Exploring the brands golfers turn to beyond Macade's Scandinavian, performance-led take on golf apparel

How We Review Golf Clothing Brands
Every review on the Three Putt journal is written by Graeme Whiles, the founder of Three Putt Golf Clothing. As a competing brand, we have an obvious conflict of interest. We take this seriously and address it directly in our review methodology, which explains how we assess brands consistently regardless of whether they compete with us.
Top Picks
- Castore Golf: Best overall British alternative at a lower price
- Sounder Golf: Best for British premium sold direct from London
- Ping Apparel: Best for a full range through UK golf retailers
- Reflo: Best for recycled-fabric golf kit from a UK brand
- Three Putt Golf: Best for golf streetwear off the course
- Redvanly: Best for pull-on golf trousers and shorts
- Stromberg Golf: Best for a complete golf kit on a budget
Why People Look Beyond Macade Golf
UK golfers mostly look beyond Macade on price and after-sales service. In October 2026 its AR Tech Polo cost £110 and its Four-Way Stretch Joggers £120. That month Trustpilot showed 3.8 from 78 reviews, with complaints about slow refunds. Men's sizes stop at XXL, and its HydroCore waterproofs only arrived in September 2026.
Macade is a Stockholm brand, founded in 2019 "to reimagine golf apparel for a new generation". It says it has clothed more than 150,000 golfers. Its tour team includes Ewen Ferguson on the DP World Tour and Gabriella Then on the LPGA Tour, and Alex Norén, who signed in 2023, has his own Players Collection. The range is complete for men and women: polos, knits, joggers, trousers, shorts, skirts, dresses, gilets, wind layers and now rainwear.
Buying it from Britain is easier than with many overseas brands. Macade's European store prices in pounds for UK shoppers and ships Delivered Duty Paid, so VAT and duties are in the checkout total. Standard UK delivery and returns are free, with 30 days to send items back and size exchanges through its returns portal. Function18 and Clubhouse Golf stock it, and 6EZ Group has distributed it in the UK and Ireland since June 2025.
The gaps sit mostly after the sale. Returns are usually processed within 14 working days of arrival, and refunds then take 3–5 business days to appear. Trustpilot complaints cluster around slow refunds and return-label hassle, and a minority of reviewers report sizing differences between pieces. Product pages don't say where garments are made, and environmental claims are thin. At £120 for joggers, that is a fair reason to shop around.

Detailed Breakdown by Brand
Castore Golf: Best Overall British Alternative at a Lower Price

Available on: castore.com · Read our full Castore Golf review
Key Features:
- Manchester-based sportswear brand started by brothers Tom and Phil Beahon, with its first golf collection in April 2019
- Named fabric tech: AerTek moisture-wicking, ProTek water-repellent finishes, OTek odour control on some polos and the LVS (Layered Ventilation System) range
- Dresses LIV Golf's Majesticks Golf Club and sells a Castore x Paul Smith golf capsule
- UK golf distribution runs through Specialist Sports, under a multi-year deal that began with spring/summer 2026
Pros:
- The £48 Essential polo and £65–£78 golf trousers cost well under Macade's £110 AR Tech Polo and £120 joggers
- Priced in pounds from a UK warehouse, with £3.95 delivery that's free over £60
- Free returns within 28 days
- A Trustpilot score of 4.5 from more than 10,000 reviews in October 2026, against Macade's 3.8
Cons:
- No women's golf clothing on castore.com in October 2026, where Macade sells skirts, dresses and tailored polos
- Its golf jackets are water-resistant rather than waterproof, so there's no match for Macade's HydroCore rainwear
- No exchanges: you return for a refund and reorder, where Macade swaps sizes through its portal
Verdict:
Castore is the closest British match for Macade's athletic, tech-led menswear, and its core polo costs less than half as much. It is priced in pounds, ships from a UK warehouse and has a far stronger Trustpilot record. The missing women's golf range is the real gap, because Macade's women's line is one of its strengths.
Sounder Golf: Best for British Premium Sold Direct from London

