterwards, with free UK delivery. Three Putt makes no rainwear, and you will still need a collared polo from elsewhere if your club requires one.

Plenty of golfers could own both: Island Green trousers and a waterproof in the bag, and a Three Putt hoodie for the drive home. For more home-grown labels, see our guide to UK golf brands.
