7 Best Island Green Golf Alternatives in 2026 | Ranked

Exploring the brands golfers turn to when a budget label leaves gaps in junior kit, rain ratings and places to try things on.

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands

Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.

Top Picks

  1. Stromberg Golf: Best overall for a complete British kit, shoes included
  2. Slazenger Golf: Best for the lowest price per garment
  3. Stuburt: Best for a British name that publishes its waterproof ratings
  4. Ping Apparel: Best for a five-year waterproof warranty and junior kit
  5. Castore Golf: Best for premium British performance styling
  6. Three Putt Golf: Best for golf streetwear off the course
  7. Calvin Klein Golf: Best for fashion-house styling at mid-market prices

Why People Look Beyond Island Green Golf

Golfers look beyond Island Green when they need something its budget range doesn't cover. In October 2026 its juniors' line was down to two boys' items, and no waterproof carried a published rating. There are no exchanges, no phone line and no shops to try things on, and free delivery starts at £70.

Island Green is a budget golf clothing brand from Whitefield, Manchester. It has been designed in-house since 2014 and belongs to Pan World Brands, a Manchester importer and distributor founded in 1989. There's plenty to like. The Performance Polo is £24.99 in XS–4XL, and Tour Stretch Tapered Trousers are £44.99 in three leg lengths.

The £69.99 Waterproof Stretch Jacket has fully taped seams and a two-year waterproof guarantee. Ladies get a proper range in sizes 8–20, returns are free within 30 days, and weekday orders placed before noon go out the same day.

The gaps are specific. The shop still promises golfwear for "men, ladies, and juniors", yet its juniors' page held just a boys' polo and boys' waterproof trousers. Fabric compositions appear on some pieces but not the core polos, support is weekday email only, and there's no Trustpilot profile. Here are seven alternatives, ranked by how completely each one dresses a UK golfer for the money.

Detailed Breakdown by Brand

Stromberg Golf: Best Overall for a Complete British Kit, Shoes Included

Available on: americangolf.co.uk · Read our full Stromberg Golf review

Key Features:

  • A British golf brand from Brighouse, West Yorkshire, owned by American Golf since September 2019 and sold almost exclusively through its website and around 80 stores
  • Men's, ladies' and junior clothing, plus Stromberg golf shoes at £89.99–£129.99
  • The £99.99 Bandit waterproof jacket is rated 20,000mm with fully taped seams, and £59.99 Weather Tech trousers pair a 5,000mm membrane with a thermal lining
  • DP World Tour winner Andy Sullivan signed a two-year deal to wear the brand in January 2026

Pros:

  • Men's polos at £29.99–£49.99 and Hampton trousers at £49.99, close to Island Green's list prices with a bigger range behind them
  • A juniors' range for ages 7–14, including polos, midlayers and Bandit waterproofs, where Island Green's own site listed two boys' items in October 2026
  • Many men's lines run to 5XL, and ladies' sizes run 8–20
  • Free UK delivery over £50 (£2.99 below), and stores where you can try things on and return them for free

Cons:

  • Effectively one retailer, so you can't shop around for a better price or service
  • Postal returns are at your own cost unless the item is faulty, where Island Green's returns are free
  • Plain, functional tops, and the £79.99 Weather Tech jacket is rated only 5,000mm

Verdict:

Stromberg is Island Green with the gaps filled in: similar money, a working junior range, rated waterproofs, golf shoes and shops you can walk into. You give up free postal returns and the choice of where to buy. For a family kitting out on a budget, it's the strongest swap.

Slazenger Golf: Best for the Lowest Price per Garment

Available on: sportsdirect.com · slazenger.com · Read our full Slazenger Golf review

Key Features:

  • A British sports brand founded in 1881, owned by Frasers Group since 2004 and Wimbledon's official ball supplier since 1902
  • A budget golf range of polos, zip tops, trousers, shorts, water-resistant jackets and caps, plus women's and junior basics and golf shoes
  • Sold mainly through Sports Direct, while slazenger.com charges the full list price for the same items
  • Wide sizing: the Check polo runs XS–5XL, and Golf Trousers come in 28–50 waists with 29, 31 and 33in legs

Pros:

  • The cheapest here: in October 2026, Sports Direct sold Slazenger golf polos from £9.50 and Golf Trousers at £15
  • Junior polos, trousers and zip tops, where Island Green's own site listed two boys' items in October 2026
  • It sells golf shoes too, which Island Green doesn't