Available on: soundergolf.com · Read our full Sounder Golf review
Key Features:
- London golf brand launched in March 2021 by Cathal McAteer, founder of the fashion label Folk, and James Day, founder of Urban Golf
- The name revives Sounder, a club brand Seve Ballesteros once played
- Its polos are made in Portugal from 100% organic cotton, according to its product pages
- The Sounder x Protected Species waterproof jacket costs £275 and is rated to 15,000mm
Pros:
- Ships from London with VAT included, at £5.95 for UK delivery or free over £100
- A Trustpilot score of 4.7 from 573 reviews in October 2026, against Macade's 3.8
- Stocked at Carnoustie Golf Links, Gleneagles, Nairn, the Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle and Cleeve Hill
- Product pages say where garments are made, which Macade's don't
Cons:
- Only 14 days to return, and shipping costs aren't refunded, against Macade's free 30-day returns
- No women's range, where Macade's women's line runs to skirts and dresses
- Narrower sizing: most polos run S–XXL, and the chinos have a cropped inside leg
Verdict:
Sounder is the closest thing Britain has to Macade's design-led positioning, with a stronger review record and a clearer story on where its clothes are made. Its polos, at £75–£85, also sit below Macade's £110 AR Tech Polo. The trade is a tight 14-day returns window and no women's range.
Ping Apparel: Best for a Full Range Through UK Golf Retailers

Available on: pingeurope.com · Read our full Ping Apparel review
Key Features:
- Run by PING Europe in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, for the family-owned club maker founded in 1959 by Karsten and Louise Solheim
- PING's Sensor platform (SensorCool polos, SensorWarm layers and SensorDry waterproofs) plus AquaDrive rainwear
- Men's, women's and junior ranges: polos, mid-layers, knitwear, trousers, shorts, waterproofs and caps
- Sells Team Europe's 2026 Solheim Cup kit
Pros:
- Polos at £45–£65 and trousers at £55–£100 in pounds, with £5 UK delivery that's free over £50
- Easy to find: American Golf, Function18, Clubhouse Golf and GolfOnline all list it
- The AquaDrive Pro jacket is rated to 30,000mm, with a five-year limited warranty on AquaDrive Pro and SensorDry 2.5 pieces
- Wider sizing than Macade: most men's styles run to 3XL, women's 6–20, and juniors are covered from 7 to 12
Cons:
- Only 14 days to return a direct order, posted back at your own cost, against Macade's free 30 days
- Safe, club-friendly styling with none of Macade's Scandinavian edge
- Waterproofs climb quickly: the AquaDrive Pro jacket is £300, more than Macade's £295 HydroCore jacket
Verdict:
Ping is the practical swap. It covers everything from polos to over trousers, plus juniors, in pounds and through golf retailers across Britain, and a warranty backs its top waterproofs. It has none of Macade's design ambition, and the paid 14-day returns window is poor next to Macade's free 30 days.
Reflo: Best for Recycled-Fabric Golf Kit from a UK Brand

Available on: reflo.com · Read our full Reflo review
Key Features:
- British sportswear brand founded in 2021 by Rory MacFadyen and Peter Philippou
- Recycled polyester runs through its core golf garments, from 42% to 100% depending on the piece
- Officially licensed by The R&A for a second Open in 2026, with a capsule for Royal Birkdale
- Harry Kane is its global brand ambassador and led its 2024 seed round
Pros:
- Polos at £49–£79 and Sidra chinos at £89, below Macade's £110 polo and £120 trousers
- Recycled content is stated garment by garment, such as 100% recycled polyester in the £49 Bohai polo, where Macade makes no recycled-content claims
- Free UK returns and exchanges within 30 days, and free delivery on orders over £70
Cons:
- No women's golf range, against Macade's full women's line
- Its own site names no certifications, so the recycled figures rest on its garment labels
- No fully waterproof golf jacket, and support is by email on weekdays only
Verdict:
Reflo suits anyone who expected a Scandinavian brand to lead on materials and found Macade says little about them. Its recycled content is listed piece by piece, its prices sit well below Macade's, and UK returns are free. It only dresses men for golf, though, and won't keep you dry in a downpour.
Three Putt Golf: Best for Golf Streetwear Off the Course

