Zero Restriction vs Three Putt: Tour Rainwear or Off-Course Streetwear
Updated on: October 2, 2026 • ~10 min read

We test golf apparel the way we play. Hard, social, and honest.

An American rainwear specialist that guarantees its flagship jacket waterproof for life, against a Leeds streetwear label that makes no rainwear at all. They barely overlap, and that tells you most of what you need to know.
How We Review Golf Clothing Brands
Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.
Verdict and Quick Pick
Zero Restriction is an American golf outerwear specialist whose Z2000 jacket, about £470 in October 2026, is guaranteed waterproof for life. Three Putt is a Leeds golf streetwear brand selling heavyweight tees and hoodies from £24.99, and it makes no rainwear. Choose Zero Restriction to stay dry and Three Putt for off-course style.
Best for golf style off the course on a budget: Three Putt. Heavyweight cotton tees, sweatshirts and hoodies with golf graphics, free UK delivery and nothing above £54.99. It is casual wear, not weather protection.
Best for playing through British rain: Zero Restriction. Rated, fully taped waterproofs cut for a full swing, with the Z2000 jacket and trousers guaranteed waterproof for life. The catch is the bill and the buying: close to £900 for the suit, no big UK stockist and returns posted back to the US.

Brand Overview
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt is a UK golf streetwear brand based in Leeds. The range is deliberately narrow: tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies.
Each comes in six graphic designs: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green. The idea is golf culture you can wear anywhere, not a full on-course wardrobe.
That brings honest limits, and here they are the whole story. The range has no performance polos, trousers, shorts, outerwear, waterproofs or caps, and no women's-specific line. Nothing Three Putt sells will keep you dry. If your club has a collared-shirt dress code, you will want a polo rather than a tee.
Zero Restriction
Zero Restriction was founded in 1991 in a rural Pennsylvania barn. Its own story is that one golfer was fed up with rain gear that restricted his swing. The brand's most famous moment came at the 1999 US Open, when Payne Stewart cut the sleeves off his Zero Restriction jacket.
It has belonged to Summit Golf Brands since 2007, alongside B.Draddy and Fairway & Greene, and is run from an office on Fifth Avenue in New York. The tour link is still live. Zero Restriction was the official outerwear of the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah, dressing both teams. It is also a named uniform supplier, with B.Draddy, for the 2026 and 2028 US Solheim Cup teams.
For UK golfers, buying is the friction. The site shows prices in pounds, but GolfOnline, American Golf, Function18, Scottsdale Golf and Clubhouse Golf didn't stock the brand in October 2026. Buying direct from the US site is the main route.

Key Features and Fabrics
Three Putt Golf
- Tees: 100% cotton, 305gsm, relaxed fit, S–2XL, five colourways per design.
- Long-sleeve tees: 305gsm, 100% cotton, oversized drop-shoulder fit, S–XL.
- Sweatshirts: 400gsm cotton crewneck, regular fit, S–2XL.
- Hoodies: 430gsm, 56% cotton / 44% polyester, oversized drop-shoulder fit, S–2XL, four colourways per design.
These are heavyweight casual garments, not technical performance wear. Do not expect moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or any weather protection.
Zero Restriction
- Z2000 Waterproof Jacket: the flagship is a three-layer stretch shell rated 20,000mm waterproof and 15,000g/m² breathable. Seams are fully taped, the YKK Aquaguard zips are dual-direction, and it is guaranteed waterproof for the life of the garment.
- Z2000 Waterproof Rain Pant 2.0: the matching trousers carry the same lifetime waterproof guarantee, with a 30-inch or 32-inch inside leg.
- Power Torque: the Power Torque Waterproof Full Zip is 100% polyester, rated 15,000mm and 10,000g/m², with every seam sealed. A stretch panel across the back frees up the swing, and the jacket packs into its own pocket. It is badged waterproof, without the lifetime promise.
- Layers: windproof vests, quarter-zip midlayers, a windproof fleece, and PrimaLoft and down jackets.
- Polos and tees: the Orbit polo is 75% polyester and 25% spandex, moisture-wicking with UPF 50+ sun protection. The Jim tee and Jim hoodie are lightweight polyester stretch jersey with four-way stretch.
Note that "hoodie" means two different things here. Zero Restriction's is a light, stretchy gym layer; Three Putt's is a 430gsm, cotton-rich casual hoodie with an oversized cut.