Cons:

  • No genuinely waterproof jacket, as both jackets are listed as water-resistant, against Island Green's guaranteed £69.99 waterproof
  • £4.99 standard delivery with no free threshold, and online returns cost from £4.99, where Island Green's are free
  • No exchanges, generic polyester with no named fabric technology, and no customer reviews on the listings

Verdict:

Slazenger is where the value argument ends, with polos at well under half Island Green's list price and junior basics still on the shelf. You pay for delivery and for sending things back, which on a cheap shirt is a big share of the cost. Treat it as a beginner's or spare-bag wardrobe, and buy your rainwear elsewhere.

Stuburt: Best for a British Name That Publishes Its Waterproof Ratings

Available on: stuburt.com · Read our full Stuburt review

Key Features:

  • A Manchester golf brand that traces its name to the shoemakers Stubbs and Burt in 1860, run by World Wide Golf Brands Ltd from Whitefield, the same town as Island Green
  • Graeme McDowell won the 2010 US Open and Darren Clarke the 2011 Open in Stuburt shoes, and it dresses Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC on LIV Golf
  • The Zenith waterproof jacket (£99.99) and Shard waterproof trousers (£69.99) are rated 10,000mm, with 5,000 breathability and taped seams
  • The £29.99 Urban Performance polo is 92% polyester and 8% spandex, with 4-way stretch and UV50

Pros:

  • Waterproof and breathability ratings on the product pages, where Island Green publishes none
  • A phone line as well as email, and a Trustpilot score of 4.2 from 669 reviews in October 2026; Island Green has no Trustpilot profile
  • Free UK delivery over £60, £10 lower than Island Green's threshold, and next working day delivery for £5.99

Cons:

  • Men's clothing only, with no women's or junior clothing, where Island Green has a full ladies' range
  • You pay the return postage and there are no exchanges, against Island Green's free returns
  • Polos at £29.99–£49.99 cost more than Island Green's £24.99, and sizes stop at 3XL

Verdict:

Stuburt is the neighbour that tells you what its rainwear does, with ratings on the jacket and a phone number on the site. It costs a little more, takes returns less generously and does nothing for women or juniors. For a men's on-course kit with numbers you can compare, it's the better-documented buy.

Ping Apparel: Best for a Five-Year Waterproof Warranty and Junior Kit

Available on: pingeurope.com · Read our full Ping Apparel review

Key Features:

  • The European clothing range of PING, the family-owned club maker founded in 1959 by Karsten and Louise Solheim, which bought its European clothing licensee in November 2013
  • The Sensor platform sorts the range by job: SensorCool polos, SensorWarm layers and SensorDry waterproofs
  • The £300 AquaDrive Pro jacket claims 30,000mm waterproofing and 40,000g/m² breathability
  • Men's, women's (sizes 6–20) and junior ranges, with junior Lindum polos and Ramsey midlayers for ages 7–12, plus Team Europe's 2026 Solheim Cup kit

Pros:

  • A five-year limited warranty on AquaDrive Pro and SensorDry 2.5 waterproofs, against Island Green's two-year guarantee
  • Sold direct (£5 UK delivery, free over £50) and through American Golf, Function18, Clubhouse Golf and GolfOnline, so you can try it on
  • Trousers in four named cuts, 30–44 waists and four leg lengths, one more length than Island Green offers

Cons:

  • Polos at £45–£65 and waterproof jackets at £150–£300, against Island Green's £24.99 polo and £69.99 jacket
  • Only 14 days to return a direct order, posted back at your own cost, against Island Green's free 30-day returns
  • Men's sizes stop at 3XL, where Island Green's Performance Polo reaches 4XL, and its own product pages carry no customer reviews

Verdict:

Ping is the step up when rain is the reason you're shopping, with a published rating and five years of cover on its best waterproofs. Its junior range is small but current, and you can buy it in several shops. You pay roughly twice as much per polo and get a fortnight to change your mind.