Available on: threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk · Read our full Macade vs Three Putt comparison
Key Features:
- Leeds-based UK golf streetwear brand selling tees, long-sleeve tees, sweatshirts and hoodies
- Six graphic designs across all four streetwear garments: Contours, Happy Place, Tee Time, Reckless Driving, The Scenic Route and Three on the Green
- Tees in 305gsm, 100% cotton with a relaxed fit, S–2XL, in five colourways per design
- Oversized drop-shoulder hoodies at 430gsm (56% cotton, 44% polyester), S–2XL, in four colourways per design
Pros:
- Tees at £24.99–£30.99 and hoodies at £45.99–£54.99, against Macade's £110 polos and £120 joggers
- Free UK delivery from a UK site, priced in pounds
- 400gsm cotton crewneck sweatshirts (£37.99–£47.99) and oversized drop-shoulder 305gsm long-sleeve tees (£28.99–£35.99) for cooler days off the course
Cons:
- No performance polos, trousers, outerwear or women's-specific range, which is most of what Macade sells
- Cotton streetwear rather than technical kit, with no moisture-wicking, stretch fabric or weather protection
- Returns within 14 days of delivery: email support@threeputtgolfclothing.co.uk first, and you pay the return postage
Verdict:
Macade sells a full performance wardrobe and Three Putt doesn't, so this is a partial answer, and it's worth saying so. It covers the off-course end, the hoodies, sweatshirts and tees, for a fraction of Macade's prices. Golfers at clubs with a collared-shirt dress code will want a polo rather than a tee.
Redvanly: Best for Pull-On Golf Trousers and Shorts

Available on: redvanly.com · Read our full Redvanly review
Key Features:
- New York family business founded in 2013 by Andrew Redvanly, with his cousin David Pagana and his brother Eric
- Says it introduced the "first-ever pull-on golf short and pant": an elastic waist behind a tailored, belt-looped look
- Named in-house fabrics including PUREpoly (88% polyester, 12% spandex), STRETCHknit and GLYDINGnylon
- Major League Baseball's golf apparel sponsor, with Rick Shiels its official apparel partner since June 2025
Pros:
- The Kent Pull-On Trouser puts a stretch waist into a straight, tailored trouser, a different look from Macade's cuffed jogger
- UK visitors see sterling prices: the Kent showed at £120 and the Edmund Pique Polo at £85 in October 2026
- Its Honorables roster includes PGA Tour players Jhonattan Vegas and Kevin Roy, LIV Golf's Scott Vincent and darts player Luke Humphries
Cons:
- A flat $50 international shipping fee (about £38) and no word on duties, where Macade includes duties and delivers free
- No UK stockist and no women's line
- Refunds within 30 days minus a $9 fee, and international returns start with an email
Verdict:
Redvanly suits golfers who like the comfort of Macade's stretch-waist jogger but want it in a straight, tailored trouser. It's the harder UK purchase of the two, though. Macade settles the duty, delivers free and has UK stockists, while Redvanly adds $50 shipping and leaves import charges unstated.
Stromberg Golf: Best for a Complete Golf Kit on a Budget

Available on: americangolf.co.uk · Read our full Stromberg Golf review
Key Features:
- American Golf's in-house clothing brand since 2019, sold through its website and around 80 UK stores
- American Golf itself was bought by Peter Jones's investment group in February 2026
- Men's, ladies' and junior ranges, plus waterproofs, gilets, golf shoes and bags
- DP World Tour winner Andy Sullivan signed a two-year deal to wear it in January 2026
Pros:
- Men's polos at £29.99–£49.99 and Hampton trousers at £49.99, so a polo and trousers cost less than one pair of Macade joggers
- The £99.99 Bandit jacket is rated 20,000mm waterproof with fully taped seams, at about a third of the price of Macade's HydroCore jacket
- Wide sizing: many men's lines run S–5XL, trousers come in 30–46 waists with three leg lengths, ladies' 8–20 and juniors 7–14
- Try on and return free at American Golf stores, with £2.99 delivery that's free over £50
Cons:
- Effectively sold by one retailer, so you can't shop around for it
- Postal returns are at your own cost, and in-store purchases get 14 days
- Functional rather than fashion-led design, the opposite of Macade's whole pitch
Verdict:
Stromberg is the value floor. At list price a polo and trousers cost less than one pair of Macade joggers, and you can try them on in an American Golf store. Nobody buys it for the design, and if Macade's Scandinavian silhouettes drew you in, this will feel like a different sport.
Quick Comparison Grid
| Brand | Best For | Price Range | Sustainability |
| Macade Golf | Scandinavian performance golfwear with duties paid | £££ | Minimal: BCI cotton in one knit and a PFAS-free rainwear finish; no recycled-content or certification claims in its listings |
| Castore Golf | British performance golfwear for less | ££ | None stated on its golf product pages |
| Sounder Golf | British premium shipped from London | £££ | Moderate: organic cotton polos made in Portugal and carbon-offset shipping; no brand-wide certification |
| Ping Apparel | A full range through UK golf retailers | ££ | Item by item: the Lindum polo is 100% recycled polyester, with no wider programme |
| Reflo | Recycled-fabric golf kit from a UK brand | ££ | High: 42–100% recycled polyester across core garments; no certifications named on its own pages |
| Three Putt Golf | Golf streetwear for off the course | £–££ | No recycled-content or eco claims; tees are 100% cotton |
| Redvanly | Pull-on golf trousers and shorts | £££ | None stated (no sustainability page) |
| Stromberg Golf | A complete golf kit on a budget | £ | Some recycled polyester (the Knebworth polo is 90%); no certification stated |
Summary
Macade is a genuinely good brand, and it handles the usual problems of buying from Europe better than many. Duties are settled at checkout, delivery and returns are free, and UK golf retailers stock it.
The weak points come at the till and after the sale. Polos reach £110 and joggers cost £120, Trustpilot showed 3.8 from 78 reviews in October 2026, and refunds can take weeks. Men's sizes stop at XXL, the waterproofs are brand new, and the environmental story is thin.
The alternatives sort by what you value most. Castore and Stromberg are British, cheaper and priced in pounds. Sounder matches the design ambition with a stronger review record. Ping covers every kind of weather and the juniors in the family. Reflo builds its range around recycled fabric, and Redvanly puts a stretch waist into a tailored trouser.
Three Putt covers the off-course side, the hoodies and tees, with free UK delivery. For more home-grown labels, see our guide to UK golf brands.