Zero Restriction prices are full prices shown to a UK visitor in October 2026. They are converted from US dollars, so they move with the exchange rate, and exclude delivery and any import charges.
The gap is wide. A Z2000 jacket and trousers come to £894, close to £900 for one rain suit. One of every Three Putt garment, each at its top price, comes to under £165, about a third of the Z2000 jacket alone.
Price Verdict
Three Putt wins on price by a distance, but these aren't substitutes: no amount of heavyweight cotton keeps the rain out. Zero Restriction's case is cost per wet round. A lifetime waterproof guarantee on the Z2000 jacket and trousers spreads that £894 across many winters.
Fit and Sizing
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt runs S–2XL across the range, except the oversized long-sleeves, which run S–XL. Tees have a relaxed fit, long-sleeves a loose drop shoulder and sweatshirts a regular fit. Hoodies are oversized with a drop shoulder, so size down if you want a closer look.
Zero Restriction
Zero Restriction cuts athletic, built to layer a shell over a midlayer. The Z2000 product page says its sizing runs small, so size up, especially over a thick layer.
The size range is narrower than the brand's reputation suggests. The Z2000 jacket and trousers run S–3XL, while the Power Torque Full Zip, the polos and the Jim range stop at 2XL. The Z700 windproof vest reaches 5XL, and the Power Torque page points bigger golfers to separate big-and-tall sizes.
Women's styles mostly run XS–XL or XS–2XL across a deep outerwear range. Rain trousers are cut to pull on over your golf trousers, with 30-inch or 32-inch inside legs.
Fit Verdict
Zero Restriction wins for a fit engineered around the swing, and it offers women's sizing. Three Putt is roomier, cut for streetwear shapes. Neither is a big-and-tall brand.
Style and Versatility
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt is golf streetwear: golf graphics on heavyweight cotton, in relaxed and oversized shapes. A Three Putt hoodie suits a casual range session, the pub after a round or a weekend. It is not the top for a members' competition, and it is no use in a downpour.
Zero Restriction
Zero Restriction's look is plain and technical. The Z2000 comes in black or navy, and the Power Torque Full Zip adds a wider spread of colours. Nothing about it tries to be fashion.
Off the course, a Z2000 makes a very good commuting rain jacket, and the Jim pieces are pitched as gym kit. If your club is strict about what you wear, check its golf dress code; a Zero Restriction polo will meet a collared-shirt rule where a graphic tee won't.
Style Verdict
Zero Restriction is the more useful brand on a wet day, on or off the course. Three Putt has more personality for everything else. Don't plan to wear them as one outfit, though. An oversized 430gsm hoodie is too bulky for a shell that already runs small, so treat them as before-and-after layers.