Castore Golf: Best for Premium British Performance Styling

Available on: castore.com · Read our full Castore Golf review

Key Features:

  • A British sportswear brand run by brothers Tom and Phil Beahon, whose first golf collection launched in April 2019
  • Named fabrics: AerTek wicking, ProTek water-repellent finishes and OTek odour control on some polos
  • Apparel partner to LIV Golf's Majesticks Golf Club, with Westwood, Poulter, Horsfield and Canter on the 2026 team
  • A Castore x Paul Smith golf capsule alongside the core range

Pros:

  • Free returns within 28 days, and £3.95 UK delivery that's free over £60
  • A Trustpilot score of 4.5 from 10,672 reviews across all Castore sportswear in October 2026
  • Stocked by Clubhouse Golf and GolfOnline as well as sold direct, with golf trousers in Regular and Long leg lengths

Cons:

  • The Essential polo is £48 and other polos £60–£65, roughly double Island Green's £24.99
  • No women's golf clothing on castore.com in October 2026, where Island Green's ladies' range is one of its strengths
  • No waterproofs (the jackets are water-resistant), no exchanges, and golf sizes stop at 2XL

Verdict:

Castore is the aspirational British answer, with named fabrics, a LIV team in the kit and a designer capsule. It costs about twice as much, won't keep you dry in heavy rain and doesn't dress women for golf, which is where Island Green is strongest.

Three Putt Golf: Best for Golf Streetwear Off the Course

Available on: threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk · Read our full Island Green vs Three Putt comparison

Key Features:

  • A Leeds-based UK golf streetwear brand selling tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies
  • Six graphic designs across all four garments: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green
  • Tees in 305gsm, 100% cotton with a relaxed fit, S–2XL, in five colourways per design
  • Oversized drop-shoulder hoodies at 430gsm (56% cotton, 44% polyester), S–2XL, in four colourways per design

Pros:

  • Tees at £24.99–£30.99, about the price of an Island Green polo, and 400gsm cotton crewneck sweatshirts at £37.99–£47.99
  • Free UK delivery, where Island Green charges £3.99 on orders under £70
  • Oversized drop-shoulder 305gsm long-sleeve tees (£28.99–£35.99) and £45.99–£54.99 hoodies for the clubhouse and the drive home

Cons:

  • No polos, trousers or outerwear, and no women's-specific range, so it replaces none of the Island Green kit you play in
  • Cotton streetwear rather than technical kit, with no moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or weather protection
  • Returns within 14 days of delivery: email support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk first, and you pay the return postage, where Island Green's 30-day returns are free

Verdict:

Island Green dresses you for the round, and a streetwear brand doesn't do that job. Three Putt earns its place either side of it, with a graphic golf tee, sweatshirt or hoodie and free UK delivery. Golfers at clubs with a collared-shirt dress code will need a polo from elsewhere, and none of this replaces a rain jacket.

Calvin Klein Golf: Best for Fashion-House Styling at Mid-Market Prices

Available on: americangolf.co.uk · function18.com · Read our full Calvin Klein Golf review

Key Features:

  • A licensed line: PVH owns the Calvin Klein name, and PGB Sports (Premium Golf Brands) of Cork has been its global master licensee for golf since 2009
  • PGB designs the collections with Calvin Klein's New York team, and also holds Cutter & Buck's European golf licence
  • The Feather Dry 15K jacket is rated 15,000mm and 15,000g/m², with sealed seams and waterproof zips
  • The Planet series is 52% organic cotton, 45% recycled polyester and 3% elastane

Pros:

  • A rated, seam-sealed waterproof at £89.99–£110 depending on the stockist in October 2026, where Island Green publishes no rating
  • Sold by American Golf, Function18, Clubhouse Golf, GolfOnline, County Golf and Next, so you can try it on and compare prices
  • The £35 Uni polo puts a fashion-house label about £10 above Island Green's Performance Polo

Cons:

  • No shop of its own: calvinkleingolf.com redirects to Calvin Klein's US fashion site, so prices and returns depend on the retailer
  • Men's tops mostly run S–2XL, with 3XL only on a few basics, where Island Green's Performance Polo reaches 4XL
  • The women's line is far thinner on UK shelves than Island Green's ladies' range, and tour presence is low-key

Verdict:

Calvin Klein Golf brings a famous label and a properly rated waterproof for a step up in price. Most polos list at £35–£60, so it costs more than Island Green, and discounting varies by shop. Where Island Green has its own shop but few stockists, Calvin Klein Golf has plenty of stockists and no shop of its own.