Frequently Asked Questions About Macade Golf
What is Macade Golf known for?
Macade says it blends "performance innovation with Scandinavian design principles". Its signature piece is the tapered Four-Way Stretch Jogger, which cost £120 on its UK-facing store in October 2026. Its tour team includes Ewen Ferguson on the DP World Tour and Gabriella Then on the LPGA Tour. Alex Norén, who signed in 2023, has his own Players Collection.
Where is Macade Golf based?
Macade is a Swedish brand, founded in Stockholm in 2019. A UK company, Macade Golf Ltd, was incorporated on 31 March 2026 with a registered office in Peterborough. 6EZ Group has handled Macade's distribution across the UK and Ireland since June 2025, and UK golf retailers including Function18 and Clubhouse Golf stock it.
Does Macade Golf ship to the UK, and are duties included?
Yes. Macade's FAQ says all orders ship Delivered Duty Paid, so "VAT, duties, and taxes are included in the total price displayed at checkout". There are no extra charges on delivery. Standard UK delivery is free, and express delivery costs £8, or nothing on orders over £250.
What is Macade's returns policy?
Returns and size exchanges are free within 30 days of delivery, for unused items with tags attached. You register the return online for a prepaid label, then drop the parcel at a FedEx Express, DHL Express or PostNord service point, or book a pickup. Returns are usually processed within 14 working days, and refunds then take 3–5 business days.
Is Macade Golf expensive?
Yes, it sits at the premium end. On its UK-facing store in October 2026, the Flight Shirt was £75, the AR Tech Polo £110, and the Four-Way Stretch Jogger and Links Tech Trouser £120 each. The HydroCore Rain Trousers were £220 and the Rain Jacket £295. UK stockists can be cheaper: Function18 listed the AR Tech Polo at £105.
Does Macade Golf price in pounds?
Yes. Macade's European store, eu.macadegolf.com, shows UK shoppers prices in pounds, and those prices already include VAT and duties. With free standard delivery, the checkout total is what you pay. You can also buy in pounds from UK golf retailers, including Function18 and Clubhouse Golf.
Does Macade make waterproof golf clothing?
Yes, since September 2026. The HydroCore Rain Jacket (£295) and Rain Trousers (£220) are three-layer pieces rated to 20,000mm waterproof, with a PFAS-free water-repellent finish. They come in men's and women's versions. Before HydroCore, Macade's Storm pieces were wind layers rather than waterproofs, so the new range has no long record in British weather yet.
Is Macade Golf a sustainable brand?
Not in any strong sense. Its Tech Knit Hoodie uses BCI cotton, and the HydroCore waterproofs have a PFAS-free finish. Beyond that, its product listings make no recycled-content, OEKO-TEX or bluesign claims, and they don't say where garments are made. In October 2026 the AR Tech Polo page listed 54% polyester and 5% spandex, leaving the rest unstated.