Quality, Durability and Sustainability
Three Putt Golf
Three Putt's quality story is weight. Tees are 305gsm cotton, sweatshirts are 400gsm and hoodies are 430gsm. On sustainability, Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims. Its tees are 100% cotton.
Zero Restriction
Zero Restriction's quality case is rated, fully taped waterproofing with a lifetime guarantee on the Z2000 jacket and trousers. Owners rate it highly: the Z2000 averaged 4.9 out of 5 from 48 on-site reviews in October 2026. MyGolfSpy's 2026 rain-gear test praised the Power Torque Full Zip's waterproofing too.
The sustainability picture is weaker. The brand's sustainability page names certifications such as OEKO-TEX, bluesign and GRS, but in general terms, without saying which garments they cover. The Z2000's product page carries a "Made with PFAS" notice for buyers shipping to California, Connecticut or Colorado.
Quality Verdict
Zero Restriction wins on technical construction and long-term backing. Three Putt wins on heavyweight cotton for little money. On sustainability, neither gives a buyer much to check.
Customer Support and Returns
Three Putt Golf
Delivery is free across the UK. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery. Email support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk first, and note that you pay the return postage. Support is by email.
Zero Restriction
The site shows a UK visitor pounds all the way to the cart, but it publishes no UK delivery cost and no duty terms. Shipping and taxes are worked out at checkout, so check the final total before you pay.
The returns page allows 30 days for a refund or exchange. Final-sale and decorated items are excluded, and the refund policy adds that sale items can't be returned. International orders can be returned, but you buy the label from your local carrier and pay the shipping to the US.
There is also a $10 processing fee. The returns page says buying "Free Returns" cover at checkout avoids it, while the refund policy says every return pays it. Only orders bought direct can go back.
Support runs through a US phone line, email and live chat, Monday to Friday, 9am–5:30pm US Eastern time. That is afternoon and evening in the UK.
Support Verdict
Zero Restriction offers more channels and a longer returns window. For a UK buyer, though, Three Putt is far simpler: free UK delivery and a short, clear returns process. A wrong size from Zero Restriction can mean paying to post a £468 jacket back across the Atlantic.
Our Pick
Buy Zero Restriction if you play through British winters and want a tour-grade golf waterproof. The Z2000 jacket was about £470 and the trousers about £430 in October 2026, both guaranteed waterproof for life. The Power Torque Full Zip, at about £260, is the cheaper way in. Size up, and accept that returns go back to the US. Our full Zero Restriction review covers the range in more detail.
Buy Three Putt if you want golf style for everything else, delivered free in the UK. Heavyweight tees from £24.99, sweatshirts and hoodies under £55 cover the walk to the first tee on a dry day and the drink afterwards. Three Putt makes no rainwear, so a wet round still needs waterproofs from elsewhere.
Plenty of golfers will own both: a Zero Restriction shell in the bag, and a Three Putt hoodie for the drive home. For more rain gear, see our guide to the best waterproof golf clothing.

Frequently Asked Questions About Three Putt vs Zero Restriction
Is Three Putt a good alternative to Zero Restriction?
Not for the job Zero Restriction does. Zero Restriction makes rated waterproofs; Three Putt makes long-sleeves and heavyweight cotton tees, sweatshirts and hoodies, with no rainwear at all. Three Putt is an alternative only for what you wear off the course, from £24.99 with free UK delivery. For rain, you need a waterproof brand.
Does Three Putt make waterproof golf clothing?
No. Three Putt's streetwear comes as tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies. The range has no waterproofs, outerwear, polos, trousers or caps, and its garments make no claims to moisture-wicking, stretch or weather protection. On a wet day, wear a proper waterproof and save the Three Putt hoodie for afterwards.
Which is better on the course?
Zero Restriction, clearly. The Z2000 is a 20,000mm, fully taped stretch shell, and the Power Torque range adds a stretch back panel for a full swing. Its polos are moisture-wicking with UPF 50+. Three Putt's cotton tees and hoodies suit a dry, relaxed round at an easy-going club.
Is Zero Restriction worth the money?
For a golfer who plays all winter, it can be. The Z2000 jacket was about £470 and the trousers about £430 in October 2026, but both are guaranteed waterproof for the life of the garment. For occasional fair-weather golf, it is a lot to spend, and UK delivery, duty and return costs add to the risk.
Are Zero Restriction and Three Putt sustainable?
Neither gives you much to check. Zero Restriction's sustainability page names certifications such as OEKO-TEX, bluesign and GRS without tying them to products, and its Z2000 carries a "Made with PFAS" notice for some US states. Three Putt makes no recycled-content or eco claims; its tees are 100% cotton.
Which is easier to buy and return in the UK?
Three Putt. It delivers free across the UK and accepts returns within 14 days of delivery, at your cost, after you email support first. Zero Restriction shows UK prices in pounds but publishes no UK delivery cost or duty terms. Its 30-day returns go back to the US at your expense, and a $10 fee can apply.
Is there a premium waterproof that is easier to buy in the UK?
Yes. Galvin Green is the obvious European rival and is easier to buy here. Its Arlo jacket is £359, and Galvin Green guarantees its waterproof fabric with no time limit, so both brands back their waterproofing for life. Zero Restriction's edge is stretch construction built around the swing.