Quick Comparison Grid

Brand Best For Price Range Sustainability
Island Green Golf A full budget kit for men and women, bought direct £ None: no sustainability claims or certifications on its own site
Stromberg Golf A complete kit with shoes, juniors and shops to try it on £–££ Low: recycled polyester on some lines, no certifications listed
Slazenger Golf The lowest price per garment £ None: no claims or certifications on its golf listings
Stuburt Men's waterproofs with published ratings £–££ Minimal: recycled polyester in one pair of shorts, no certifications
Ping Apparel A five-year waterproof warranty and junior kit £££ Low: a 100% recycled-polyester Lindum polo, item by item rather than a programme
Castore Golf Premium British performance styling ££–£££ Low: no recycled-content claims on golf product pages, plus a Modern Slavery Statement
Three Putt Golf Golf streetwear off the course £–££ No recycled-content or eco claims; tees are 100% cotton
Calvin Klein Golf A fashion-house label at mid-market prices ££ Moderate: Planet series in organic cotton and recycled polyester

Summary

Island Green does the hard part well. A £24.99 polo in XS–4XL, trousers in three leg lengths, a guaranteed £69.99 waterproof, a real ladies' range and free 30-day returns make a sensible budget wardrobe.

The reasons to look elsewhere are practical. Juniors were down to two boys' items in October 2026, no waterproof carries a rating, there are no exchanges or phone line, and you can't try anything on in a shop.

Stromberg fills most of those gaps at similar money, which is why it ranks first. Slazenger takes the price lower, Stuburt prints the ratings, Ping guarantees its waterproofs for five years, Castore adds premium styling, and Calvin Klein Golf puts a fashion label on rated rainwear.

Three Putt doesn't compete for the round. Its golf tees and heavyweight hoodies are for the clubhouse, with free UK delivery. For more home-grown labels, see our guide to UK golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Island Green Golf

Who owns Island Green Golf?

Island Green is an in-house brand of Pan World Brands, a Manchester importer and distributor founded in 1989 that also holds the Daily Sports and Lee Cooper Workwear licences. The UK webshop is run by Zulu Brands Ltd from the same Whitefield address. Island Green says it was established in 2014.

Does Island Green Golf ship internationally?

No. The shop only accepts addresses in the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, and its delivery page says it is not able to ship orders internationally. One answer on its FAQ page still says it ships all over the world, so overseas golfers should rely on the delivery page and the checkout, not the FAQ.

How much does Island Green Golf cost?

At full price, the Performance Polo is £24.99 and ladies' Micro-pique polos are £22.99. Knitwear runs £29.99–£49.99, the chino is £39.99 and Tour Stretch Tapered Trousers are £44.99. Shorts list at £27.99–£39.99, the Waterproof Stretch Jacket is £69.99 and caps are £14.99.

What are Island Green's delivery and returns terms?

Standard UK delivery costs £3.99 (2–3 days) and is free over £70; express is £4.99. Weekday orders placed before noon are dispatched the same day. Returns are free within 30 days of receipt for unworn items with labels, booked online and dropped at a Post Office. There are no exchanges, and delivery problems must be reported within five working days.

Does Island Green still make junior golf clothing?

Only just. In October 2026 the brand's own site listed two junior items, a boys' Performance Polo and boys' waterproof trousers, both reduced and in sizes Age 9/10 to Age 13. GolfOnline still carried a junior waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers and a hoodie. There's no girls' range. Stromberg, Slazenger and Ping all have more for juniors.

Is Island Green Golf good quality?

Good for the price is the fair verdict. The polos use 4-way stretch, and the waterproof jacket has taped seams and a two-year guarantee. On the Golf Monthly forum, one member was "very happy with quality and sizing" in January 2024, while a 2018 post said pieces "go a bit baggy after a while". There are no Trustpilot or on-site reviews to check durability at scale.

Where can I buy Island Green golf clothing?

Direct from islandgreengolf.co.uk, which carries the full range. GolfOnline stocks around 60 Island Green lines, and County Golf sells older-season stock at clearance prices. In October 2026, American Golf, Scottsdale Golf, Function18 and Clubhouse Golf didn't list it, so there's no easy way to try it on in a shop.

What is the best alternative to Island Green Golf?

For most UK golfers, Stromberg. It costs similar money, adds golf shoes and a junior range for ages 7–14, rates its Bandit waterproof to 20,000mm and sells through around 80 American Golf stores. For the lowest prices, try Slazenger; for rated men's rainwear, Stuburt; for a five-year waterproof warranty, Ping. For golf streetwear off the course, Three Putt.
